Dr. David began his career in 1987 with his associateship in a Galesburg practice. His first owned & operated clinic was in Kalamazoo, but shortly after purchasing Battle Creek Family Dentistry in 1990, Dr. David sold Kalamazoo to focus 100% on serving patients right here in our neighborhood.

After 31 years practicing dentistry, Dr. Davids career took a new trajectory when he became Battle Creek Family Dentistrys CEO. Guiding the team, his focus allows us all to benefit greatly from his experienced leadership and management skills. Along with this is the exciting vision of our practice future. Dr. David continues to keep his dental memberships active, including the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association.

Dr. David married Diane in 1987, right out of University of Detroit Dental School, and they have 2 daughters, Jennifer and Lauren. In his spare time, Dr. David enjoys family time, playing golf, brewing his own beer, cooking up a good meal, and performing (acting & singing) in productions at the Franke Center for the Arts in Marshall.

Dr. Richard Caringella received his degree from Chicagos Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1985 and has been practicing for more than 35 years. He is a member of multiple dental organizations and keeps updated with current dental technology.

With a focus on treating every patient with a gentle touch and a friendly and compassionate chairside manner, Dr. Caringella is dedicated to providing high-quality dentistry that enables his patients to smile with ease again. Following in the footsteps of his father who was also a dentist, Dr. Caringella prioritizes the wants and needs of each of his patients, aiming to make every step of their dental experience a comfortable one.

Having grown up in the Chicago suburbs and lived in the city for most of his adult life, Dr. Caringella makes a habit of taking time to enjoy the slower pace and community feel that Battle Creek offers.

Originally from Orange County, California, Dr. Welch first studied at Bowling Green University in Ohio, where he earned a bachelors degree in biology and pre-medical sciences and a Masters in advanced organic chemistry. After graduating, he married his wife, Natalie, and they embarked on two years of overseas service in Tanzania with the Peace Corps. Afterward, Dr. Welch earned his doctorate at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

I am always a reluctant dental patient, but the staff, hygienist and dentist at Battle Creek Dentistry were thorough, kind, patient, and gentle. I appreciate their care.

When my former dentist retired, I was hesitant to search for someone new due to a deep-seated fear of dentistry. B.C. Family Dentistry was recommended to me by one of my young (adult} grandchildren so I got out of my comfort zone and made the call. After a year of visits, I can say my fears were unfounded in this regard and I find that going to get my teeth cleaned and repaired has been a good experience. Thanks to the dentists and staff, my visits are more comfortable than I could have hoped for and I so appreciate all the gentle care given to me by everyone in the office!

I filed complaints with the BBB, Consumer Protection Agency, Dept. of Consumer Affairs and Licensing and the Michigan Board of Dentistry. I have 2 major complaints about this practice. (1) Your office performed a procedure on my child that was not covered under their dental insurance. Was not approved by me or confirmed as a covered procedure by insurance which resulted in a out of pocket charge against me. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE PROCEDURE. I was not even consulted on the matter or given the opportunity to decline. (2) I had an appt. scheduled for today 10/26/2022 that was made at the time of our last visit. I got my children out of school, drove 40mi. and was told that all appointments were canceled until the outstanding balance was paid. I would have thought that that I would have been informed of that. I find this practice to be incompetent and lacking in professionalism and would not recommend this practice to my worst enemy. I hope you crash and burn.

Terrible place of business. Dr was great removed the impacted and severely infected tooth un less then 2 minutes, very little pain even though it was infected. Office staff are a joke, they submitted my I surance claim with the wrong tax ID so naturally insurance refused to pay, they refused to fix it. Called them to get it fixed, they refused, just repeated I owe them because insurance refused to pay, no, no I dont.. you need tonfixnyor tax id the only reason to not is to defraud insurance, the people and to tax evade. My dental insurance pays almost everything with very little out of pocket. Lady laughed at me as they hate those who know the law and debt collection, as I'm a debt collector. Don't do business with this company. Only went because my dentist didn't have an opening(I only pay him 35 oop for an extraction, this place charged me 129) my copay in 20% for extractions, they charged me almost 40.

The staff was really caring. My crown fell off on Sunday and they were able to fit me in on Tuesday morning.

Thank you so much Julie for scheduling me in on the same day I called when my temporary crown came off. I was in a great deal of pain and the hygienist was so gentle and explained everything to me so I understood that what I was feeling was normal. She was able to re-seat the crown quickly and my pain was gone immediately. I'm so sorry I didn't get her name, otherwise I'd give her a huge thank you as well.

Really liked the young lady who cleaned my teeth, sorry I am bad with names. She explained everything going on, she was very gentle while doing the cleaning. I asked questions and she answered them. She helped me with a billing problem as well. The billing department looked into it and took care of the problem right away. The staff were all very nice.

Worst dentist office ever. I had 2 crowns put on and within 7 months both had to be replaced. They replaced one "free of charge". They charged my insurance and I had to submit a case to get them to reverse the charges. The second one they claim the hole didn't go all the way through (yet) so they weren't paying to replace it. Crowns are supposed to last YEARS not months.

Finally got back to the Dentist, it's not a good idea to wait so long, but Battle Creek Family Dentistry set me up with an appointment in less than a week and were very nice and professional; explained my issues to me and now I'm looking forward to getting my teeth fixed up. To the friendly staff at BCDF thank you so much.

Had a very good experience with the hygienist. She gave me a lot of tips on brushing and things to do to kill bacterial in your mouth. Wasn't pleased with the last visit with the dentist but the hygienist are very pleasant.
