  • Dr. Lauren Tabis D.M.D. I grew up in western Pennsylvania in a town with a great community, which is why I love Alachua and Gainesville so much. In the attempt to become a patient at this office; the phone rep was audibly disappointed when I mentioned lack of dental insurance. Thinking it was my imagination, I called a week later only to feel rushed off the phone when the phone attendant "Summer" learned that I didn't have insurance. Needless to say I'll find another dental office.

The dentists and dental hygienists are great. My issue is with the billing department/front office. I had to try to figure out my account, what my bill balance was, etc. on several different occasions, including contacting both the dental office manager and my own insurance company as the billing side has been a NIGHTMARE. Firstly...when I requested the bill and all of the insurance payments/copays, etc. the print out was muddled and confusing. Trying to match services to dates of insurance payments, copays, etc. was confusing as I had to go to multiple pages back and forth to figure things out. I had to tell the billing person to submit the billing again for several visits for both myself and my husband as there was no follow up and they simply said that the insurance didn't pay. After contacting the insurance company the issue with quite a few of the submissions being denied was office error...no codes or incorrect codes, yet I had to tell the office that and ask them to resubmit. I have spent hours trying to get my billing balance figured out/corrected/updated. I was given one amount by the office manager, which was different than what I came up with from the information from the insurance company. I paid what I was told to pay...quiet adamantly by the office manager I might add, because that was the balance that she had, regardless of the discrepancy I found. I was then informed several days later by the office manager again via an email that I owed more money after she "looked at my account again". I am MORE than over this whole thing. I should not have had to invest so much of my time and energy into something that someone at that office gets paid to do and keep track of. I should not have to go back and forth as many times as I have had to providing information that they already had, or should have had/seen/known. And sadly...here I am months and months later...STILL with a billing discrepancy. This office recently decided to stop taking our secondary dental insurance. We are leaving. However, to be very clear...WE WERE LEAVING regardless. The reason? I can not deal with the the continual incorrect billing and billing issues. I have had dental insurance/supplemental dental insurance most of my adult life (over 20 years) and I have NEVER had any issues with insurance billing/accounting issues until I went to Alachua Family Dentistry. As for me and mine...we are OUT! I am more than aggravated and it is seriously ridiculous at this point.

My family of six have been seeing Alachua Family Dentistry for a few years now. Since day one I have been impressed with the sweet and friendly, yet professional staff. As well as, the cleanliness of the office, their flexibility, the atmosphere, and of course the dentists. Today, however, they proved to me that their patients are very important to them. I had a filling break while flossing so it was painful. I called the office, was told no available appointments because there was only one dentist at the alachua office, they could see me the very next morning. I was disappointed but I understand one person can only do so much! THEN...I get a call from the office asking if I can be there at 11 today, of course yes yes yes. Dr. Cody drove from one location to the Alachua location JUST to fix my tooth!!!! I am beyond amazed with this dentist!!! Btw they are also terrific with my children, they love the staff and remind me to make them their dentist appointments. I highly recommend them!!!!

I have been in numerous Dental Practices over the past years, many I would never go back again. Alachua Family Dentistry is the most comfortable dentist office I have ever been in.. The office staff are friendly and very efficient. The dental assistants go beyond your expectations. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Mitchell. I have found the best place for my wife and I. I would rate this practice at a 10 if I could. I highly recommend Alachua Dental Services. Joe and Rita Dolby

I can sing their praises enough. As someone who had traumatic experiences as a child with lackluster dental care it's refreshing to go to an office where literally every single person there is incredibly nice. The staff go above and beyond and it shows in their service and on their clients faces.

I went in, apprehensive at first - I had a GREAT dentist but that dentist is now 900 miles away, so i needed to find a new one. Dr Mitchell was everything I liked about my old dentist, plus more. Dee, the hygienist, was even better than the one I left 900 miles away. She amazed me, my teeth felt fantastic! The dental assistant was impressive as well, helped with my nervousness by telling me what was going to happen and what I should expect. Even the checkout was above and beyond when she let me get a prize from the treasure chest like I did when I was a little girl:) this place has me ALL SMILES!!!!
