Great people & so friendly. This isn't the first time I have used Dr. Rothman. Both of my boys had their wisdom teeth taken out by him many years ago. Today was the second time I have used him, second wisdom tooth taken out today. I have high anxiety when I go to the dentist but they make you feel so comfortable and relaxed. I was in and out of there in no time. Dr. Rothman called to check on me as well. I highly recommend Alabama Oral & Facial Surgery
Got to make a shoutout this place. My severe anxiety prevents me from coming to get a lot of dental work. Tooth was pulled today with twilight and the staff was just very caring to work with my anxiety. So relieved its over and it got through quickly. Dr. Christopher M. Rothman is originally from Boston, MA. He graduated from Farragut High School in Knoxville, TN and attended the University of Alabama where he received his Bachelor of Science. Dr. Rothman obtained his doctorate at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, where he had the privilege of serving on the Curriculum Committee. He graduated with High Honors and received numerous awards.
Dr. Rothman performed his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospital at the University of Cincinnati. His training included anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, facial trauma, reconstructive surgery, cleft lip & palate surgery, pathology, advanced trauma life support, cardiology, plastic surgery and trauma surgery. He served as National Chairman of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Residents Organization.
Dr. Rothman has multiple board certifications. He isBoard Certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeryand has beenBoard Certified by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Alabama Dental Association, Birmingham Dental Association, and the Alabama Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Rothman, is the co-founder of the Institute of Medical Emergency Preparedness. He has lectured and written extensively on the subject of medical emergency preparedness and training.Dentistry Todayhas recognized him as one of the Leaders in Continuing Education since 2009. Dr. Rothman co-developed the curriculum for Advanced Life Support for Dentistry (ALSD) and the Emergency Response System, which has been endorsed by both national and state organizations. The emergency training program he co-developed has been implemented in dental school curriculum throughout the United States.
Dr. McKay attended the University of Mississippi where he obtained a degree in Mathematics. He then attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis, where he served as a national officer for the American Student Dental Association and graduated with high honors.
Dr. McKays residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery followed at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. His time there was spent extensively studying contemporary techniques in general anesthesia, critical care, trauma, reconstructive surgery, cosmetic surgery, dental implants, and dental alveolar surgery including wisdom teeth removal and bone grafting.
Dr. McKay has over 17 years of experience practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is an active member of theAmerican Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, theAmerican Dental Association, theAlabama Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the BirminghamDistrict Dental Society.
Dr. McKay has spent several summers as a missionary in Central America during his college years, and has continued to play an active role in missions by accompanying several groups from Briarwood Christian High School to Managua, Nicaragua.
Dr. Walter H. Wilson was born in Birmingham, AL and attended Oak Mountain High School where he played varsity baseball and graduated with valedictorian honors. He then attended the University of Alabama where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society.
Dr. Wilson obtained a Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was named to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors Society. He also obtained his Medical Doctorate from the University of Alabama and subsequently completed an general surgery internship and his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His training included intensive studies in anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, dental implantology, facial trauma and reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, cleft lip and palate repair, pathology, and temporomandibular joint disorders.
Dr. Wilson and his wife Anna, who is a Nurse Practitioner in the area, met at Oak Mountain High School and are committed to providing care to the communities of central Alabama. Anna and Walter have three young children, Jackson, Eleanor, and Madelyn.

Absolutely wonderful!!! Dentist and oral surgeons are my worse phobia, but Dr. McKay and his staff made my experience awesome!!! He did 2 implants about five years ago and the experience was just as incredible then as was this one. Anything to do with my mouth causes me a great deal of anxiety. But he pulled my tooth, cleaned out infection and put in bone graph, and we were home within an hour and I felt NO pain!!! He is the most kind compassionate person you could ever ask for (staff included)!!!

This was my first experience having any kind of tooth extraction or dental work done that required shots and gas. I was an absolute nervous wreck but the staff was so caring and took such good care of me! The tooth extraction was quick and easy and overall almost completely painless! From now on if I require any dental procedures I will be using Alabama Oral & Facial Surgery!

Despite being a healthcare provider myself, I did not see that impacted wisdom tooth (teeth) coming. I was in tremendous pain over the weekend, called Monday AM and got a procedure date Tuesday AM. Fantastic staff, great surgeons and very high quality care. Clean facility with very streamlined intake and preparation. I was never put under before so they took the time to reassure me and answer my questions. Payments were disclosed clearly upfront so no surprise bills. Postop care details explained to wife and she was reassured as well. All in all, exceeded my expectation. Currently in recovery phase but feeling significantly better than 48 hours ago already. Can not thank Alabama OFS enough.

Im about 12 Hours post op for the 2nd phase of my implant procedure. I feel Amazing. DR CHRISTOPHER ROTHMAN even called me personally this evening to check on me. He is thoughtful, candid and straight to the point in specific detail which I appreciated. I'm humbled and super grateful. I started my Implant Care Provider Search with every concern about pain tolerance, implant positioning in the right spot, cost, impact of time needed to heal between phases and ended up with an amazingly simple, streamlined, well coordinated, cost comfortable, minimal pain discomfort process. They are well credentialed Implant masters in their industry. They have it all figured out! I trusted them with my brilliant smile and they squeezed me in under urgent need circumstances. I feel they pretty much saved my life. The pain just quickly escaleted and no pain med gave relief. My face was swollen where eyes almost swollen closed. I could not eat, stand light or sound, and I was in insane pain as no one anywhere seemed to have an appointment opening. Dont let it come to that point folks if at all avoidable. First time experience and I was treated like family. I pray this helps others to overcome dental anxiety and fight for their best smile and comfort. Its a little long butI had to share my experience to help others. Thanks for your time

Dr. McVay and his staff are the very best!! I am thankful they made me feel comfortable from start to finish! I had a fractured back tooth extraction and bone graft with sedation.
