Regular eye exams are an essential part of keeping both babies, kids and teens on track for educational, social, and developmental success. Children with vision issues often have trouble in school, with sports, interacting with other children and day-to-day functioning. A vision check-up is a great way to keep your child on track for success.

Farsightedness, also known as Hyperopia, is another common condition where you can see objects that are far away better than objects up close. When a child has farsightedness the light rays in their eyes will focus behind the retinas surface instead of directly on it, making close-up objects blurry...more

Astigmatism is a common vision condition in which your eye isnt completely round which can blur objects both near and far due to the eye not being able to focus. Orthodontic Braces are a great solution to fixing the alignment of the jaw, adjusting the spacing of the teeth, and increasing your kids or teens confidence and self-esteem. The benefits of braces treatments have many positive side-effects for overall dental health as well, including:

Finding the right braces is the first step of the journey for creating a perfect smile. There are several types of braces commonly used today such as traditional metal braces, ceramic or porcelain braces, and removable aligners. Well help you find the best type for your child and teen based on your treatment plan, cost, and desired appearance.

  • Traditional Metal Braces are the most common type of braces, especially for children. Metal braces are highly effective and the most affordable type of orthodontic braces. Metal braces allow the orthodontist to easily and accurately complete monthly visits crafting a perfect smile. Plus, kids and teens have an awesome selection of elastic band colors to mix and match to achieve a look they love!
  • Ceramic or porcelain braces function just like metal braces, however the brackets are less noticeable and the wires are colored to blend in with your child or teens teeth. Clear braces are more expensive than metal braces and can discolor if not regularly cleaned. If you are looking for a less noticeable appearance these are a great option.
  • Removable aligners have become a popular choice in recent years. They are transparent trays that rest on top of the teeth that can be removed during meal times and other activities. Removable aligners are not able to correct significant bite problems and are not usually recommended for children due to the added cost and level of personal responsibility required during treatment. If you are looking for a less noticeable option to correct alignment issues, this may be the right treatment option for you.
  • No insurance, No problem: For adults and children without insurance coverage, we offer a number of affordable payment plans, our orthodontic coordinators can explain these options to determine a plan that works best for you.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their first orthodontic screening no later than age seven. By this age, it will be clear if a child has any jaw alignment problems, overcrowding, overbite or underbite, cross-bite, or additional orthodontic problems impacting a childs mouth. The earlier the orthodontic evaluation, the quicker we can determine if braces are required and what treatment plan is best.

Since Medicaid covers procedures that are medically necessary, orthodontic treatment is could be covered for children. If your child has an underbite, overbite, crossbite or severe crowding it might be time to consider braces for kids with Medicaid.

When a dentist that accepts Medicaid conducts an orthodontic evaluation on your child, they will determine a recommended treatment plan. As part of this, they assess whether Medicaid is likely to cover the orthodontic treatment or not. Medicaid knows that braces can be an important treatment to ensure lifelong oral health for kids. As a dentist that accepts Medicaid, we will manage the full Medicaid approval process which includes submitting the appropriate documents and patient records. Then, Medicaid examiners will look at what we submitted and determine if your childs recommended orthodontic treatment will be covered. Medicaid will notify you and our office if the treatment is approved or declined.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommend children receive their first orthodontic screening by the time they turn 7. At this age, major jaw and tooth alignment problems will be visible. As with any health intervention, the earlier a problem is identified, the easier it is to create a treatment plan and schedule. Some issues that are treated by braces include:

If your child needs orthodontic treatment, it will be an improvement that will last a lifetime. Braces fix more than crooked teeth to create a winning smile. In addition to straightening out your childs teeth, braces also correct bite and tooth alignment. This is important to:

There are other options for braces that are less noticeable than the metal brackets. Some of our older patients like that ceramic or porcelain braces blend in with their teeth. There are also clear braces, but these are more expensive than metal braces and can discolor if not cleaned regularly. Then, there are removable aligners such as Invisalign. These are transparent trays that can be removed during mealtimes. Removable aligners are popular with adults and older kids, but they arent appropriate to treat significant bite problems. We dont recommend removable aligners for most children because they require more responsibility to care for properly.

