Dr. Winter has trained with some of the world 's most prominent dental sedation specialists. He is one of the select few who has earned a Fellowship in the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. He is rapidly becoming well known as the Albany, NY area 's leading dentist for those patients who want to 'snooze' through their dental visits.
Dr. Winter has also trained with and is part of the teaching staff of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, where he trains dentists and other health providers in the use of Botox & dermal fillers (e.g. Juvederm & Restylane) and how to incorporate their usage as part of his philosophy regarding total facial esthetics.

Kelly has been a dental hygienist for over 30 years. The field of dental hygiene has changed immensely over that time period. Kelly has stayed current with new science therapies and technologies. She has a license to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia. Hygiene mastery training in (LBR and LAPT) laser therapy and Perio Protect are some of the advanced periodontal treatments she offers.
Cara joined the Albany Dental Care, P.C. team in 2014. She graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 2007, with an Associate degree in Applied Science. She later obtained her certificate in dental hygiene anesthesia in 2015 and advanced hygiene laser training in 2020. Her favorite part of working with Dr. Winter and our team is helping dental phobic patients become comfortable in the dental setting again, even when they feel it may be impossible!
When not at work Cara spends most of her time with her husband and daughter. They enjoy camping, kayaking, hiking and most anything outdoors in the summer. Most often you will find them in the Adirondacks soaking up the peace and quiet by the lake or in the mountains!
Lyn is our lead dental assistant and clinical supervisor. She has 39 years of experience, almost all of which have been at Albany Dental Care, P.C. with Dr. Winter. She earned her dental assisting certificate from the Westchester School. The patient experience is her priority. Her extensive knowledge and calming personality help to comfort patients before, during and after their dental procedures.
After relocating to this area in July of 2020 from Massachusetts, Lucia joined the Albany Dental Care, P.C. team in 2021. She was born and raised in Romania and completed her Masters in Science with a major in biology and a Bachelors in Nursing. Her path changed course in 2008 when she moved to the United States. Lucia settled in Cape Cod and has worked in the dental field ever since. She furthered her career in 2010 by completing the Oral Radiology Certification Course at Cape Cod Community College.
Kim graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Musical Theatre. She has been in the dental field since 1991 when she worked at her first dental office in Boston. She joined Dr. Winters team 6 years ago. Her main focus is to make the atmosphere at our office welcoming and to always put customer service as the primary objective. She believes in always going above and beyond for our patients and loves making a positive difference in the lives of others in everything she does.
She also studies and teaches martial arts along with her husband Dean. She continues using her talents in music by singing in a popular local rock & roll band. Her music is played on local radio stations and she does large shows such as the CDPHP Corporate Challenge, various concert series in the park and plays at many local venues. Her band has been recognized by the Times Union as one of the Capital Regions Top Local Rock bands. As a graduate of Syracuse University who lost many dear friends on Pan Am 103 her motto in life is to remember them and to #actforward in their memory.

I have an extreme fear of going to the dentist......until now! Dr. Winter and his team know I am extremely nervous when I need dental care. I cannot express my gratitude enough to him and his team for the care they give me.He and his team have proven they truly care about their patients. If you have any apprehension about getting dental care talk to Dr. Winter. Believe me when I tell you he is truly the most caring Dentist I have ever been to. I have had a fear of going to the dentist from childhood. I've had several dentists and every visit was filled with fear starting the night before the appointment. I was literally told once that patients like me are why dentists retire early. Going to Dr Winters was a completely different experience. On the first visit I burst into tears when they asked my name and thought that it would go downhill from there. It's hard to explain how badly I wanted to bolt for the door. But I stayed and am pleased to say that is did NOT go downhill. The staff at the office were so kind and reassuring. It's the first time I haven't felt like a child for having all the fears that I take to every visit. Dr Winters explained everything that needed to be done and by the time he had finished I felt like I could trust him and his staff. This is huge for someone who literally has a phobia of going to the dentist. The procedure was done a week later, and I can honestly say it was the best experience with a dental appointment that I have ever had. Are the nerves gone? Not at all. But I know it's ok to feel that way and that it can be eased. I never in my life imagined that I would have good experience at a dentist office, but I truly did. I will be going back to Dr Winters moving forward. The atmosphere in your office is one of calmness and it's contagious it seems. Thank you all for your professionalism, kindness, and most of all your patience.

I have been a patient of Dr. Winters for 30 years and would not think of going to any other dentist. His care team is friendly and helpful. Dr. Winters has always been professional, friendly and able to help me with whatever problem I am having at that time. He is awesome!

Have never had a dentist and their staff be so kind and supportive of my fear. I fell asleep and woke up and all the work was done. Dr. Winter does amazing work and I love my new smile!

