HE IS A STINGY DENTIST Terrible

Had a great experience here! Have had bleeding gums for a while and had been putting off going to the dentist -- I went to Allendale Dental and Dr. Goyal and his staff were great. I was seen promptly and after treatment the years of bleeding gums were totally gone the next day.

Reception and hygienists are kind, but Dr. Goyal doesn't have great bedside manner. This place is not good for Invisalign. Was told it would be ~14 weeks to get my teeth straight. One year later and my teeth are still crooked, but Dr. Goyal claims "this is the best you're going to get." So I am out a lot of money for just slightly straighter teeth after 1 year and many appointments later. Also, asked him 3 times to remove the cement that is used for Invisalign from my teeth as it gets stained and brushing doesn't remove the stains. I still have the stained cement on my teeth that makes them look brown and they even have pink stains on them. Not sure how that was missed. Dr. Goyal wants my wisdom teeth out. I ask "why?" and he said "it will be easier to keep your teeth clean." Was very insistent on that and did not make sense to me to get surgery just to make life a little more convenient.

I was a new patient and new to the area. I picked the office because it was in my insurance network and close to where I live... but boy I wish I didn't. The office is very small, dark, and uninviting. No windows, furniture looks like it hasn't been updated since the 90s. There are about eight waiting chairs clustered around a little table with a bunch of germy magazines on top. No COVID protocol like you see at other doctor's offices. Aside from that, the service leaves much to be desired. The dental assistant took X-rays of my teeth which consisted of 15 different uncomfortable positions (leaving the room each time to take the photo, then coming back in to change the position). The x-ray machine seemed as antiquated as the lobby furniture and the poor quality of the x-rays photos proved that as well. The dentist came in to look at the X-rays and told me my teeth were worn down and that I need to wear a night guard and that I need three wisdom teeth extracted. That's all he had to say and was ready to send me on my way. No bedside manner or any attempt whatsoever to make me feel comfortable. He said he would know more once my teeth were cleaned (e.g. if I had any cavities or not). Apparently the 15 X-ray photos could not determine if there were cavities. I was under the impression that I would have my teeth cleaned that day, but no, he told me to go up to the desk and make a separate appointment for the teeth cleaning (even though the office was completely free of patients and it could surely have been done at that time). Anyway, the receptionist told me they could get me in for a cleaning within three months. Three! As soon as I entered that dungeon of an office and looked around, I should have known to just turn around and get out of there and not waste my time. Hopefully this review prevents someone else from the same experience. Please, don't do what I did, and do your research. Go anywhere but Allendale Dental. There's a reason why there were no other patients in that office from the time I entered to the time I left. Update: I went to another dentist the very next week and the experience was polar opposite. Only problem was I had to drive 45 minutes to get there but man, it was worth it. As a new patient, they provided complimentary exam and x-rays and performed teeth cleaning (which my insurance covered) all at the same time. I was relieved when they told me I had no cavities and that I had been taking great care of my teeth, explaining everything they were doing the entire time.
