Dr. Smith grew up in Memphis and attended Memphis State University. He graduated from University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1982 and Residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 1987. He has been in private practice since and has held a part-time teaching position in the UT Department of OMS since 1987. He was certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 1989.
Dr. Tutor was born and raised in a small town in NE Arkansas where he spent most of his time enjoying the outdoors and sports. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Biology in 2007 and then went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry in 2011 with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree.
Dr. Tutor practiced general dentistry for a year and half in Northeastern Arkansas after graduation before deciding to return to education and attempt a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed a one year internship at UTSouthwestern/Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas in 2013. After this, Dr. Tutor completed a 4 year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA in 2018. After graduation, Dr. Tutor worked for a year and half at the Memphis VA Medical Center prior to becoming partner in our practice.
Dr. Tutor is a current member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons along with a member Memphis Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member of the Tennessee Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons.

"Bedside manner? Never heard of her." - Dr. Vance Tutor, probably. My first experience here was as fine as a tooth extraction can be. My second experience left me in tears, not out of pain but exclusively due to how Tutor spoke to me during and after the procedure. Avoid at all costs.

WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AT A DENTIST!!! I informed them that I had Anxiety prior to my appointment. Dr. Tutor talked really fast with no time for questions. I had a full anxiety attack and he never asked was I ok. He left the room and own to the next. He was rough and did not pay attention to my well being. I have never experienced high blood pressure before, when he finished my pressure was sky high at stroke level, he didn't seem concerned at all. He never offered gas to calm me down. I have been having nightmares and headaches since. I would not recommend at all. It wouldn't let me leave ZERO STARS!!!!

The staff was very friendly and Dr.Peck was amazing. He explained the whole procedure to me and also my options. He made sure that it was pain free as much as possible. I highly recommend this place and him to anyone.I will definitely be using him in the future.

Yesterday was my second tooth extraction experience with Dr. Smith and I have to say that I had so many concerns I have a lot of health issues I have a lot of anxiety. The nurse was very sweet and kind I wish I knew her name she put the IV in the back of my hand she put the mask on my nose I remember asking her if it was oxygen she said it was a mixture of nitrous and oxygen and that's the last thing I remember until she touched me on the shoulder and said wake up now it's over I couldn't believe it I did not remember anything they were wonderful. I didn't remember the novocaine shots nothing. I didn't have a lot of pain that night at home. He pulled 3 teeth on the right side. 1 on top and 2 on the bottom. These couldn't have been easy as they were all teeth that the crowns had come off long ago and the tooth was decayed away and there was not anything much to grab ahold of. Dr Smith is a wonderful surgeon and his staff were all kind and professional. P Morris

Antibiotics given to me gave me a yeast infection and they did not give me the precaution med for it. When I called and left a voicemail for it. They never called back!

The staff is AWESOME at both locations they don't keep you waiting an unreasonable amount of time. Dr.Peck he didn't rush me off and explained everything that was going on with me in detail. I loved everything about my visit and I despise going to the dentist yet they made my experience very pleasant !

The receptionist are VERY RUDE & cold! They have hung the phone up on me in the past. Today was the last straw. When I got there the receptionist didn't even greet me. She went through the paperwork very fast and was acting like she didnt want me there. I honestly just didnt feel welcome there. I decided to leave and go elsewhere. I drove almost 2 hours to get here & now Im on my way back home. I was scheduled to get 3 extractions but with the attitudes in that place I didn't feel comfortable letting them do any work on me.
