Dr. Chi and his friendly, caring staff have provided me with excellent care over the last few months, as I've needed root canals and crowns. They have helped me navigate through a needle phobia in a way that no other dentist has in the past, and I no longer dread dental procedures. I recommend Alki Dental!

Update: they're trying to send me to collections even though I paid what Dr. Chi himself said it would cost for crowns! After the service they say I owe almost DOUBLE what I already paid. Beware!

Editing my review as I had a very unpleasant experience this year. I went for my regular cleaning and was really encouraged to get my wisdom teeth extracted on the side where my lower tooth was very close to the nerve. (The other side was done years ago.)While I was told by other dentists in the past that it could be a complicated extraction given the root's location and how I should get a consult from an oral surgeon for it, Dr. Chi very confidently said that he could take care of this, no problem and that I should get it done ASAP. I got it done and 6 months later, still haven't fully recovered. I was in terrible pain for weeks after the procedure. I had to ask to go back for multiple follow ups as nobody seemed to care after the procedure was done and paid for. Billing is a whole different story: Despite using my insurance and paying over $500 out of pocket, I just received another bill for over $700. Great! The manager reached out via email to help schedule my cleaning which was due and I let her know that I'm disappointed with the service and do not wish to return, to which she responded "Thank you. I will take you off the patient list". Needless to say, my husband and I will not be returning. Rodney, the dental hygienist was great!

I've been with Alki Dental for years, many years prior to Dr. Chi taking over. While there may have been some turnover in staff, I've never had any issues with the dental office and service, cleanings and other procedures have been excellent. I am not sure why other people have had such an issue with over-billing; I have had 3 crowns in the last year and am due for a 4th soon. Not once has Dr. Chi been anything but professional and helpful when planning the crowns and never has the billing office done anything nefarious. The only billing issue I had was due to my insurance company and the issue was settled relatively quickly with the help of Alki Dental's staff. I have had no issues with any of my temporary crowns or permanent crowns and I'll be a continued patient for as long as I'm able to do so.

Due to a bad experience in the 90's, y'all...I haven't gone to the dentist. I know, I know. But being an adult, I need to handle my business of self care. The team at Alki Dental eased my fears and took fantastic care of wisdom tooth and deep cleaning with such professional that I no longer dread the dentist.

**Zero stars** LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS This facility does nothing but scam patients, and their insurance. I was disgusted when I caught on to what Dr. Chi was doing. He does something called "DDS Success".. Which if you haven't heard of it, is focused around hard selling patients. He will come up with a treatment plan for all these issues that you don't really have, and say that treatment needs to be done immediately. If you don't agree after the initial treatment plan presentation, he will then repeat himself; only this time he will incorporate your health into it and make you feel as though it is detrimental to your overall well-being. If you cannot afford the treatment, he will then recommend you ask family, or take out a personal loan to pay for said treatment. I once witnessed him scam an elderly woman with dementia... Having her write him a check for $20,000 for "future treatment". The employment turnover rate here is insane, but for good reason. Many walk out on the job... That's saying something. My heart hurts for the employees and patients. Don't ever allow someone to treat you this way, or take advantage of you. Run far away from this place.

Dr Chi and staff are always professional. I had stayed away from everyone due to COVID the last year, and this previous visit was so well handled with everyone wearing masks and encouraging hand washing, that I won't hesitate to make another appointment. Very happy.

