Dr. Alkire started his dental career in the military after being awarded a full military scholarship to attend a prestigious, private dental school in San Francisco, CA. He was a military officer for over nine years, leaving with an Honorable Discharge in the rank of Major. His first duty station was Fort Bragg, NC where he was a General Dentist in support of the 82nd Airborne. Dr. Alkire was the only dentist at the time to step up and volunteer to be deployed out of Fort Bragg to Uzbekistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom following the attacks of 9/11. Next, he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, TX for two years during his Orthodontic Residency. Upon successful completion of his residency and passing his written Board Exams, Dr.Alkire was stationed for three years at Camp Zama, Japan. Here he was the Head Orthodontist for all Active Duty and their dependents for both Camp Zama as well as Atsugi Naval Air Base. Dr. Alkire was next stationed at Fort Lewis, WA as an orthodontist with special emphasis on orthognathic surgical cases as well as acting as the Orthodontic Mentor to the Advanced General Dentistry Residents.

Through these experiences, Dr. Alkire learned the true meaning of dedication, integrity and striving for excellence. The practice of orthodontics allows him to continue to strive for that excellence. Orthodontics is by far the most rewarding aspect of dentistry that Dr. Alkire feels he can perform. The satisfaction he gets from improving a child's or an adult's smile and in turn increasing their self-confidence through what he does is immeasurable. Making someone smile is a temporary pleasure, but giving someone a smile for a lifetime is a gift that Dr. Alkire is truly honored to be able to give.

Prior to becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Alkirereceived a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of California, Davis where he was on the High Honor Role. He then attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA where he received highest honors and was accepted into the exclusive Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Alkire then attended the Orthodontic Residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.

Although Dr. Alkire's orthodontic education is complete, he firmly believes in keeping his education current with the latest and greatest ideas and technology available. That being said, only proven techniques are good enough for his patients, and he continuously strives to learn about and implement those into his practice. Dr. Alkire is a member of the Nautilus Educational Group, New Braunfels Chapter and is the acting Orthodontic Chair.

Dr. Alkire loves both the challenge and pleasure he gets from meeting each patient for the first time. Often they are so self-conscious about their smile that they hide their smile, or just don't smile at all. He enjoys watching the progress of that same patient all the way through the end of their treatment to the point that they can't help but smile at all of those around. It's truly amazing what orthodontics and straight teeth can do for a person'sself-confidence.

What Dr. Alkire likes most about his patients are their stories. He truly enjoys getting to know as much as he can about his patients and their families. It's a unique relationship between orthodontist and patient, and for nearly two years he is privileged to be a part of that person's life. If the patient is a child, then Dr. Alkire gets to bear witness to some of their most formative and important years, and finds it a real pleasure to watch them grow into young adults.

Dr. Alkire was born and raised in the city of Santa Rosa, California which is located near Napa Valley and the heart of the wine country. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jennifer for 23years, and they are blessed to have three amazing children. Jeremy, who is 20,is attendingDartmouth College, Matthew is 18 and attends Northeastern University, and Katie is 16. Outside of work he enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, bike riding with his family, reading, and golf.

Tiffany-Scheduling Coordinator Tiffanyloves getting to know our new patients, and greeting everyone with a big smile! Shewas born in New Braunfels, and enjoys shopping, going to the movies, and having BBQs with her family and husband, Orlando.

Stevi-Scheduling Coordinator Stevi was born and raised in New Braunfels, Tx. She made the transition to the dental field in October of 2019 after working 14 years in customer service. As the person that usually greets our patients with a smile on arrival, Stevi is enjoying getting to know each of you, and is eagerly learning all that she can to better assist the team. She and her husband, Sammy enjoy spending time with their three boys, going to weekend games, looking for new restaurants to try, and attending concerts. In her spare time Stevi enjoys gardening and playing volleyball.

Kimberly-Dental Assistant Kimberly has been in the dental field for 23 years. She began her orthodontic career in 2000. Kimberly is dedicated to her job and her position as head orthodontic assistant. She has been a part of the same orthodontic practice for 20 years, and she still loves making great smiles!! Kimberly is married, and toghetherher and her husband raise their daughter and son. She is also blessed to have a bonus daughter. Besides being a mom, Kimberly enjoys going to the beach, movies, out to dinner, camping (in a camper), and hanging out with her family and friends.

Kalini-Dental Assistant As an orthodontic assistant, Kalini's highest goal is taking care of patients and making sure their experience is comfortable and positive. Shelikes getting to know them personally, and asking about what 's going on in their life. She has built some lasting connections with patients, and that's the best part of her job! Well, that and seeing the beautiful smiles at the end of treatment, of course! At home, she has two wonderful daughters and a son andenjoys spending time with them as much as shecan!

Selina has been an orthodontic assistant for eight years. She attended dental assistant school at Texas State in 2011, where she received her Dental Assisting license.Selina is also a busy mom of two fast growing boys. When she is not attending sport functions and school activities, Selina loves to hang out with her friends trying out new places.

Priscilla-Dental Assistant As one of the orthodontic assistants at Alkire Orthodontics, Priscilla's main goal is to make sure each patient has a positive experience. She enjoys getting to know our patients and seeing the beautiful smiles we create for them. Outside of the office she loves being outdoors with her fianc and their two dogs. They play lots of disc golf, hike, run , and just enjoy nature.

Kayla-Dental Assistant Kayla is a Texas Registered Dental Assistant and has been working with Dr Alkire since June of 2017. She knew she wanted to get into the dental field ever since she had braces in high school. She had an awesome experience and loved the idea of getting to help create new smiles for people and making them feel more confident! When she's not at work, she also enjoys watching Disney movies, spending time with family, shopping and photograph

Maria-Lab Technician As a lab technician Maria makes some of the more complicated appliances for our patients. She loves making people happy and creating quality appliances. She enjoys what she does, knowing that her job is helping people maintain a beautiful smile! At home, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three boys. She also loves going for runs and attending weekend soccer games and tournaments.
