Orthodontic Braces are a great solution to fixing the alignment of the jaw, adjusting the spacing of the teeth, and increasing your kids or teens confidence and self-esteem. The benefits of braces treatments have many positive side-effects for overall dental health as well, including:
Finding the right braces is the first step of the journey for creating a perfect smile. There are several types of braces commonly used today such as traditional metal braces, ceramic or porcelain braces, and removable aligners. Well help you find the best type for your child and teen based on your treatment plan, cost, and desired appearance.
No insurance, No problem: For adults and children without insurance coverage, we offer a number of affordable payment plans, our orthodontic coordinators can explain these options to determine a plan that works best for you.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their first orthodontic screening no later than age seven. By this age, it will be clear if a child has any jaw alignment problems, overcrowding, overbite or underbite, cross-bite, or additional orthodontic problems impacting a childs mouth. The earlier the orthodontic evaluation, the quicker we can determine if braces are required and what treatment plan is best.
Since Medicaid covers procedures that are medically necessary, orthodontic treatment is could be covered for children. If your child has an underbite, overbite, crossbite or severe crowding it might be time to consider braces for kids with Medicaid.
When a dentist that accepts Medicaid conducts an orthodontic evaluation on your child, they will determine a recommended treatment plan. As part of this, they assess whether Medicaid is likely to cover the orthodontic treatment or not. Medicaid knows that braces can be an important treatment to ensure lifelong oral health for kids. As a dentist that accepts Medicaid, we will manage the full Medicaid approval process which includes submitting the appropriate documents and patient records. Then, Medicaid examiners will look at what we submitted and determine if your childs recommended orthodontic treatment will be covered. Medicaid will notify you and our office if the treatment is approved or declined.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommend children receive their first orthodontic screening by the time they turn 7. At this age, major jaw and tooth alignment problems will be visible. As with any health intervention, the earlier a problem is identified, the easier it is to create a treatment plan and schedule. Some issues that are treated by braces include:
If your child needs orthodontic treatment, it will be an improvement that will last a lifetime. Braces fix more than crooked teeth to create a winning smile. In addition to straightening out your childs teeth, braces also correct bite and tooth alignment. This is important to:
There are other options for braces that are less noticeable than the metal brackets. Some of our older patients like that ceramic or porcelain braces blend in with their teeth. There are also clear braces, but these are more expensive than metal braces and can discolor if not cleaned regularly. Then, there are removable aligners such as Invisalign. These are transparent trays that can be removed during mealtimes. Removable aligners are popular with adults and older kids, but they arent appropriate to treat significant bite problems. We dont recommend removable aligners for most children because they require more responsibility to care for properly.
Sometimes, the orthodontist will recommend two phases of braces depending on the developmental stage of a childs teeth. The first phase might begin around age 7 to 10 years of age to correct issues with your childs primary teeth that could impact the arrival of permanent teeth. During this time, the jaw bones and palette are more pliable.
Around the age of 12, a second phase might be recommended. These braces straighten out the permanent teeth. The time your child will be in braces is dependent on their treatment plan and how well they follow the orthodontists instructions. It can range from 9 months to 30 months.
When your child has braces, it can be more difficult to brush and floss teeth properly, but its very important. Encourage your child with braces to rinse their mouths with water frequently. This helps wash away food particles and restore the pH levels in the mouth to neutral. Acidic foods can wear away tooth enamel.
When your child wears braces, we suggest they brush their teeth after every meal. Your child should pay special attention to their gum line and then focus on brushing above, below and on each bracket. Flossing daily is also critical especially when your child has braces.

The dentists there are so amazing with stressed and scared kids. My daughter had a spacer put in and was very upset. It was both painful and scary for her. The dentist came in and talked to her and got her to calm down. They are so amazing there.

The dentist seemed like she didn't know what she was doing, there is a gap in the teeth, she did the 2 front teeth and the left side. I will be taking him back to see if they can even out the teeth. I don't recommend. My son used to have a pretty smile. The metal fillings were done by the same dentist. Before and after pictures are on the bottom. They also damaged his teeth with the metal crowns. His teeth truly were straight at one point. Right side on the screen is the before and the left side on the screen is the after. You can clearly see that the gap wasn't there before. Not good work. I don't know what pride the company takes in besides taking people's $$$$ this is the worst dentist job I have ever experienced/witness.

Courtney and Dr. Breckglyn were incredible with fixing three of my young child's teeth. They were extremely professional, finished the job as the said they would, and were profoundly informative in the procedure and all potential options. They will be my preffered team for our next dental visits or procedures. Thank you both.
