For many, dry mouth is just annoying, and not a serious problem. But for some it can lead to other serious conditions. Saliva keeps the tissues in our mouths well lubricated, keeps out teeth clean, and helps digest food. Inadequate saliva can be uncomfortable, lead to problems eating and speaking, and contribute to tooth decay.

While aging itself is responsible for some dry mouth, most cases are due to the side effects of medications. There are literally hundreds of medications that list it as a side effect. Dr. Noel at AffableCare Dental can help determine the particular causes of your dry mouth, and help rule out rarer but more serious conditions.

If a medication is the cause, your physician may be able to prescribe an alternate medication. Many common sense approaches will also help, including taking frequent sips of water and stimulating saliva with sugar free gum or candy. Reducing your intake of caffeine, carbonated beverages and alcohol may also help.

Consult Dr. Noel to rule out some serious conditions that reduce the flow of saliva. Once he has ruled out other causes, Dr. Noel will recommend some simple remedies. There are also some oral rinses and artificial saliva products available. Dr. Noel will recommend that you be especially vigilant about oral hygiene, since inadequate saliva can increase your chance of tooth decay.

Dr. Rubins Noel graduated from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in 1992 and completed a general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University from 1992 to 1993.

Dr. Rubins Noel is happily married to his wife of 27 years, Edeline Noel. They have four children, Faye-Lyne, Benjamin, Tahelah and Samuel. Dr. Noel enjoys reading classical literature and listening to classical music and jazz. He loves watching sports-soccer, football, basketball, and baseball. He also enjoys playing the alto saxophone.

AffableCare Dental is always looking for ways to make your experience more comfortable and more convenient. Laser dentistry can do both of these, making it one of the most exciting new advances in dentistry. Ask our dental staff at AffableCare Dental how lasers can help you get a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile.

Traditional dentistry uses metal instruments and rotary tools on teeth and gums. Dental lasers use special, highly focused beams of light to perform procedures on teeth and gums, sometimes accompanied by water or air suction to keep the area clean and cool. Dr. Noel has been specifically trained to use these lasers to perform dental procedures, often making the experience more comfortable for the patient, with fewer visits and less recovery time.

The dentist I worked with Dr. Rubins was incredibly rude I wanted to punch him in the face and that foreign black lady receptionist needed to get rob van dammed off the desk rudest lady ever over the phone and in person, she runs her mouth to her co workers right in front of you. It only takes one or two people to ruin it for everyone else and they did just that.

I have a tooth that is clearly infected. Ever since they took others out, that one's gotten worse. I now believe it is causing me to get sick. They didnt look at the tooth. And recently I got sick and my food, which was perfectly cooked, tasted weird. My boyfriend felt okay. My tooth bleeds every time i brush and it hurts on that one. The other side alsi has a tooth thats starting to bleed and hurt. Basically they dont care that it can be spreading and making me ill. (And now its worse. All my food taste like a cavity infested mouth. If i try to eat a normal amount of food and thats all i taste i get a sick feeling. I literally got to under eat or eat snack like foods to even get something in my belly. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!)

If I could give zero stars I would. The only reason I switched my original dentist is because I moved further from him. Went here and told me I needed a root canal but it wasn't covered under ins. (Mind you I had no pain)When I said I can't pay out of pocket and refused to take a loan out they were so rude. Then they told me I had 10 cavaties. I had just seen my old dentist for a cleaning 6mnths prior with no cavaties. They would not give me my xrays because they were lieing. I went back to my old dentist immediately. He informed me that I do not need a root canal and there is only 1 cavity. I will take the 40min drive to a honest dentist. Money grab is what this place is and if you refuse they will jump on you.

Prior to Dr Noel, I had multiple root canals, old fillings, and 2 missing molars. A severe infection had dissolved some of my jawbone around the tooth socket, and left an irregularly shaped gum line where bone jutted out to the side (under the gums). I had difficulty chewing, so implants were scheduled. A bone graft was needed to fill in the shallow jawline before implants could be placed. I was SHOCKED to find I had no pain afterward! Dr Noel has laser technology that reduces the trauma, but my gums weren't even swollen where sutures were. Unbelievable!

My daughter (age 20)was seen a month or so ago, they told her a old root canal didn't take on a front tooth of hers and they needed to take the tooth out, do bone graft, give a flipper tooth for a couple months until she could get the implant. None of this seemed out of the ordinary to her or me, since she had major mouth trauma when she was 14. Moving forward, they say they have to remove the tooth to see if insurance would cover the rest, and the girl adalyn tells her it should be covered because she's under 21. (Insurance pays for removal, cash for graft and flipper tooth) Low and behold implant gets denied by insurance. She calls to question it, I call dentist question it, adalyn is nothing but rude to both of us, tells us both that she has never seen an implant coverd (so she lied) and tells us we can appeal with insurance and tells me my daughter should of asked more questions (I agree, but maybe the actual adult medical professionals should have some morals and ethics and not lie to a child). So my daughter calls her insurance to find out why it was denied (as this is restorative not cosmetic) and file an appeal, she is informed that the removal was submitted, but the graft and flipper was never submitted to insurance and that's probably why implant got denied. Insurance isn't seeing it as a necessary procedure, so neeedless to say we will not be back there. They are clearly running something very shady there, whether it's insurance scams or not, I won't trust them with my dogs teeth, much less anything else. I don't know how the dentist himself is, because he won't call me back to talk about this, but the girls at the desk are the rudest most incompetent office people I have ever dealt with. Save yourself the trouble and go else where

Horrible. I went there complaining about a tooth ache that might be a cavity. I had to wait 40 minutes after my appointment time. They let people go in before me that literally arrived 30 minutes after I did. They seemed rude and annoyed that they had to see me again about a tooth I complained about before. The doctor didn't even put a mirror near my tooth to check the back or other side of it. He simply said it was fine. If my tooth is bleeding when I brush the back of it, its clearly not fine. Either I have a cavity or its gingivitis. Which both are not fine. They also can't keep God separate from their work place. They kept telling me about certain piercings i have that "God didn't give you piercings in your body. If he wanted you to have holes in your body he'd put them there." Now I am not at all against believing in a higher power. I would love to believe my family and friends I lost are in a better place.Whether youre religious or not, unless your a priest, don't talk about God at your job. They have separation of church and state for a reason. Because you can offend people who don't follow your religion by trying to talk all about it. DO NOT GO HERE. THEH DONT CARE IF YOU ARE IN PAIN. JUST WHAT GETS THEM MONEY.

I used to be nervous to go to the dentist and since going to Affable Care, that nervousness has left. I previously had fillings done incorrectly that created further issues and needed to be corrected. Dr. Noel treated me and corrected the issues my past dentist created. I have not had any cavities or procedures needed since switching to Dr. Noel.
