Dr. Brett Johnson was born and raised in Fairbanks, where he spent his youth playing soccer, football, track, swimming, skiing and mountain biking. He left Fairbanks for two years as a missionary in Albania. He attended Brigham Young University, where he obtained a bachelors degree in biology, and continued to pursue his educational goals at the University of Colorado, Denver.
Dr. Johnson is happily married to his wife, Lexi, and they have four wonderful children, Evy, Grant, Wells and Clive. They enjoy spending quality family time together, which includes camping, cooking and movie nights. The Johnsons love living in Alaska. They are amazed by the welcome feeling of this great community.
Dr. Johnson understands that dentistry is more than treating teeth. He listens to his patients, and together they formulate an oral health plan. He makes it a priority to stay knowledgeable in the ever-changing field of dentistry; as such, he earns more than five times the continuing education required by the state of Alaska. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Alaska Dental Society and the Anchorage Dental Society. He is also a member of the Spear Faculty Club, a fellow of Implant Pathway and a member of the American Academy of Clear Aligners.
Sara, our operations manager, recently joined forces with Alaska Smiles and came to us with 15 years of dental experience. Sara is passionate and competent when it comes to dental care; she was recognized as VIP Woman of the Year in 2016 by the National Association of Professional Women, as well as being the recipient of the 2017 Crown Council Team Member of the Year Award recognizing her for always going above and beyond the regular duty of care for her team and patients. Outside of dental care, she enjoys horseback riding, coaching and choreographing for competitive cheer teams, going to her family cabin on Big Lake, and spending time with her husband, daughter and two dogs. My passion is taking care of patients and my team, I will always go the extra mile to answer any questions you have from insurance to dental treatment.
Brook completed her dental assisting degree from UAA and started her dental career as a certified dental assistant in 2003. She then saw a future in dental hygiene, and in 2009, she completed her hygiene degree from UAA while in her ninth month of pregnancy! In 2013, Brook received a national award from the Crown Council for dental hygienist of the year. Her spirit and effect on her patients and team members is best described by an out of the office activity: her avid love of playing and watching hockey. Brook enjoys playing womens hockey and occasionally has to spend time in the penalty box for playing rough when it is not allowed! She brings that same enthusiasm to the office every day. Brook is married to her husband, Gregg, and they have two children, Camden and Jordyn. She is very passionate about dentistry, and her patients feel like they are part of her family so much that she gives out hugs regularly!
Lyuba has been a dental assistant since 2000. She was born and raised in Russia and moved to Alaska in 2002. She is proud to say she became a U.S. citizen in 2004. Lyuba enjoys working in the dentistry field because it offers her the opportunity to help people. She finds it very rewarding to see people leave the office smiling and feeling good about themselves. She knows that every patient who leaves our office has the highest quality of dental care that is available today. Lyuba loves camping, hiking, working out and staying in shape, but most of all, spending time with family and friends. She is so proud to be a part of such a great team at Alaska Smiles.
Morgan was born and raised in Soldotna and recently moved to Anchorage with her fianc. She loves to fish, travel, and spend time with her family. She is new to working in the dental field but grew up around dentistry and has always been interested in it. Morgan enjoys working with the community because she enjoys building relationships with our patients and her coworkers. She says Alaska Smiles is very efficient and has an easy flowing work environment. The best part about working here is that I get the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of people. We are happy to have Morgan as part of our team!
Yelenna was raised in Anchorage. In her free time, she loves being with her two dogs, her husband Cory and their 5-year-old son, Ryan. They all especially love the outdoors. Yelenna really started enjoying her job when she got into dental assisting. Helping others is a true passion of hers, and she hopes to continue to make it her goal to have every patient come and go with a smile.
