She earned her dental degree in 2004 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, Dr. Angela served as vice president of the Student National Dental Association, was co-editor of the Penn Dental Journal, and participated in various community service efforts in local Philadelphia schools. Dr. Angela was selected to be a National Health Service Corps scholar, and she later served two years providing dental care in a dentally underserved community.

While there, she gained a great deal of experience in craniofacial anomalies, comprehensive treatment of patients with special needs such as autism and cerebral palsy, interceptive orthodontics, trauma management, sedation dentistry, and dentistry under general anesthesia. As chief resident, Dr. Angela completed an externship in Honduras to provide dental care in an orphanage. This experience motivated her to become a long-term godparent for a child in the orphanage.

The mission statement of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry states: The ABPD certifies pediatric dentists based on standards of excellence that lead to high-quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills, and experience requisite to the delivery of quality patient care.

I truly believe in the prevention of dental problems and also educating families about healthy smiles for life. A persons impression of the dentist is developed at a very young age and I take this very seriously. My philosophy on respecting children and providing gentle dental treatment in a positive and exciting atmosphere is essential to my personal, professional, and ethical standards. The way I practice dentistry embodies all of this, while having tons of fun at the same time!

Dr. Melanie was born and raised in Peru, where she received her first Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Her passion for children was evident with each and every patient she encountered and, knowing that educating and positively influencing young patients is key, she went on to earn a diploma in early childhood education. She worked in a dental clinic located in a primary school until love (her husband) made her leave her native Peru and move to the U.S.

Once settled in Virginia, she enrolled atHoward University College of Dentistry, and graduatedon the deans list. While in dental school (for the second time!), she had her daughter, and decided to continue her studies at Howard University to pursue a specialty in pediatric dentistry and was appointed chief resident.

Dr. Melanie is incredibly passionate about her profession as a pediatric dentist and especially her patients, whom she calls her little friends. She strives to provide exceptional dental care for children while trying her absolute best to meet their individual needs because she understands no child is alike.

She believes a friendly and positive environment will create the foundation for lifelong good dental health and the parents often are her best allies in achieving and maintaining their childrens oral health. For this reason, she strives to share with parents the most current information related to pediatric dentistry, as well as tips and her own personal experiences as a mom for parents seeking solutions to tough dental care situations, from getting a child to brush their teeth to the best time to start flossing.

Dr. Breanna Donald (Dr. Bre) is a board-eligible pediatric dentist and an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Dental Association. She is very excited to return to the DMV area after a nearly nine-year hiatus, and to bring her joyful nature and her love of children to Alexandria Childrens Dentistry.

Originally from Denver, Colorado, she has since lived on both coasts and attended high school in Northern Virginia. She graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in human science and a minor in psychology. At Georgetown, she worked in the Childrens Digital Media Center and focused her psychology studies on early childhood development. From Washington, D.C., she moved to Philadelphia to obtain her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with honors for her work serving patients with medical complexities and in her leadership in local and global community oral health initiatives.

Dr. Bre completed a rigorous residency program at Boston Childrens Hospital/Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Her training was extensive in preventive and restorative care, treatment of dental trauma, and in behavior guidance techniques, including oral sedation. She took an interdisciplinary care approach to treating patients with rare syndromes and autism spectrum disorders. This training reflects a longstanding love of working with children with special needs, including spending her college summers nannying for a child with cystic fibrosis.

Above all, Dr. Bres true passion is working with children of all ages and backgrounds, and she strives to marry clinical excellence with playfulness in her practice of pediatric dentistry. Her aim is to bring kindness and compassion to address every individual childs needs and comfort level in the dental chair. She cherishes the opportunity to create positive dental experiences and build a lifetime of healthy habits.

'I practice pediatric dentistry with a magic touch, providing kind, gentle, and competent care to every child, no matter their needs. So trust your smile with Dr. Bre; the best of care is my priority!'

Fueled by an adventurous spirit, Dr. Bre has checked all 50 states off her bucket list and similarly adores exploring destinations around the world. In the future, she hopes to expand her involvement in global oral health, building off her previous fieldwork in dentistry in both Thailand and Guatemala. Also in her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga, engaging in arts and crafts, hiking, scuba diving, and spending time with her family and Australian Shepherd puppy, Stellaluna.

