Dr. O'Brien is a general dentist practicing in the Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Sarasota and Myakka area. Her dental office, Dental Health and Wellness, provides a full range of dental services including preventative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, TMJ treatment, and dental implants.
Dr. OBrien earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. She then received additional training in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the University Hospital in Cincinnati where she had the privilege to serve the special needs community in a hospital setting. Currently, she is on staff at the Manatee Surgery Center where she regularly treats patients on an outpatient surgery basis.
Dr. OBriens post-graduate training includes hundreds of hours of advanced dental education at the renowned Dawson Academy. She is a member of the American Academy for Oral and Systemic Health, an organization that promotes collaborative care between dentists and physicians.
In addition to her professional service, Dr. O'Brien is active in the local Lakewood Ranch Rotary Club. She also enjoys volunteering for environmental causes like Save Our Seabirds, Sarasota Bay Sea Grass Surveys, and local beach cleanup events.

Dr O'Brien & Tammi make an amazing team! I had major jaw issues for 6yrs & couldn't find a dr that could help me. After pain, food getting stuck in my esophagus, & so much anxiety. I started calling again. Finally someone referred me to her last yr. Just with first phone call, I felt I had hope! I quickly made an appt & after an exam & talking, Dr O made me a orthotic mouthpiece. She is so kind & professional. I saw some changes quickly, like less pain & headaches. My jaw & throat moved back in after 5mths. It was amazing! I can finally eat hard foods(fruits & veggies)again & they don't get stuck! My anxiety is gone!!! I am forever grateful to her! She knows her stuff & uses wisely The front desk always has a smile & very friendly! It is a true joy to see them every time!!

I had a very difficult extraction done. Dr O'Brien explained everything clearly and her expertise made it go smoothly with minimal discomfort, very concerned for my well being. Would highly recommend.

I just transferred to this office after many years of not going to the Dentists. The entire staff has been tremendous and I really appreciate the way they have handled me. I am terrified of the Dentists and had a major surgery which I thought went well. A+ for this place.

I have been visiting Dr. O' Brien as a patient for nearly five years. She not only takes care of my teeth but also completes a wellness check to insure my overall health. She is concerned about me as a whole patient and is very thorough in examination, diagnosis and treatment. If you are looking for a doctor who cares about your overall health and wellness as well as an excellent dental care I would highly recommend Dr.O'Brien. I was also completely satisfied with her dental hygienist, Meghan. She put me completely at ease and did a thorough job.

A tooth emergency led me to seek out immediate need for consult. Dr. O'Brien and staff were the very first to reach back and get an appointment asap, as I was not a previous client prior. I'd like to highlight the response and timely fit of scheduling and Dr's personal arrival to see me. Additionally, I personally felt that Sammy, the accommodating hygienist, to be incredibly knowledgable, patient and enduringly kind with the many questions and concerns I was asking. I never felt rushed or "just another client." My cares and concerns were taken into full context, which I find incredibly valuable in the business world of service. I look forward to working with this team in the future.

Dr. O'Brien has been my family's dentist since 6/14. I have had the same Nationwide Life Insurance for this time. I have always been "in network." We have consistently gone to Dr. O'Brien for regular cleanings and xrays every six months. On 11/14/18 I went to Dr. O'Brien for a preventative cleaning and X-ray. Four of my six children saw Dr. O'Brien for their preventative cleaning and X-rays on 12/12/18. We were within the appropriate time frame to be covered by insurance. Dr. O'Brien did not inform me of her status change to "out of network." I was shocked when I received a bill for $782 in February 2019. I called Dr. O'Brien and asked her to explain why I was being charged. Her office explained that we were now being charged out of network. The office said that they had emailed me of the change two years ago. False. I have never once been charged out of network until these last two visits. I have insurance records going back to my first visit with Dr. O'Brien proving that I have never been charged out of network, including the two years she says she informed me through email. I have gmail and I never "delete" emails, I only "archive" them. There is no such email. I asked Dr. O'Brien's office to resend the supposed email, which they never did. I asked to sit down with Dr. O'Brien to review this bill. I made an appointment, but she canceled the day of and then I was informed by the front office staff that Dr. O'Brien would not talk to me about the bill. I have done everything that I can to understand why Dr. O'Brien would want to charge me more money than what my insurance company has already paid her. This bill is unjust and unfair. Dr. O'Brien has been well paid by my family of eight for several years. I feel that this is a disgusting display of greed. Moreover, it is a horrible representation of her business and is unethical.
