Dr. David L. Christensen bought the practice from Dr. McCullough in 1969 after his service in the Army and practiced here until December of 2009. His wife and daughters all took their turn at the front desk and chairside to run it truly as a family practice.

After being interviewed by Dr. Christensens wife and gaining her stamp of approval, Dr. Allen was offered the opportunity to take over after Dr. Christensens retirement. By taking time to be invested in your life, we are striving to keep your dental experience very similar to the way it was. Those who have been here recently have noticed a few cosmetic changes and a few technological advances. We hope that despite the changes, that going to the dentist still feels very familiar and comfortable.

I have heard a sentiment repeated several times from patients in the chair. I have sat in this same chair and looked at those same trees since I was a child. We hope that you and your children will sit in our chair just like many before you and have the same remarks.

Allen Family Dental - General dentist in Salt Lake City, UT

Dr. Franklin Allen was born in the coastal North Carolina town of Wilmington, North Carolina and moved to Ogden, Utah for his Middle School and High School years. After graduating from Ogden High School, he attended the University of Utah to earn a bachelors degree in Exercise and Sport Science. Dr. Allen worked in the medical insurance industry while working to gain acceptance into Dental School.

During this time he met and married his wife Amber. Together they traveled to South Carolina where Dr. Allen completed his dental degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2008. Following dental school he was accepted to complete a General Dentistry Residency at the Salt Lake VA hospital. In addition to serving our veterans, Dr. Allen practiced under the mentorship of some of the Salt Lake Valleys finest dental specialists.

Dr. Allen came into contact with Dr. David L. Christensen DDS, a Veteran and local dentist through contacts at the VA and was honored that Dr. Christensen allowed him to acquire his practice. Dr. Christensen saw his loyal patients as friends and family, and has passed this stewardship on. We look forward to providing caring and personal dentistry for your whole family.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Franklin Allen on this last Tuesday. I made an appointment with him at the referral of a highly trusted dental hygienist. I found Dr. Allen personable, engaged, candid and fully focused on my issues. Along with him, his office staff was warm and knowledgeable. Another plus is that you can park right next to his office. My next appointment is already scheduled.

I love Allen's Family Dental! The whole team is great. They don't judge you and work hard to meet you where you are at. I really struggled to trust any dentist, but they went above and beyond to earn my trust. I have been a customer for about a year now and I love going to them! They rock it out!

from the front office to the back, this office makes you feel like family immediately! began with a tour, with then meeting dr. allen, and getting me back immediately with no wait. jess was by far the best hygienist I've ever had and dr. allen made me feel comfortable and addressed the problems I'd been having. If you're looking for a new dental office, you won't regret choosing this one.

I would not recommend this dentist. After a very terrifying experience full of pain and discomfort and harassment from debt collectors and family member of the office I feel I have to express my self and tell my story in hopes to warn anyone about going here. I chose this dentist office out of the good reviews that were online. Upon arrival for my apt I was prescribed Xanax (or some off brand) as I have a fear of needles. Once I had taken one I was immediately intoxicated as I had never taken these before... and also not asked about my experience with these drugs either, which now seems a unprofessional. After getting my teeth clean they had proceeded to give me novocaine. Missing the correct spot three times I was thrown into shock and anxiety. Clearly not having any patients for my stress he asked one of his assistants to trick me so he could try again. Missing again I began to freak out asking for some space to calm down or even reschedule. Insisting I sit down and get it over with I tried my best to stay calm as he began to drill in my mouth feeling every stab and pinch. I tried to tell him multiple times how much pain I was in. I don't think he cared or believed me. During the filling process and as I began to calm down he proceed to make jokes about how silly I was and how it's cool to watch the "drugs finally kick in". I was in pain, terrified, embarrassed, and felt extremely unsafe and taken advantage of by Dr Allen. Afterwards my tooth is still very sensitive to cold heat and cracked. Although I understand I was a difficult patient I gave plenty of fair warning of my fears and anxieties and they assured they would take care of me. This was not the case. After paying the bill in full I received another bill and called to discuss what it was for. There was no clear answer given besides the fact doctor Allen would take care of it because of my very intense experience, he even apologized saying "it wasn't his best work". After many phone conversations with me and my parents we agreed the bill would be taken care of. After receiving another bill, I called again this time clearly upset for a multitude of reasons. He claimed he has never done anything wrong and was going to send the $50 dollar bill to a debt collector. After his threat my mom offered to pay it as I am in a very rigorous architecture program and rarely have spare money. Hoping things would just work out I left it at that with a yelp review of my experience as it is my right to freely speak and warn others of my experience. Within days I was messaged by the friends family members of the office harassing me saying inappropriate things about and to me because of my anger and fear fueled yelp review. To be honest I was scared and felt taken advantage of, it seemed like my only way to voice my words and feel heard. I proceeded with another phone call offering to take it down and make peace. This was not enough Dr Allen then informed me that the reason he will not accept payment is because of my yelp review and if I have any other concern to talk to the Debt collection agency. This was money that he claimed I owed him so he could have some way to hurt me. All of these are great reasons to stay away from this place especially if you are looking for a professional and safe place to receive dentistry work.
