Dr. Chernick is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry. He completed a general dentistry internship at Long Island Jewish Hospital College of Dentistry and then served as a dentist in the U.S. Navy. In the early 1980s, Dr. Chernick was an assistant professor of dental materials at New York University. In 1990 when the field was in its infancy, Dr. Chernick became interested in Oral Appliance Therapy for treatment of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea and began seeing patients and working with researchers on the development and use of a number of oral appliances. He is on the staff of both Nyack Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital Sleep Centers. He is a member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and in 2001 passed his Boards in Oral Appliance Therapy. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Chernick still maintains an excellent practice in general dentistry with emphasis on family and cosmetic dentistry, dental materials and all phases of prosthetic dentistry including implants. He was a founding member of the Rockland County Implant Study Club. He was president of the Rockland County Dental Society, 2004-2005 and served on the Board of Governors of the Ninth District Dental Association component of the New York State Dental Association in 2006.
Dr. Chernick has lectured widely on Dental Sleep Medicine at both Nyack and Good Samaritan Hospitals as well as across the country. He has lectured and given seminars as far away as Taiwan. In October 2010 he was a featured speaker on Oral Appliance Therapy at the 1st Annual Meeting of the New York State Society of Sleep Medicine. He teaches OAT in the Continuing Education Program of the 9th District Dental Association. Dr. Chernick holds the position of Research Associate Division of Biomechanical Engineering at Cooper Union in Manhattan.
Kayti joined our team when Michele retired (after 23 years as office manager) and has risen to the task. She had big shoes to fill and has done so admirably. Kayti is experienced and responsible for all your insurance needs, billing questions and bookkeeping that is so vital to running a dental office. And she does all this with a smile on her face, all day, every day. We are very fortunate to have Kayti lead our team.
Irene is our newest dental assistant, sharing the job with Taylor while she is in school. Irene brings experience working in a physical therapy office and will be helping the rest of the team in any capacity as needed. She is a great addition and we are happy to have Irene join us.
Taylor has been with us since 2017 as a chairside dental assistant. Her youth and cheerfulness are an absolute pleasure to work with and I must say, she knows every step of every procedure, sometimes even before I do. That is the hallmark characteristic of the finest chairside assistant, Taylor also helps with medical insurance for our sleep disorder patients and when not working in the office is a Nursing student at Dominican College.
Michele was our office manager since 1996. She was responsible for all administrative aspects of the practice, Michele was especially skilled at getting our patients the best insurance coverage that they are entitled to. Michelle was a very able mentor to Kayti, our current office manager.

I had the worst fear of going to see my dentist but then I met Dr. Chernick and he is just so great at talking to his patients and is very thorough when it comes to explaining the process. This really helps me relax when I actually know all the things specifically. I'm so lucky to have found him.

I chipped both my front teeth and was not happy with the way I looked. Dr. Chernick did a great job bonding them and they now look perfect. He is the most competent and thorough dentist I have ever known. Highly recommended.

I've been a patient of Dr. Chernick for over 30 years and can attest to his professional expertise as well as the calm, tranquil environment of his practice. Dr.Chernick's skills are all -encompassing so every predicament can be taken care of in his office. He has always been meticulous, never in a rush and never over-books his practice.( I always appreciated the amount of time he will spend with me). Every situation is primarily approached looking at the least evasive intervention. Other options with their pros and cons will always be discussed offering educated, informative approaches to individual circumstances. Dr. Chernick is one of the few providers I have 100% confidence and trust in.

I have been scared of going to the dentist my whole life. While I have had terrible experiences and do not have the best genes as far as teeth go, Dr. Chernick completely changed my perception about going to the dentist. He carefully explains exactly what he is going to do in a calm and gentle way so you are not surprised or shocked as to what is going to happen next. Dr. Chernick is kind and very caring and extremely attentive to the needs and feelings of the patient. Every consult is professional and relaxing. The only regret I have is not going to him sooner.
