Born and raised in Athens GA, Dr. Allen has grown up with dentistry in his family. A fourth generation dentist, his great grandfather (Parker Edmonds), his grandfather (James B. Allen) and his father (William E. Allen), practiced dentistry and orthodontics, respectively, for many years in Athens. It was at an early age that the younger Dr. Allen knew he wanted to follow in his grandfather and fathers footsteps. After attending the Baylor School, Dr. Allen went on to attend the University of Georgia in his hometown. After graduating from UGA, he went on to study dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia, where he earned his DMD. He was subsequently accepted to and completed an additional one year general practice residency focusing on the surgical placement and restoration of dental implants, IV sedation, and the treatment of medically compromised patients. He began practicing in Athens soon after.
In his spare time, Dr. Allen spends time with his lovely wife, April, and his young son, Watts. With another one on the way, they certainly have their hands full. He loves to fish and enjoy the outdoors whenever he can find time on the weekends. He and his wife are active with the First United Methodist Church and participate with various charities and volunteer work.

Kristi graduated from Elbert County Comprehensive High School and attended Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia. She has experience as a phlebotomist at Athens Regional Hospital; she worked at NuCraft Dental Arts laboratory as a customer service specialist; Kristi has excelled as a dental assistant for over a decade. She is great at what she does and brings a wealth of knowledge to the team, not to mention an infectious smile and a laugh you can here down the hall. Kristi and her husband, Michael, live in Danielsville, Georgia. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.

We are proud to be a digitally based, paperless office. In an increasingly digital age, reducing the amount of unnecessary paper that we use has become easier to do, as our digital technologies actually offer more convenience for our patients. We also utilize Digital X-ray technology, which use 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays.
These days when you visit some dental offices, you never know which dentist you are going to see. Dr. Allen is the primary dentist in his office and administers all patient dental care. His warm, friendly, lighthearted and personal approach will keep you and your family smiling!
We recently moved into a new office to better serve our patients. The new office was built from the ground up with your comfort and convenience in mind. All of our treatment rooms have comfortable chairs combined with an overall ambiance to make you feel relaxed on your visit. We feature high quality monitors in every operatory so that our patients can get close up views of their x-rays and images.
Traditional insurance is welcome and accepted at our practice. As a courtesy, we will gladly file all insurance claims on your behalf.We accept all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and offer Patient Financing through CareCredit.

It is hard to put into words how wonderful Dr. Allen and his team are. Since I was small I have hated the dentist. "Hate" is a strong word, and I do not use it lightly. When my front tooth chipped in October of 2018 - just two days before I was leaving on family cruise - I was irritated, worried, frustrated...you name it. I'd only lived in GA full time for about a year at that point. My trusted dentist was in Florida, and I hadn't established a relationship with a local office. So, in need of a quick fix, I called a dentist in Athens that was recommended by a coworker. She wasn't accepting new patients, and recommended Dr. Allen. I'm SO glad she wasn't able to take me, because it led me to Allen Dental. When I called, it wasn't Dr. Allen who eased my mind. It was Kristi, his Dental Assistant and Office Manager (Yes, she is superwoman - she does BOTH jobs). Kind, caring, and knowledgeable, she assured me that I would be okay and that the massive amount of "teeth-fixing" I needed would be a breeze. She was right! Dr. Allen is personable, kind, honest, and he listens. He is genuinely a nice person - no phony rhetoric or pretend interest in his patients. He really does care. Yet, I suppose what's most important is the quality of his dentistry. His work is beautiful, and he wants to be certain that his patients are happy with all results. I could not ask for a better experience. Did I mention that I once hated going to the dentist?

I have been seeing Dr. Allen for 5+ years and have never had a bad experience with him or his staff. Dr. Allen always makes me feel like family when I come for my visits. We talk about everything from hunting, to fishing, to what's going on with our families. It is always a warm friendly atmosphere when I have to go to see Dr. Allen. Dr. Allen and Krisi are both awesome and I recommend them to everyone that asks about a dentist. Thank you both!!!

Dr. Allen and Kristi are the best! The office is immaculate and the equipment looks brand new! Dr. Allen always takes the time to address any concerns that you may have no matter if it is just a routine cleaning or something more serious. Dr. Allen and Kristi also go the extra mile in getting know each patient on personal level as well. By far the best experience I have ever had going to the dentist! Highly recommend Allen Dental!

Dr. David Allen saved my life so to speak. I came to Athens from Miami last minute to surprise my mother for Mother's Day. While I was there one of my front teeth broke loose on that Sunday. I was in dire need of a dentist immediately, as on Monday morning, I was flying to Jacksonville for ACC Head Coaches Meetings. The dentist that I had gone to while I lived in Athens was out of town. I was put in contact with Dr. David Allen. He opened his dental office at 6:00 pm in the evening on a Sunday, on Mother's Day and did everything he could to help me. He was able to give me a temporary fix to last through the meetings and until I was able to make it back to Miami a few days later. Dr. Allen went above and beyond the call of duty to assist me with my emergency dental situation and I will forever be grateful. He is an outstanding dentist.
