Dr. Jimmy Chen was born in California and raised in Taiwan. He returned to Pennsylvania for high school and proceeded to graduate from Boston University with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular biology and a minor in Japanese language and literature. Dr. Chen earned his D.M.D degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
After graduation Dr. Chen received additional training as a dental resident at Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Chen honed his dental skills while treating the underserved population in the Jersey Shore area and taking care of dental emergency patients at the emergency room. Dr. Chen also attended monthly lectures given by renowned dentists and medical doctors.
As dentistry is an ever-evolving field, Dr. Chen is focused on providing the most comprehensive and current care for his patients. Apart from staying updated with the latest dental research studies, Dr. Chen also takes continuing education courses year round.
Dr. Pei-Yun Kao was born in Taiwan and raised in California. She earned a B.S. degree in Human Physiology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a D.M.D degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She worked as a dental assistant and a front office coordinator prior to becoming a dentist. Dr. Kao was inspired to pursue dentistry after shadowing and found her inner flow within the dental setting. She appreciates the beauty of dentistry in combining art, science, and oral and systemic health, while valuing each patient encounter to provide oral care and create smiles.
While at UCLA, she received a full scholarship and was a part of the Academic Advancement Program. While at Tufts, she excelled in clinical training, worked as an extern at Boston Health Care Center for the Homeless Program serving the underserved population, and volunteered in the Tufts Sleep/TMD clinic. She was also actively involved in the American Student Dental Association as an elected representative/delegate for four years. Her proactive leadership made opportunities, resources, and events available to all student body, including dental advocacy, health and wellness, career planning and networking, and community oral healthcare outreach. She was awarded and honored as the ASDA National Delegate of the Year.
As a first-generation college graduate and the first dentist in her family, Dr. Kao has always valued hard work, compassion, gratitude, and perseverance foremost in life. She embraces the same philosophy in her patient care.
Dr. Kao is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She values lifelong learning and actively takes continued education courses to stay current with forefront dental technology, materials, techniques to deliver the best comprehensive care possible to her patients. Dr. Kao is bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese.
Glenda Melendez was born and raised in Massachusetts. Glenda graduated from Everett High School and obtained training in medical billing and coding from Millennium Training Institute in Boston. While she was planning on working in the medical field, a two-month externship experience at a dental office changed her life. She found her drive and niche in the dental setting, and since then she has been working in dental billing and front desk for 11 years. Glenda is experienced and well-knowledged in handling the ins and outs of insurance matters for our patients. Glenda is diligent and dedicated in her role, and she is bilingual in English and Spanish. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys watching movies, taking long walks, and spending quality family time with her kids at theme parks, especially Six Flags.

Dr. Kao was very gentle. I have severe anxiety when seeing dentists. She made me feel at ease and explained every step to me. She gave me options for my treatment which made me feel comfortable. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Kao is fantastic! I highly recommend to come here if you want good hygienic care service in the local. She has always been kind and patient. She takes the time to explain to me what is happening, and helps me feel less anxious during my appointment. She is responsive, and honest. All these years i am afraid of seeing dentist, but today for the very first time i feel relief. Dr jimmy chen is very professional and kind. He answers all my question and took away my worries. Dr jimmy chen is currently the best dentist i have met so far. I highly recommend dr jimmy chen for everyone.

Dr. Jimmy Chen is amazing. He explains what he is doing very clearly--citing scientific studies and using metaphor to explain difficult topics. He is very patient with my many questions and thoroughly explains options for treatment. I have moved out of Everett, but I return for Dr. Chen.

A co-worker recommend this location and dr kao. I had been going to newbury dental for 20 years plus. I was very weary of coming here. I have Been here twice , the place is super clean , they ask you to wear shoe covers and the two primary dentist especially kao since I have seen her twice are nice . It's so nice not to have to travel into the city and hunt for parking and get super over charged for dental services. If you need a dentist on this side of the city it's a great place.

I am very sad not happy with today's visit dr jimmy just finish job quickly and try to get his money.i have so much pain pulling my teeth I don't recommend any one visit this clinic very sad and worst experience

I have been going to Dr. Jimmy Chen's clinic for a long time, and have consistently recommended friends to Dr. Chen. He has always been kind and patient. He takes the time to explain to me what is happening, and helps me feel less anxious during my appointment. He is responsive, and honest. I also appreciate that the clinic is very clean and new. Recently I needed to have an extraction after seeing multiple dentists in the south shore area who were repeatedly causing problems for my teeth. I had been seeing Dr. Kao prior to moving from the Malden area and trusted only her and her team to perform the necessary work. They squeezed me in and what's the most amazing is how painlessly Dr. Chow was able to pull my tooth. I seriously had considered using an office that offered sedation dentistry, but in their hands, not necessary. I will be coming back to have them continue to perform all necessary dental work - even if I have to drive 40 minutes. They're worth it. Special thanks to Paula at the front desk who was amazingly informative and helpful throughout the entire process.

Dr. Kao is the BEST! My wife is very picky about dentists; but after she saw Dr. Kao she couldn't say enough about her. We went to the appointment together. Dr. Kao is a very thorough dentist, she reviews and explains everything nicely and takes away your fear. She even flosses all your teeth after the cleaning, we feel like a VIP with her!! My wife will he going back to her for fillings soon, so happy we finally found a dentist we can stay with!!

Dr. Chen did my teeth alignment using ClearCorrect. Very happy with my experience not only with the staff and the clinic environment, but of course with Dr. Chen. He is a charmer and makes a genuine effort to make his patients feel comfortable. Very experienced and handles things with absolute confidence. He knew that I have had bad experiences with different dentists before and he made each of my visits efficient and great! I highly recommend coming to this office for his care. The location is very easy to find and it has free parking right behind the clinic. I'm so excited to find this office that i can come regularly with my family!
