Digital X-rays offer a huge advantage in early detection and preventive services. Advanced image manipulation and analysis, for example, allows your doctor to detect early stages of gum disease through recognition of bone level changes, or by evaluating the results against a previous treatment.

An intraoral camera is an indispensable diagnostic and educational tool. The tiny video camera moves around inside of your mouth and generates a tooth by tooth video exam of your teeth. Using an intraoral camera allows patients to better understand their dental needs by seeing what the dentist sees and then having it explained.

Lasers are a non-surgical approach to arresting the progression of periodontal disease. Following scaling and root planing, a laser is used to significantly reduce the bacterial colonies and decontaminate the infected periodontal pocket. Lasers also remove the infected tissue lining the periodontal pocket. As the infected tissue is removed, microscopic blood clots form and your body's natural healing response takes over. As you heal, the tissue reattaches to the bone and your gums return to a healthy infection-free state.

I waited 1 hour to be seen for my appointment, so I felt as if they did not respect my time. They also changed my original appointment time to squeeze someone else in without asking me. The dentist was great though and the office has updated technology and tools. I'd go back but highly recommend that the office works on their communication.

Dr. Kim's work did not even last 6 months I had an Onlay from Dr. Dong Kim and it was horrible. He firstly put it on wrong the first time and had to rip it out during the same appointment. The final product was also bad and I am having to replace it not even 6 months later. I paid $900 for his work to not even last 6 months. When I tried to talk to Dr. Kim about my continued problems with that tooth he didn't remeber me at all and never answered my question. I was also told by them that I needed expensive periodonatal cleanings for gum disease and when I opted for the most basic treatment was still told I needed the expensive add ons when I came for my appointment and needed to negotiate with them again. I have since gotten a second opinion on my gum health and was told I only need the regurlar cleaning every 6 months which is reccomended for everyone anyways. The woman who took my xrays however was very kind and efficient.

I waited three hours to not even have my cleaning. I was told to reschedule after I'd waited all that time because at that point it was closing time and everyone had to get ready to close for the day. I missed work meetings.

One of the worst dentist experiences I ever had. Here's why: 1. The xray technician put the plastic on the instrument for my mouth and then put on her glove - in that order. Fortunately I interrupted her and said she didn't put the glove on first. She was polite but started to disagree, then told me maybe I was right. Then she said there was someone with covid in her household. (I wish I was making this up but this is exactly what happened). Again she was polite but I feel I got lucky that I was able to speak up and insist on the new plastic cover or else I might have gotten exposed to covid. 2. The dentist hit my tooth with a very cold instrument that caused me to wince in pain. Then she wanted to continue with the same instrument, pressuring me to just have more pain even though I was obviously too sensitive for it. She only agreed to stop after I really had to insist repeatedly. She just didn't seem to care that she had just made me wince in pain from a simple probing exam. 3. The dentist took a look at a root fragment in my gum that was leftover from a difficult extraction and told me that it had to be removed surgically. I later went to a different dentist who said the same thing another dentist had said previously - that it was fine to leave the fragment there, no surgery needed. That means two dentists have now confirmed that a procedure Alameda Landing said was necessary actually wasn't needed at all. 4. The dentist told me I had a cracked tooth that needed a crown, and they wanted me to get the procedure done that same visit. I declined because at this point I didn't trust them. Then when I went to a new dentist a few weeks later it turns out my mistrust was smart - the new dentist didnt say there was any need for any such procedure, apparently the cracked tooth and supposed necessary crown weren't an issue. 5. The dentist also recommended a deep clean for gum hygiene. So I just made an appointment for another day and then cancelled it because again by now I could sense this was not honest and I didn't trust them. And so sure enough when I went to the new dentist he said no deep clean was needed. Alameda Landing also told me my gum recession required a graft surgery; my new dentist said no surgery was needed... So here I had 4 procedures Alameda Landing was trying to get me to agree to that I later found out from a different dentist (and one previously) were not needed. Plus the Alameda Landing office was crowded and I didn't feel any confidence about their covid 19 precautions. Everyone at Alameda Landing seemed stressed and unfriendly. The dentist was impatient and judgmental, did nothing to put me at ease, had a terrible bedside manner and was just unpleasant to interact with. I am permanently switching dentists now since my new dentist was night and day better than Alameda Landing and wasn't pushing unnecessary procedures or making me wince in pain. I hope someone at Alameda Landing takes this review as a wakeup call - to clean up their covid precautions, be honest about needed care, be friendly, and do a better job helping patients be pain free. Otherwise I just don't think they should be in the dentist business and instead I have to advise people to stay away from Alameda Landing Dentistry.

I have a retainer and mouth guard that they recommended I bring in for cleaning. When I did, they misplaced the bottom part of my retainer and I didn't notice until I got home, so they refused to replace it. I wouldn't trust them with any dental devices.

I am very pleased with the services and professional staff of this dentist office. Denzel, Ned, Dr. Khatawai and other staff have all been courteous and have thoroughly explained procedures and recommendations for my several past appointments. Their equipment is very current and cameras and photos showed procedures of before and after. It's been reassuring to have a trust worthy team after the pandemic.

My insurance changed recently and the dentist I was seeing did not accept my new insurance. I chose to come to Alameda Landing Dentistry mainly because I reside in Alameda and wanted something local, and because they accept my insurance. As an added benefit, parking there is both free and easy. At my first appointment I was given x-rays and then given an overall treatment plan. Based on my past dental experiences, I felt my treatment plan was both competent and ethical. I determined that what they recommended was needed, and that nothing was recommended that I did not need. So I accepted the dental treatment plan I was offered at Alameda Dentistry. Since then I have had my partial dental device fixed, along with root planing as preventive care for my gum disease. I am especially happy with the dentist I saw for my root planing, Dr. Khatwani. She made every effort to make me comfortable, including using a topical anesthetic on my gums before giving me pain killer needle shots. I hardly felt the shots at all. In addition, Dr. Khatwani gave me a very thorough root planing cleaning that lasted about an hour. I have seen many dentists over the years and have learned to differentiate between those who "go through the motions" and those who do a highly professional and complete job. Dr. Khatwani ranks with the best dentists I've experienced. (I'm a senior citizen and have seen at least 10 dentists over the years). She also listened to me, and on a few occasions when I felt uncomfortable she graciously made adjustments that helped. I also have found the dental receptionists at Alameda Landing Dentistry polite and friendly. The overall feeling of this operation is pleasant and professional. Having said that, this place is not perfect. I've had my appointments rescheduled twice because of changes involving their staff, and the process of getting my partial fixed adequately has taken longer than I would have liked. Nevertheless, they have continued to work on the partial until it can do its job correctly, at no additional expense to me. Overall, I'm grateful to have found this facility. Since they accept my insurance, it is affordable to me. Even better, I am getting quality and considerate dental care. Again, I especially recommend Dr. Khatwani as a highly competent and professional dentist.
