Dr. Alexander was born and raised in Portland, Oregon graduating from Sunset High School in 1990. He went on to study Biology at Santa Clara University, graduating with a Bachelors in Science from Santa Clara in 1994. From there, he went on to Dental School in Chicago at Northwestern University where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1998. He then returned home to Portland and completed a General Practice Residency at Portland Veteran's Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Alexander has been in private practice in his current location since 1999.
Dr. Alexander has been an active volunteer since 2007 for the Donated Dental Services Program, a humanitarian service providing dental care to disabled, elderly, and medically comprimised people. He also has enjoyed the opportunity to donate time on board the Medical Teams International Mobile Dental Van, providing children in the Portland area much needed dental care.
Dr. Alexander is an active member of the American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, and the Washington County Dental Society. He also is an active member of the Sunset Study Club, a local group of over 50 dentists and specialists dedicated to furthering their education with the latest trends and topics in dentistry.
He and his wife, Amy, also an Oregonian, live in SW Portland and are the proud parents of three boys. When not working, Dr. Alexander enjoys anything in the outdoors with his family, running, and golf. He also has particularly enjoyed the opportunity to coach his kids in both soccer and basketball.

I have been going here for years and I honestly don't trust any dentist more. I personally struggled with needing a tooth implant and other unique situations and this practice not only took card of me every step of the way, but they also know great teeth specialists to recommend you to if need be who treat you just like they do. Also, I finally got my husband (who hadn't been to a dentist since before I met him) to start coming here. He went from being afraid of dentists due to some teeth maintenance issues to now has his teeth under control and looks forward to his normal dental cleanings. Overall, I can't recommend this practice enough.

This is a wonderful office! Every one ( from the front office staff, to the hygienist) is warm, friendly and professional! Dr. Alexander is never rushed , and always is available for questions. They make it a point to build relationships and are invested in your health! I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I love going to the dentist's office! Maria is the best dental hygienist ever. Friendly, gentle, thorough and always so attentive. Dr. Alexander is always amazing! The staff is very welcoming and warm. Highly recommended!

Dr Alexander and the entire staff are highly professional, skilled and knowledgeable in all aspects of dental care and hygiene practices. Patient care and comfort is the top priority. I never feel like the appointment is rushed and they effectively listen to all concerns. Front office staff are very friendly and efficient. I have been going to this dentist office since I was about five years old. I'm 53 now, so that should say something. When Dr. Alexander came in, it was a very smooth transition. His staff are kind, knowledgable, and gentle. They have always made setting up appointments easy and work hard to schedule with your favorite hygienist. I think I've been there twice during pandemic protocols and they have been beyond professional in a situation that could make many apprehensive. Dr. Alexander's office has been a part of my life longer than any other professional business. I'm sure they'll be the ones who set me up with dentures when that time comes. Definitely "family" dentistry.

They are the best dentist I have ever experienced. From the minute you walk in you feel the warmth and caring atmosphere. My hygienist Maria is an angel. She is so gentle and thorough. I've seen other hygienist as well when Maria is not in, and they're wonderful also. Love Alexander Family Dentistry!!!

The team at Alexander Family Dentistry is truly the best I've ever experienced. Not only are they nice and professional, their services are perfection. The cleanings are thorough and their work is top-notch. When I did have a filling replaced by Dr. Alexander, there was no sensitivity during or afterwards. Dr. Alexander and his staff have been diligent and very professional over the last 5 years during which I had numerous issues. These included root canals , extractions, implants and crowns as well as bite guards and fillings usually involving other dental professionals . I feel he has been one of the best 'professionals ' I have worked with and I would recommend him to anyone needing dental care.