And Ive enjoyed every moment of it! I have a bachelorsin business from Miami University and an mastersin communication. Both degrees are beneficial in managing accounts and communicating with office staff. The best part of my job is working with the amazing team of young professionals! I am involved in our patients experience from beginning to end, from greeting them in the beginning to making sure they leave with a smile. I take all the necessary X-rays, perform cleanings, and provide patient education. No matter what Im doing, I love being around kids and helping them feel safe, secure, and happy. The best part is seeing each persons unique personality come to life!

I am DANB-certified in dental assisting and joined APD in 2020. The doctors and staff have become a huge part of my life in such a short amount of time. They make work a home away from home. Everyone wants to see each other succeed and prosper. We all make sure we always are looking out for each other, and as the saying goes, Theres no I in team!

One of my favorite things outside of work is being in nature. I love going on hikes and natural trails and living life to its fullest every chance I get. Because more than anything, we love to see you smile.

Our goal is to provide excellent dental care in a modern environment our patients love!

Did you know Dr. Angela is a mommy herself? Dr. Angela knows it is indeed a blessing to be a parent, and she also knows and understands how delicate our children are. She is very serious when it comes to treating every single child like they are her very own. It is also very important to her that parents feel comfortable with each treatment choice and they never feel rushed in any way.

We believe that kids dental care should be a fun, enjoyable experience, so weve created a positive environment our patients love to visit. From the minute you step into our practice, youll know youre in a happy place. We invite you to schedule a tour of our office so your son or daughtercan see firsthand why Alexandria Childrens Dentistry is such a great place to visit.

I had been going to a different children's dentist office before I came to ACD. I had been looking to make a change for a while because the last place was just out of the way. And although it was kid friendly... I just never felt comfortable. Soon as I walked through the door at ACD I felt completely comfortable.... Staff was so sweet and friendly.. they also made my little person feel just as comfortable as I did. They explained what needed to happen for her next visit and made sure I understood. Walked out with a smile on my face... with my daughter saying thank you mommy for bringing me here. She was really happy with the Ballon... coloring book / crayons and the rest of the goodies that came in her welcome bag.Glad I made the change... Thank you!!

They were very patient and kind with my son who was traumatized because I had brought him to a general dentist beforehand for a cavity fill. Thank you guys so much for putting him at ease and making the appointment go by smoothly! He now loves his dentist.

We love the Alexandria Children's Dentistry. My son, who is 3, has seen Troy three times now for his cleaning and he loves him. He is patient, talks us through everything and keeps his patients comfortable the whole time. He greets his patients, remembers things well from previous visits and connects with them on personal levels, these small touches really make Alexandria Children's Dentistry a community place. We've never had a negative experience thanks to Troy! My son will play with the bouncy balls and gifts in the treat bag for the next 6 months and on the way to the dentist this morning he told me he was feeling "happy because he likes going to the dentist, though also a little bit nervous"- Another example of things they are doing right to create a positive experience from a young age! Today we saw Dr. Bre and she is phenomenal, she carries herself with grace and calmness and even made the experience fun for our 6 month old tag along. You can tell she loves her work, has patience and enjoys children, exactly what i want in a pediatric dentist.

'Bedside manner' with kids and parents is great. Questions answered and patiently. Care given seems careful and thorough. Didn't quite like that my kids had to wait 15 minutes longer then the typical 5-10 min delay to see a dentist after cleaning staring at a ceiling because of '"Another exam" (aka office party/celebration). That was poor form

Great experience. The kids love to go the place and enjoy their experience of dental work! My kids love it when they come out with a surprise present to take home with them. The parking space can be improved as parking is sometimes a problem in the area.

I went with ny 4 year old, was told that I would always be able to come back with her.We went and I got told no even though before I was told yes (I even got a babysitter for my other 2 kiddos). My kiddo came out with tears dry in her face and when I asked did something happened they told me no and that everything went good. After I bought her a snack and she refused to eat, that afternoon she refused to eat again so I checked her and she had like a blister in her upper lip. I message them and they told me that she probably bit herself and that the dentist said that nothing happened when she was with them but I can't corroborate this because they didn't let me in with her. Safe to say, I should've never stayed behind and took her to another practice. Dentist over there doesn't believe it was a bite and he tried to just checked her teeth which before we have had no issue with and she was traumatized.

As a new client, this was a great experience for the kids. The waiting room was so fun and interactive with a mini theater, books and a light up touch wall. I have to mention when the kids were getting teeth cleaned, there's a tv above for them to watch! Also, with my daughter being on the spectrum, all the staff were patient, caring and did whatever was needed to make her feel comfortable!
