Craig M. Allen is a native of Braintree and graduated from Braintree High in 1986. He then attended Syracuse University and received his B.A. in Economics in 1990. He went to Boston University Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1995. He joined his fathers practice in 1995 and today continues the tradition of over 90 years of family dentistry. Currently, he lectures nationally on dental implant restorations.

Lauren Handwerk is a native of Braintree and graduated from Braintree High in 1995. She then obtained her B.S. degree from Boston College in 1999 and went on to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2003. While attending Tufts, she was a member of the Smile Squad Community Outreach Program and Alpha Omega Fraternity. In August of 2003, Dr. Handwerk united with us to continue over 90 years of family dentistry.

Jennifer Allen is a native of Norwell and graduated from Norwell High School in 2006. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Providence College in 2010. She then went on to Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated magna cum laude, and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2014. In May of 2014 she was also presented with recognition for Outstanding Achievement in Operative Dentistry as well as The Department of General Dentistry Excellence in Occlusion Award.

Lyle Smith is a native of Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School in 2007. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Boston University in 2011. Lyle then went on to Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2015 and was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (Dental National Honor Society). Following dental school Lyle did a one year general practice residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Lyle has received recognition for Outstanding Achievement in Fixed Prosthodontics, as well as the American College of Dentists National Brassler Award, the Spencer N. Frankl Award, and the Twiness Society Award.

By using state of the art technology, root canal therapy can often preserve a damaged tooth that would otherwise require extraction. I enjoy educating patients to have realistic expectations of what root canal therapy involves, while providing treatment that is skilled, compassionate, and pain free in a comfortable and relaxed environment.

Dr. Michelle Whalen grew up in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 2011. She went on to major in Biology at the University of Connecticut and graduated in 2015. Michelle attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Society, graduated Cum Laude, and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in the spring of 2019.

Dr. Isabel McQuattie is a graduate of Boston University, Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. McQuattie received her Certification in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dental Research from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. McQuattie attended dental school in her home country of Venezuela at the Universidad Santa Maria. Dr. McQuattie is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association for Orthodontics. Dr. McQuattie speaks English and Spanish.

Dr. David Goldberg is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed his Periodontal Residency at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Goldberg strives to give every patient the best opportunity for dental health and is an advocate for the link between dental health and overall health. When hes not practicing, Dr. Goldberg is an avid runner and has enjoyed running in multiple 5k and half marathon events year-round.

Founded by Dr. Albert Allen, Sr. in 1929, the family tradition of providing personal family dentistry to our neighbors on the South Shore began. Dr. Albert Allen, Jr. joined his father in 1964, and in 1995 Dr. Craig Allen joined the practice. In 2003, Dr. Lauren Handwerk united with our practice and brought great skill and energy. We welcomed the 4th generation of Allens to the team in 2014 with the addition ofDr. Jennifer Allen in August 2014, adding to our practices 90+ year of family legacy.

Doctor Albert J. Allen Founder Deceased Doctor Albert J. Allen graduated from the Tufts School of Dental Medicine in 1929. He opened his dental office in South Braintree, where he continued to practice for 42 years. His accomplishments include being the former chairman of the South Shore District Dental Society and a clinical instructor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He was also a trustee of the Mass Dental Society (MDS), a member of The American Dental Society (ADA), the MDS, the South Shore District Dental Society, and the Fellow International College of Dentists (FICD).

Doctor Albert J. Allen, Jr. Deceased Albert J. Allen Jr. was a native of Braintree and attended Braintree schools. He continued his education at Tufts University and in 1962 received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He then joined the U.S. Naval Reserve as a Lieutenant and became a dental officer attached to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Isle at Beaufort Naval Hospital, South Carolina, from 1962 to 1964. He then joined his fathers dental practice in 1964. During the 1980s, Dr. Allen was also a Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Army National Guard.

Allen Dental is proud to support The Sgt Daniel Vasselian Memorial Fund. The fund is to honor the sacrifice of United States Marine Sgt Daniel M. Vasselian. Sgt Vasselian was killed in action in Afghanistan on December 23, 2013, and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medal with Valor for his heroic actions.

Our hygienist Jillian Crowley, who was a dear friend of Sgt Daniel, organizes a 5K race every year and our staff volunteer and participate in the race. All proceeds benefit The Sgt Daniel Vasselian Memorial Fund which helps local military and veteran families experiencing financial hardships.

Every holiday season Allen Dental runs a Winter Boot Drive where we collect new winter boots and donate them Father Bills & MainSpring charity. The community can drop off the boots and socks at our dental office and we deliver the boots every January.

Allen Dental is a proud sponsor of local sports in the Braintree area and we love helping the kids in our community learn about teamwork, hard work, and leadership through sports.
