It is important to offer children a specialized for me tailored approach to dental care. There are many reasons why this is crucial, beyond the behavioral approach: for me, its about making kids smile while also finding and addressing problems before they manifest into worse issues.

It is important to address a patients clinical needs and their emotional wellbeing. By making those the top priorities, I make visits more comfortable, decreasing a childs anxiety and building trust. In this, I am able to turn even the most apprehensive child into a fan of visiting the dentist!

These organizations offer a wide range of advanced educational opportunities, including meetings, lectures, and seminars. They also provide numerous publications and journals addressing the latest research, newest technologies, and changes in treatment protocols.

Dr. Mujica recently returned from a dental mission trip with Heart for Africas Project Canaan, where she treated over 260 orphans. Closer to home, she has also participated in rural outreach dentistry in Virginia, caring for underserved individuals.

When Dr. Mujicas not in the office, shes most often found with her husband Ethan, their daughter, Charlotte, and their extended family. She enjoys diverse food, travel, and culture, and is always happy to share stories of her adventures and early life in Peru.

While in high school and college, I began working as a childrens fitness instructor at the YMCA. It was that experience that I realized I enjoyed working with children and the importance of encouraging healthy habits in youth.

My primary goal is to create a comfortable, enjoyable, and trusting dental environment for children and parents. I take pride in creating a positive experience and laying a good foundation of oral health knowledge for my families!

I can remember two moments in my life. The moment I choose to become a dentist, and then the moment I choose pediatric dentistry as a career. Fun. Fact: I originally wanted to be a Veterinarian (because I love animals!), but over time but excitement for it withered. It wasnt until I introduced to dentistry that the sparks flew.

Since I decided to devote my life to children, I have never been happier. Working with children has always been a fun experience, and I have never felt more connected to something so much as I have been with children and dentistry. Combining those two for me has been a magical experience that has brought my life so much joy.

I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with children, in particular children with special health care needs. I look forward to creating a loving environment where children can develop and maintain healthy smiles that will transition into adulthood.

Dr. Wiggins had the opportunity to complete mission work. Her most recent dental mission trip was with the VCU Jamaica Project, where she had the opportunity to provide comprehensive and emergency treatment to both adults and children in need.

Originally from Hawaii, Dr. Wiggins has resided in North Carolina for most of her life until recently. She relocated back to Charlotte, North Carolina, after she completed her residency in pediatric dentistry.

When Dr. Wiggins is not in the office, she spends most of her time with her friends and family. She enjoys traveling and working out. She loves to share childhood stories and to connect with her patients.

Throughout college, I was a member of two mentoring programs; Jewels Inc. and Young Ladies of Tomorrow in which I was able to work with children and young girls in the Washington Metropolitan area. Being able to watch my mentees matriculate through school and see growth in their personal lives really resonated to me the importance and advantage of early intervention especially for children. This is where my passion for working with children began.

In dental school, I was able to participate in different programs geared to working with children. My favorite experience was participating as lead coordinator for Lessons In A Lunchbox, an oral health awareness program that serviced over 100 kids at Cleveland Elementary School. I was also able to serve as co-coordinator and group leader for H.O.P.E Yes!; a health science enrichment program geared towards minority children. These unique experiences solidified my interest in pediatric dentistry.

My primary goal is to create a healthy foundation and fun environment for patients and parents. I believe early health promotion and disease prevention is key in oral health awareness. I aim to not only provide excellent services to patients, but to establish a rapport and educate patients and parents on the importance of oral health while having fun!

Dr. Oboite enjoys participating in medical missions. She has participated with the Christian Dental Society for two years where she had the opportunity to provide dental treatment to both adults and children in need in Treasure Beach, Jamaica.

Dr. Stephanie Oboite was born in Washington, DC and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland. In her free time she enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends, event planning and trying new restaurants. She is a Proud Bison!

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible.! I initially thought this was an awesome facility, awesome registration team (Jasmine and Victoria).I liked the idea of seeing a group of minorities and females working together in such a professional atmosphere. However, leaving the office today 9/12/22 I was very unsatisfied by the way Dr. Marcela Mujica handled my child. When I questioned her about why my child was screaming just like any other parent would. She told me (as the parent) to calm down. I let her know I was only concerned to hear my child scream so loud. After furthering our conversation, she continued to lack empathy or any emotion at all. Working with children she needs ALOT more compassion. After expressing my concern about the situation, she said she had no reason to apologize to my daughter who still sat in the chair crying. She has dismissed my children from the office due to her behavior. I would not step foot back in that dentist if they paid me!! I asked for contact information, and she refused said she was the owner over ALL the locations. However, someone ALWAYS has a higher up! DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!

Changing from 5 stars to only 2... While I originally had a decent first experience with this dentist they're last minute rescheduling (after I've taken off work to be able to take my kids to their appointment) and extremely limited availability (no weekends or even afternoons for children under 6) left me in a lurch for the last time. Going to find a new dentist for my boys. Also, I told them this over the phone... and they didn't care at all. If you're a family that doesn't run on a schedule, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.

Love this dental office for my baby! Every single time we end up with a great dental assistant who is willing to go above and beyond to make my son comfortable with her and with the tools. He usually starts off nervous but they help a lot ...

Our visit today couldn't have gone better. It was the 3rd attempt for taking my daughter to the dentist but the first successful trip. We tried two other dentist offices within the past year and my girl just couldn't get comfortable enough ...

Our visit today couldn't have gone better. It was the 3rd attempt for taking my daughter to the dentist but the first successful trip. We tried two other dentist offices within the past year and my girl just couldn't get comfortable enough or ease her fear enough to let anyone perform the cleaning and exam. Today the whole experience was perfect. She was comfortable in the brightly colored office with kids bop music playing in the background, all songs she knows and likes. The 4 exam chairs are in a row in a fairly open space so she didn't feel trapped or secluded. She could see other kids laying on their tables going through their exam which I think really eased her hesitation. The nurse was so sweet and let her ask questions and touch the tools. Then the dentist came in and immediately read the nerves and hesitation on my daughters face and body language. She brought with her one of her favorite stuffed animals. Right away the dentist asked who her buddy was and examined Hippo's teeth first.....putting the sun glasses on Hippo, laying him down, using the tools....the whole deal! This had my daughter giggling and completely relaxed her. She let them polish, floss and check all around her mouth. For the rest of the day my girl was beaming with pride, as was I. Thank you AKPD for such a great experience!
