Alderwood Dental was founded in 1981 by Dr. John W. Shumaker after graduating from the University of Washington. John grew up in Western Washington and made it his continued mission to give back to his community by offering the highest quality dental services.
Kristin Sewell has been a hygienist for 25 years. She likes her job and cares deeply about her patients. She is married with three boys and enjoys skiing and hiking in her free time. She also has two dogs, Emmit and Earl.

I've been a patient of Dr Shu for close to 40 years. He and his staff are very knowledgeable, caring and absolutely the best group ever. Highly recommend Dr Shu for your dental care

Best dentist ever. I have been seeing Dr Shumaker for over 35 years. My whole family and friends love him. Very gentle.The whole staff is amazing and kind.

My husband and I have been going to this dentist for some 40+ years. You will always get an honest appraisal of your options, never pushed into the most expensive options. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, expert at navigating insurance issues, friendly and just go out of their way to make your visit as stress free as possible. My husband has Parkinson's disease and they've dealt with him with kindness and understanding.

BEST Dentist EVER. Highly recommend going to Alderwood Dental - Everyone there is soooo nice - Nice clean offices too. I had a lot of dental work there and NEVER felt any pain.

I have been going to Dr Shumaker for about 35 years and it's always been a great experience. The support staff has been the same the whole time except their long time hygienist retired a few years ago. For some reason I seemed to have aged but none of them have. Dr Shumaker is always on the cutting edge of dentistry.

This is a dentist you can really trust. His staff has been with him forever (which says a lot for a dentist) and they are all wonderful. I have been going to him for a few years & I am so happy I found him. He does great work.