This office is amazing. Dr Winter has a great sense of humor, and does a great job. The whole staff is kind and helpful. They have handled insurance issues better than any medical office I have been to as well. I'm very happy with my experiences here. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Dr. Harvey Winter and his staff are thoroughly competent and amazingly thoughtful. It is difficult to adequately express my appreciation for what he and his staff did for me. I am writing this to let others, who might be like me and are terrified of the dentist, to know how wonderful he and his staff are. I am 67 and have gone for regular six-month checkups all my adult life. I go regularly for checkups not because I like the dentist, but because I dreadfully fear the dentist. I do so hopefully small things will be caught and corrected before they become major. I am extremely embarrassed about my fear of the dentist. My dentist told me I have a tooth that has developed several cracks in it around the filling. To make matters worse, I have developed crack lines down the front of my two front teeth which I also noticed have been slowly chipping away. My dentist told me I would need to have a crown as soon as possible over the cracked tooth otherwise it could degrade to needing a root canal. The front teeth were not as serious. I did not know exactly what a crown or root canal were, but I was sure they were worse to experience than a painful death! This news was of course my dreaded lifelong fear to hear. I asked about sedation dentistry, but she was not certified to do it. She recommended Dr. Winter. As soon as I got home, I called Dr. Winter's office and fortunately they just had a cancelation so had an opening the next day for the new patient/preliminary exam. They asked that my recent x-rays be emailed over and informed me that Dr. Winter would have an introductory zoom call with me later that day. I was very impressed with his initiative and genuine concern to host such a call on short notice. During the call, he patiently listened to and addressed my concerns and fears, and explained what he would do. His genuine caring and sense of humor greatly helped to begin to put me at ease. At the end of the call, he personally scheduled a time slot for me for the actual work to be done should I chose to do so. No pressure at any time just compassionate support. At the prelim exam in his office, he carefully examined my all my teeth and concurred with the original assessment. A couple of his nursing staff also came in to introduce themselves in a gentle and caring manner. In person, he was genuinely thoughtful and supportive with a comforting relaxing sense of humor. At the end of the exam, he asked if I would like to proceed with treatment and I said yes. He checked all my prescriptions and then gave me a couple of pills intended to relax me with explicit directions on how and when to take before the procedure. When my wife and I arrived at his office for the procedures, he greeted us in the comfort of his waiting room (not in the terrifying dentist chair with all the scary equipment around!). It was in the waiting room he gave me one more pill to swallow and a tiny amount of something to drink. This was the actual conscious sedation (no needles) he explained to me earlier. The next thing I remember I woke up in my recliner chair at home several hours later drowsy but with no pain of any kind! I have no recollection of getting in or out of the dentist chair room. I swear I do not remember anything of the procedures. It was fantastic! My wife told me I was a bit wobbly on my feet as they moved me in to the dentist chair and later out to the car. The crown was done, and I have what looks like two new front teeth! No pain or discomfort at all. I just drifted in and out of welcomed sleep at home that afternoon. My wife told me Dr. Winter called her that afternoon to check on me. The next day, on his day off, he called to speak to me directly to further follow up. In closing, I cannot say enough positive things about my first experience with sedation dentistry that Dr. Winter and his staff provide. They are amazing and I strongly recommend them especially if your fear the dentist as much as I do.

Apparently, I forgot to finish this post when I had the extraction: Very friendly staff and Harvey is a great dentist. Had an extraction today and Harvey let me know everything that was going to happen before he started. Funny guy that gets you to relax in difficult situations, even sings oldies while working!

Do not hesitate to go to Dr. Winter! I have the biggest fear of dentists, from bad past experiences. For this reason, I endured tooth pain for much too long. When I reached the point of not being able to eat anything, I researched dentists. I kept going back to Dr. Winter's website. They were able to get me in very quickly, even though I wasn't an established patient. I was escorted in by Lucia, who is a total sweetheart. I was very nervous, but she patted my hand and reassured me. Dr. Winter came in and also put me at ease. He has the most wonderful bedside manner. Needless to say, it was the best dental experience I have ever had and will not hesitate to go back, or refer him to others. If you need any kind of dental work, pick up the phone and call now!

I called Albany Dental Care after finding them during a web search for emergency dental care. I had severe tooth pain... it was so painful I hadn't slept for 3 nights. I was not an established patient with their practice but they brought me in right away. They addressed the pain, referred me to an amazing endodontist for an almost immediate root canal (which was, believe it or not, a quick and pain free experience), and have since given me a post and a permanent crown, a much needed cleaning, and extracted another tooth that was cracked and decayed and not salvageable. This outfit is great. They address issues immediately, they get back to you right away, everyone in the office is friendly and professional, and Dr. Winter is a master of his craft. Even the tooth extraction was quick and pain free. All my future dental care will be with Albany Dental Care. Excellent outfit.

I just want to say that I have been a patient of Dr. Harvey Winter for many years. I have an ongoing problem with a tooth and I went to see Dr. Winter for his advice on this matter. He is so calm, patient, kind and truly caring about all of us. That is truly a rarity these days. His motto is "I want to save your teeth if at all possible"! I appreciate him and feel blessed to have him as my dentist! He is a wonderful man with a true heart! I am so thankful my daughter recommended him to me.

I have been going to Dr Winter for many years. Thanks to Dr Winter and his staff, I have overcome my fear of dental work. I always opt for nitrous oxide to ease my anxiety. The doctor and his staff are thoroughly professional and have always made sure that I am comfortable during procedures. They do a great job.

I was really scared and nervous about my dental procedure because it always takes a lot to get me numb, and it did this time, too. But Doctor Winter and his assistant Lyn were so calm and reassuring - and funny! - that it all went just fine. I really appreciate their professionalism and kindness.
