Dr. Renzi is a Southern California native who received his undergraduate degree in biology, as well as a M.S. in Biology with an emphasis in population genetics and ecology, from the University of California, Los Angeles. He earned his D.D.S. from Georgetown University and completed his residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Renzi has been a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist for over 25 years and has been practicing dentistry for over 37 years. Dr. Renzi has been a Part-time Faculty of the U.S.C. Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry for the Pediatric Dentistry residents at CHOC Childrens Hospital in Orange for over 10 years. He maintains a Conscious Sedation permit and is a senior evaluator for the Conscious Sedation permit on-site exam for the Dental Board of California. Dr. Renzi has contributed to the community by being the Co-Chair of the Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) advisory board for the Irvine Unified School District. He continues to be involved in legislative issues that affect the profession of dentistry and the community. He has served organized dentistry by maintaining good working relationships with our elected congressmen. He continues to do in-office research and supports new technologies and develops new techniques. He has also served as an expert witness in many high-profile dental cases. He has a broad background in many fields that he brings together when formulating treatment plans for his young patients.
In dental school and in her residency, she enjoyed taking what she learned from different classes and seeing how the different information worked together. She applies this to Pediatric Dentistry by bringing your childs dental, orthodontic, behavioral, and medical needs together. She then works with the parents and children to develop a plan so that each child will have an outcome that is pleasing and successful.
Dr. Karilyn House is a Southern California native, growing up in Orange County. She earned her B.S. in Psychobiology from U.C.L.A.. She enjoyed being a Bruin so much that she wore the blue and gold for another four years, also completing her D.D.S. at U.C.L.A.. As Dr. House also has family members who are loyal Trojans, she decided to travel to the other side of Los Angeles, completing her Pediatric Dentistry residency at the U.S.C. Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
After completing her residency and earning the Hugh M. Kopel Annual Award (also known as the Resident of the Year Award), Dr. House returned to Orange County in 2000, where she has been practicing comprehensive Pediatric Dentistry in the private practice and hospital settings. She has been a Part-time Faculty of the U.S.C. Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry for the Pediatric Dentistry residents at CHOC Childrens Hospital in Orange for over 10 years.
Dr. House became a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist in 2007. In 2001, she received the Richard C.Pugh Achievement Award after scoring in the top 3% nationwide on the written portion of the Board Examination (now known as the Qualifying Exam). Dr. House is also one of the few Pediatric Dentists in California to maintain an active Conscious Sedation permit. She serves as an Evaluator for the Dental Board of California Conscious Sedation Permit on-site evaluation. She has also served as a consultant for the CSPD Sedation Workgroup as legislation is being enacted to ensure that sedation and general anesthesia continue to be practiced safely for children. She has given lectures on use of the Diode laser in dentistry, with an emphasis on pulp therapy. Dr. House and Dr. Renzi are continuing to gather data and they plan to publish their findings in a professional journal.
