Lori has been a dental assistant since 1978, and has been a member of the Alafaya Family Dentistry team since 1990. She was born in Reno, Nevada and grew up in northern California. In her spare time she works as a Jazzercise instructor.

Nelly is originally from Prague, Czech Republic, where she studied at a College of Dental Technology to become a dental technician, and later added dental assisting to her repertoire. She married her husband in Canada, and their kids were born in Kingston, Ontario. Since her graduation, Nelly took many continuing education courses in Canada and the United States from well known dentists such as Peter Dawson. Nelly and her husband moved to Oviedo 6 years ago and they all absolutely love it! Her daughter Alex and son Lucas are both attending Hagerty High School. Nelly is one of our newest team members. She has been a patient of Alafaya Family Dentistry for the last 6 years because she believes that the highest quality of dentistry and patient care is provided here. She loves spending time with her family and cheering her kids on in multiple sports. Her other hobbies are travel, home improvements, and driving her kids crazy!

Debbie has been a hygienist at Alafaya Family Dentistry for over 20 years. She enjoys getting to know her patients and teaching them how to keep their mouths healthy. She has been happily married to her husband David for over 30 years. They have two grown children, a daughter and son. Their daughter Jillian, and son in law Ryan, live in Chuluota with their two daughters -Ava and Mia. They are Debbies pride and joy! Their son Jamison lives in Sanford. He and his long time girlfriend Jamie have two fur babiesCali and Ophelia. They too are Debbies pride and joy! In Debbies spare time she enjoys biking, yoga, crafting and cooking.

Jessica grew up in the Oviedo Community and attended Oviedo High School. She has a biology degree from University of Central Florida and received her dental hygiene degree from Sanford Brown College in Jacksonville in 2016. She has her anesthesia license from The University of Florida and has taken numerous courses on patient care and communication. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her dog Baxter (the office therapy dog), running, and spending time with her family.

Laurie has been in dentistry for over 30 years. She moved to Florida from New York and has resided in Central Florida for the last 30 years. She has been part of the Alafaya Family Dentistry Team since 2010. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies include music and classic car shows. She owns a 1966 convertible Chevelle and a 1991 Firebird, and enjoys taking her cars to car shows on the weekends.

Doreen has been in dentistry since 1989 with past experience in assisting, front desk duties, and office management. Born and raised in Connecticut, she moved to Oviedo, Florida in 1993 with her husband and two children. Her children are now grown and married and have given her four grandchildren. Doreen loves to spend time with her family, garden, read novels, and travel. Time with my family is the most important thing to me. We call it family bonding!

Brinnae grew up in Oviedo and attended Oviedo High School. She then moved to Tallahassee to go to Florida State University (Go Noles!) where she earned an undergraduate in Business Management with a Minor is Hospitality. She then went on to achieve her MBA in Health Service Administration. She moved with her husband back to the Orlando area to be closer to family and raise her two beautiful children. She loves spending time with family, boating on the lake, theme parks and football.

Waben has been a dental hygienist since 2018 and has been a member at Alafaya Family Dentistry team since January 2020. She enjoys educating patients on how to keep their mouths healthy. She comes from a large family and enjoys spending her free time with them.

Yariely, or Jotti as shes known in the office, is one of the newest members to join our Alafaya Family Dentistry team in 2018. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she attended Pennsylvania State University (Go Nittany Lions!) earning her bachelors degree in Administration of Justice. She has a daughter named Aiyana, and in 2013 they moved to Sanford, FL. Yariely loves to spend her time with family, dancing, and creating DIY decorations.

Dr. Ross graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1985. After dental school he completed a general practice residency at the University of Kentucky where he concentrated on more complicated dental reconstructions, oral surgery and anesthesiology. He went to the University of South Florida for his pre-dental education and enjoyed the Florida sunshine so much that after dental school he came back to the state.

Dr. Ross has taken numerous hours of postgraduate education in occlusion, implants and cosmetic dentistry at the Pankey Institute, the Center for Advanced Dental Study in St. Petersburg, FL, the Spears Education Center in Scottsdale, AZ. He has also completed the Pikos Centers Implant Surgical Continuum, as well as a 2-year long Masters Series Implant Class in Miami, FL. Additionally, he recently received his Mastership from the American Dental Implant Association. Recently, he has completed study in Bioesthetic Dentistry.

He is a fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantology(ICOI), a member of the American College of Oral Implantology, and a member of The Academy of Bioesthetic Dentistry. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Central District Dental Associationand the Greater Orlando Dental Society. He is married to Karen (Dr. Schmitt) and they have four children and one granddaughter. They have been practicing in Oviedo since 1988. In his spare time he enjoys walking his dogs, hiking in the mountains, and exercising.

Dr. Schmitt graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1985. She received her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree at the University of Kentucky and practiced as a dental hygienist for five years prior to dental school. After dental school she completed a general practice residency at the University of Kentucky where she concentrated on more complicated dental reconstructions, oral surgery and anesthesiology. She moved to Orlando in 1986 where she worked as an associate in the area until opening up her practice in Oviedo in 1988.

Dr. Schmitt has taken numerous hours of postgraduate education in occlusion and cosmetic dentistry at the Pankey Institute and the Center for Advanced Dental Study in St. Petersburg, FL, as well as numerous courses at the Spear Education Center in Scottsdale, AZ. She has also completed comprehensive surgical dental implant courses through Implant Seminars. She has recently completed three years of bioesthetic dentistry study, and is a member of The Academy of Bioesthetic Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Central District Dental Associationand the Greater Orlando Dental Society. She is married to David (Dr. Ross) and they have four children and one granddaughter. She is active in the community and her church and enjoys running.