Sometimes, the orthodontist will recommend two phases of braces depending on the developmental stage of a childs teeth. The first phase might begin around age 7 to 10 years of age to correct issues with your childs primary teeth that could impact the arrival of permanent teeth. During this time, the jaw bones and palette are more pliable.

Around the age of 12, a second phase might be recommended. These braces straighten out the permanent teeth. The time your child will be in braces is dependent on their treatment plan and how well they follow the orthodontists instructions. It can range from 9 months to 30 months.

When your child has braces, it can be more difficult to brush and floss teeth properly, but its very important. Encourage your child with braces to rinse their mouths with water frequently. This helps wash away food particles and restore the pH levels in the mouth to neutral. Acidic foods can wear away tooth enamel.

When your child wears braces, we suggest they brush their teeth after every meal. Your child should pay special attention to their gum line and then focus on brushing above, below and on each bracket. Flossing daily is also critical especially when your child has braces.

Dr. Michael on the vision side is phenomenal with children and also explaining to the parents their childrens eye health/needs. Highly recommend him! The office staff was a little gossipy and also our children's eyes were dilated and we weren't given any protective wear for their eyes for when they go in the sun when leaving their appointment nor were we told they can't be out in the sun or any kind of advisory on it, luckily it wasn't our children's first time with eye dilation so we already were aware they couldn't but if it were a patients first visit and they weren't aware it could be damaging to their kids eyes, I think it's important to be sure the parents are informed of the after care of eye dilation.

I haven't had a problem with the work . Or the business. However. The constant email text follow up. Reminder messages are excessive!; I have thought of changing businesses based on the constant reminders and constant bugging. Like seriously. It is extremely annoying.

Currently waiting for my kids to see vision side...current time is 12:38 I got here at 11:50. Still have yet to have any of kids called back and I had to ask the front desk what is going on. Business model is to have them check in every 10 minutes. Completly unacceptable.

I was expecting the same or even better patient experience as their Lakewood sister office. From starting in vision as we checked in the front desk girl was rude not welcoming whatsoever (she probably doesn't like working Saturdays) I checked my son in and then asked if I could have my other sons glasses frame swapped out as he broke them she proceeded to get frame info and I was told she needed to order them as they ( Greeley office) doesn't do same day frame swap I asked if she was sure about cause my son has a high prescription and needing to wear glasses full time and he couldn't go 2 weeks without having glasses and since I had worked at the Lakewood location and we did same day frame repair her sarcastic response was " yes I'm sure that's how we do it here"did not explain why they do it that way. I called the Lakewood location and they still do the same day frame swap now I have to drive and hour in a half away to get my son his glasses repaired which is ridiculous of Greeley to do to patients with high prescription. Once in the back the vision tech did forget to check pupils, and do other pre testing done, maybe she is new but missing those important things can be really bad if patient had eye conditions and jeopardizing the doctor's license , they can definitely have her retrained and shadowed by her team lead or regional trainer. The doctor was quick and very nice could've explained to the patient the importance of wearing glasses full time. Once my son choose his glasses the tech did not check for the proper fit or if they were too loose she just looked at him and took the glasses to order them. You can clearly see the team has no management department and office wide. With the dental side the wait to get called back was long once called back the dental assistant was very friendly and showing everything she was going to do before doing it. The dental doctor was in a hurry and had no time to explain the treatment to us or if we wanted to schedule a next appointment to have it taken care of. Safe to say I will not be returning to this location and will be returning back to Lakewood for future appointments.

This office was amazing from the front to the back. The assistants were all very good and Dr. Rojas made my kiddos feel very comfortable. I work for Pacific Dental Service for 12 years and I thought we were the best, I take it all back Adventure Dental is well organized and I loved how they started treatment the same day. You all are amazing, your team and office made me want to go back to Dentistry.

My totally awesome special needs son was treated very inconsiderately & with little understanding. Adventure Dental needs to teach their employees how to be considerate of all children, people & situations. Kindness makes a world of difference & a difference in the world.
