Dr. Virgil J. Barbu was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan. He completed his undergrad at Wayne State University. After receiving a degree in Biology, he worked in the dental field as an assistant while he attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. After he graduated, he started practicing in his home area. Dr. Barbu has always been inclined to help people both in and outside of the office, he is always volunteering at his church organizations and functions, such as food drives, cooking and serving the underprivileged food, charity dinners for children in need, etc. For fun Dr. Barbu likes to see movies, plays, discover new restaurants and little hot spots in the city and surrounding areas, have dinners with his friends and spend time with his mother, niece, sister, and brother in law.

Crystal or Cristal, Gave me the best cleaning I've ever had. Most dentist stab your gums in attempt to clean. Crystal/Cristal cleaned my teeth without making my gums bleed. Highly recommended Crystal/Cristol at Affordable Dental Care ! 10/10 , 5 Stars

NEW PRACTICE, NEW DOCTOR, AWFUL SERVICE! RUDE STAFF IN Front And BACK OFFICE. Left WAITING FOR 2 HOURS. ONLY TO REALIZE THEY ARE KEEPING ME FOR A 2K PAYMENT THAT I'VE ALREADY PAID! THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF THAT PAYMENT. WE ARE NEW THEY SAY... NO PAYMENT RECORDED. THERE IS A HUGE PROBLEM!

I was called to confirm an appointment. I told the receptionist that if I was unable to make the appointment I would call and cancel. I received a call the very next day that I missed because I was working. They left me a text message saying that they were canceling my appointment for my daughter and myself. Nothing about confirming our appointments. Just that it was being canceled. I called and they already gave my appointments away. No resolve except we can get you in a month later. So very disappointed and irritated. The customer service was extremely disappointing. Otherwise the dentist and assistant are great.

I've been to this place twice now. Whenever I call I can never get anyone on the phone. Been waiting months for a referral for my wisdom teeth to be removed and haven't received a call back. I now need a root canal which I can't afford there, and can't seem to get a referral for that either. Literally called 15 times today. I also keep seeing everyone else talk about how they suggest a "deep clean", they suggested that to me on my first visit as well. It's $800 and not covered by insurance. If they tell you you need a deep clean, they can't give you a regular cleaning because then your insurance won't cover it. This place is a scam. If you are poor and need help, don't go here. Edit: had cavities filled there before switching to a new dentist. Found out they put a filling in over a cavity still and my current dentist had to fix that. I don't know if that's a common thing but I've never had that happen with the other 3 cavities I've had before this.

Editing comment: One year later, 5,000 dollars later my cap on my tooth is loose and tried to call to make an emergency appointment to get it recemented and they can't get me in till Nov almost 2 months away or I can call every day and pray they have an opening from a canceled appointment that will fit my schedule.. So now I have to hope my tooth under dont get damaged while trying to figure out something to do. When they are making money off you, you are important but to fix something it is impossible to get in. Dr Barbu is great. The staff are very friendly. Everything about this place definitely makes you feel better about coming to a dentist. I was so scared of dentist before coming here due to past experiences but now I'm looking forward to coming back for my next appointment.

Dr. Johnson and his assistant Rand were phenomenal they were able to handle my problem with no hesitation. Thank you! I went in for pain in my tooth, new I had a cavity but was originally told by a dr that no longer works there that I did not have one and I was just coming here for a second opinion. Well I did indeed have one and like I said dr Johnson made sure the problem was fixed! The front receptionist Nadia was also really nice and helpful. Thank you guys again.

Experienced a crack in my tooth along with tooth pain! No dentist office would take me last minute. I contacted this office and the staff were empathetic and got me right in. I also experience anxiety and I'm not a fan of the dentist. The doctor and assistants were patient with me, soft spoken, and explained what they were doing. This was my first time and even hearing them handle other patients got me wanting to make them my primary dental office! Looking forward to being your patient! Thank you so much!

Dr Johnson is literally the best I just had my wisdom teeth removed and he talked to me the entire time he pulled my tooth to relax me.. Highly recommended he's awesome their whole staff is awesome very friendly

Update: I had Another Appointment which they scheduled it months in advance. 1 day Prior to my return appt in less than 24 hrs notice I received about three text messages and a email stating my appointment has been canceled and they will reach out to me when they are accepting appointments again. I called the office and pre usual it was hard getting through, I tried for three/four days. Then finally someone answered stating they will call back once they can start scheduling appointments again. I assumed it has something to do with the insurance company. Whatever that may be I'm sure that prior to sending me multiple text messages and emails less than 24 hrs of my appointment being canceled they knew of their situation/s and should have taken immediate action contacting their patients. As I stated I had the appointment schedule with them for about Five Months and this was not the professional way to inform me.

I cannot tell you how many times I have had really bad experiences at the dentist. I saw Dr. Johnson today and let me tell you something, he is the nicest gentle dentist I have ever had. He explains what he is doing and he makes sure you are numbed up and ready for him to start. No rushing at all. The ladies I saw today in the back and at the desk were very knowledgeable and kind and knew what my insurance covers etc.. I have been suffering with tooth pain for about a year for no reason other than my fears that the other dentists left me with. I truly hit the jack pot finding this Dentist and all the ladies that work there.I am telling everyone I know about Dr.Johnson

By far the WORST experience ever. I've tried for two years straight to be patient and just hope things will change or get better. THEY NEVER DO. I can guarantee you'll never be seen on time, appointments are always triple booked, I literally told myself last time I was here (two weeks ago) would be the last time. But being a creature of habit here I am again today, with the SAME PROBLEM. Mark my words, I will NEVER return, POSTING FROM THE LOBBY. Only saving Grace is, again, the hygienist.

I would give zero if I could I called about a month I needed some dental work done I asked the lady on the phone of I could do same day procedures she says yes she scheduled me for a date and time and said they way I can have the work done I go get examined and they told me the prices I said ok I have the money for one of the procedures now she goes and comes back and say we can't do it today.... interesting I know welp almost in tears from frustration I leave I call back and asked when they could schedule me for the procedure she gave me a new date today Tuesday 07/26/2022 at around 9:00a.m I get a phone call saying was I aware of the copay I said yes and stated the amount she said yes and she says hold on puts me on hold comes back and now states it's almost double that amount I will not recommend anyone to go there I was referred by a coworker and my experience has been terrible both times
