Welcome to Alameda Pediatric Dentistry, where our mission is to make kids smile! Since we first opened our practice nearly 50 years ago, we have built a reputation for providing exceptional dental care that families trust. Today, we serve patients who visit from all over the Bay Area to receive unrivaled personal service and passionate, professional care. As we have grown, we have modernized our operations and technology to exceed industry standards, yet our beginning as a small-town practice continues to define our culture and values.

We are proud to offer convenient, compassionate, and comprehensive dental care to families in four Bay Area locations: Alameda, Oakland, Pleasanton, & Brentwood. All of our offices were custom designed to accommodate specific family needs. APD is the only pediatric dental office in the Bay Area with both on-site orthodontics and a fully equipped sedation center.

Alameda Pediatric Dentistry has deep roots within the Alameda community. Remarkably, there are several employees who have continued to work with us for over 30 years. In fact, Dr. David Perry has been with APD since 1973! Additionally, many of our employees are former APD patients, including Dr. Sharine Thenard, who became a partner in 2005. She continues the legacy of providing the same attentive, individualized care that she received as a child in our practice. Dr. Mylinh Ngo partnered with APD in 2008 and brings immense empathy and expertise in pediatric dentistry.

Alameda Pediatric Dentistry - Pediatric dentist in Pleasanton, CA

Its so special for me to be able to care for the kids in my community. I was born and raised right here in Alameda. A graduate of Lum School, Wood Middle School, and St. Josephs Notre Dame High School, I get to see many of my peers and watch their kids grow up in our office.

After graduating from UC Davis and UC San Francisco Dental School, I went to residency at the Childrens Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and earned my Masters of Science from The Ohio State University. In 2005, I returned to my hometown of Alameda and in 2006 I became board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

In my professional life, I have been very involved in causes that promote pediatric oral health, and have served as President of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, President of the Alameda County Dental Society, Trustee for the California Dental Association, and have served on numerous Councils and Committees on the local, state, and national dental level. I have been honored to reach status of Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as Fellow of the American College of Dentists.

Outside of the office, I spend my time around town with my three funny and joyful children, who keep me busy beyond belief, my wonderful husband who is a constant source of support, and my adorable Labradoodle, Kona, who tolerates the chaos of the household and is always ready to cuddle and slobber.

It is a privilege for me to help kids and guide families how to achieve good oral health each and every day. Children are such precious gifts and I feel lucky that I can use my skills in detail, empathy, patience and knowledge in dental care just for them. I spent my childhood growing up in sunny San Diego and have loved calling the Bay Area my home for the past sixteen years. I completed my specialty training in pediatric dentistry at UCSF and I received my dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where I graduated among the top of the class.

I am involved in teaching the UCSF residents practice management as a volunteer clinical professor. I hold privileges at Kaiser Oakland hospital, the UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital Oakland, and the Walnut creek outpatient surgery center. In my spare time, I love using my creativity for arts and crafts, music, and baking healthy eats. I have two sweet girls who brighten my life and keep me smiling. I am an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association and Southern Alameda County Dental Society.

As a Hayward native, my home and heart belong in the Bay Area. I lived in Southern California for five years where I earned my bachelor degree in psychology-biology, then spent seven years at the University of California, San Francisco, where I graduated at the top of my class earning my dental degree of science and subsequently received my orthodontic specialty training and masters degree in orofacial sciences.

In the past decade, since graduating from Orthodontic residency, I have been fortunate to practice orthodontics in some amazing pediatric/orthodontic group practices. I am super excited to join the dynamic team at Alameda Pediatric Dentistry, and Im eager to meet all the amazing patients and help them create their beautiful smiles.

I have three amazing and high-energy children who keep me on my toes with the latest dance moves. My favorite is the Floss, probably more for its name than the moves! As a family, we enjoy the simple pleasures of staying home for movie or games nights and appreciate any opportunity we have to take vacations and explore the world. I can often be found scouring Pinterest for new arts and crafts projects or recipes for sugar cookies.

Dr. Wahl and his assistant, Jennel, are simply amazing. They work together really well to ensure that their patients feel safe, comfortable and distracted from the procedure! My daughter has been going here since she was born (she's 10 now) and we are satisfied with the services every single time. They ease her anxieties so well... she always goes in a bit nervous but comes out smiling! They are very communicative and make a great atmosphere for children... Dr. Wahl talked through the entire process, step by step, to my daughter, as she was on the table, and was sure to constantly check in with her to make sure she's comfortable. She had a somewhat dental emergency, and the receptionist, I think her name is Cam, was able to get us in the day of. This isn't the first time she's worked around our needs and scheduled us for last minute appointments... she's awesome and makes sure that we understand the services, billing and insurance, every single time. There are no surprises when it comes to copays, pricing, etc.. I am really impressed with this office and am glad that my daughter has such an amazing team to keep her teeth squeaky clean!

Alameda Pediatric Dentistry is a dream for parents and kids. Everyone there treated us like royalty and the office is filled with playful decor to make children feel relaxed. My son watched his favorite Disney flick while the dentist inspected his teeth. And Dr. Wahl is super friendly, patient and clear with explanations. I wish I could go there!

I have been coming to the Alameda Pediatric Dentistry for almost 8 years (started coming when my daughter was 1). I mainly go to the Pleasanton office but have gone to the Alameda office. The reasons I love it: 1. The doctors are ALL amazing! 2. Tien in the Pleasanton staff is phenomenal! She is so sweet, understanding and as a busy mom she sends me reminders because she knows I lose track of things. 3. The hygienist are so gentle especially because my daughter freaks out! 4. We never wait more than a couple of minutes to get into the room. I HIGHLY recommend checking them out! Thank you to all of the staff!