My wife and I are former patients of Alki Dental. Let me start by saying this is the worst experience we have ever had. The dentist first tried to tell my wife that she required a high-priced mouthwash that could only be purchased from their office, and that she had 14 cavities. We only saw 4, and agreed to have those filled accordingly, but the dentist proceeded to use a new (and more expensive) procedure to fill those cavities. All 4 of those fillings fell out that same night of the procedure. My wife had to return to the office shortly thereafter for the cavities to be filled using the standard procedure, but during that visit the dentist pressured her to have all the remaining cavities filled immediately. My wife and I then sought a second opinion where it was revealed that none of the remaining alleged cavities she had were actually cavities. My wife then refused to return to Alki Dental. In addition, this dentist office will not tell you if they are out of network with your insurance provider, as they definitely should tell you after they verify your benefits. They also have an incredible amount of turnover in that office, with several individuals being incapable of collecting my insurance information correctly if at all, then attempting to Bill the entire amount of a visit despite valid benefits. This dentist is only out for money and doesn't care about customer service. Despite all this and no doubt because of the turnover, we continue to receive phone calls asking us to schedule our next visit. This office is full of incompetence and ignorance, starting with the dentist. Don't go here unless you're prepared to deal with all of the above. Looking forward to a form response from the dentist here.

UNNEEDED DENTAL WORK and heavy sales pressure. I went here looking for a new primary dentist. We had recently moved to West Seattle. I called and scheduled an appointment for a cleaning as it had been about 2 years since my last cleaning (shame on me). They did the typical new patient exam and told me I had very bad periodontal disease in all 4 quadrants and that I badly needed to cap all of my molars. Sat me down for almost a half hour conversation pressuring me to go through with the procedure and wouldn't let me leave until I put down a 10% DEPOSIT. Why do I need a deposit for work you haven't done? I finally got out of there by saying I'd need to speak with my wife first as that was a lot of money. It felt like getting out of a TIME SHARE PITCH, just grueling. Went to a different dentist to get a second opinion and they said I needed a deep cleaning, but other than that everything was great. I called the next day and asked for a refund on my deposit. That all happened 2 years ago. 3 months ago I got a bill in the mail from them, don't know what it's for as they didn't do anything but talk to me in the office after looking in my mouth for 10 minutes, but whatever, I don't want to deal with you scammers, so I filled out the mailed to me form, and mailed it back to them with payment. Today I got a letter from a collection agency. That's right, they send me a bill 2 years late, I pay it and somehow they send me to collections. I checked all my statements from when I paid it, nothing. They didn't process my payment and sent me to collections.

I have been going to Alki Dental for all my dental work since 2014 (6+ years). In that time, I have had crowns, gum grafts, and implants, as well as regular cleanings. I have read other reviews and some of the points mentioned reflect my own experience. There are two points in particular I would like to elaborate on with a different perspective: 1. Staff changes frequently. Many reviews reference this. It is true: the hygienist you have for one appointment may be different than the last. As a patient, this does not bother me. The work is always performed professionally and is satisfactory. Often, during a cleaning or a procedure there will be someone shadowing, observing and learning. 2. "The hard sell". Another common reference in reviews is the feeling of being sold to. This one is hard to quantify, but I have definitely felt it, too. It feels like a sell (and it is), but the dentist knows only what he sees on my chart and during an examination, and is comparing that with an ideal based on his studies and experience. That is a much higher standard than I have, so it's up to me to drive the conversation to help calibrate on what is important to me! Dr. Chi has recommended treatments I have accepted, and he has recommended some I have declined. I have always felt that his recommendations come from a place of positive intent, and through engaging in a dialogue we have always been able to come to a mutual understanding of the trade-offs in declining a treatment vs the potential benefits that treatment might offer. All procedures I have had done at Alki Dental have gone smoothly and produced an improved result, except one. There is always a chance of not getting the perfect result; this can happen for anyone with any dentist. What matters then is where to go from there. In my case, we had a dialogue, and Dr. Chi offered to perform the procedure again, at no cost, whenever I decided I was ready. This was above and beyond. When I eventually did have the procedure again, the result was excellent. Bottom line: Dr. Chi is empathetic and professional. The staff at Alki Dental is variable, but as a patient, a quality experience is constant. I feel empowered to take control of my dental health, and that I am in good hands with a dentist I trust who genuinely cares about my well-being and doing the right thing for me.
