Dr. Curl works with each patient individually to determine the best material to construct their dental restoration based on their unique needs and goals. Our dentist only uses labs in the United States that selectmaterials that pass American standards for quality and meet or exceed his rigorous standards.

Every single person here is incredible and wonderful! They were all so respectful towards me and my ignorance of dental care. I never felt like anyone was judging me for not ever being to a dentist. They were kind, patient, and calm with my anxieties.

The team at Advanced Premier Dental and Implant Dentistry is dedicated to providing patients with the best care possible. Over the past 40 years, Dr. Curl has garnered a reputation within the international community of dental professionals for his expertise in the field of implant dentistry. A former professor at the University of Texas, he is the first choice of doctors, nurses, and other dentists in Spring, Conroe, and The Woodlands.

So that you can enjoy years of service from your new smile, Dr. Curl will only perform implant surgery if your oral health can support an implant. Any outstanding dental conditions, such as gum disease, will need to be resolved before moving forward with your implant treatment.

If you have been living with missing teeth for some time, you may be suffering from significant jawbone atrophy. If your bone density is too low to support an implant, Dr. Curl can perform bone grafting in order to strengthen your jaw.

Autoimmune disorders and inflammatory diseases, such as diabetes, increase certain risks associated with surgery and slow your body's healing response. These types of conditions should be well-managed since you need to be in good overall health for implants to be successful.

Nicotine affects your body's ability to heal. Smoking also increases the risk of complications during and after surgery. Dr. Curl recommends that you quit smoking for several months in advance if you are interested in dental implant treatment.

Our team is dedicated to providing patients with access to cost-effective dental care. Our office managers work closely with patients and Dr. Curl to develop treatment and financial plans so that everyone who visits our dental practice in The Woodlands can improve their oral health.

We accept most major dental insurance plans, and our friendly office staff will file all the necessary paperwork with your provider to ensure you make the most of your benefits. While dental implants are generally not covered by dental insurance, preparatory procedures and final restorations such as bridges, crowns, or dentures may be, depending on your specific dental plan.

To help manage out-of-pocket expenses, we accept financing through third-party lenders LendingClub, GreenSky, and CareCredit. These financing options allow patients to choose a payment plan that works with their unique budget. Our team can answer any questions you may have about financing and help you choose the option that best meets your needs.

If you are a new patient to our dentistry practice, Dr. Curl will conduct a full examination to determine your current state of oral health. This will include an oral cancer screening and periodontal health check so that he can ensure your implant surgery will be successful. He will also review your medical history and discuss treatment options such as restoration materials. Any questions you may have will be answered, and you will leave fully educated about your treatment plan.

Any outstanding issues will need to be addressed before proceeding with your implant placement. Gum disease and low bone density are common concerns that may require treatment. For gum disease, depending on the extent of the infection, treatment may take up to a year. The same timeline can be expected from bone grafting. Dr. Curl will not place implants unless he can achieve a 95%-97% chance of success based on his calculations.

During the first surgery, Dr. Curl will administer local anesthesia to completely numb the area before proceedingso you do not feel pain during the procedure. Dr. Curl offers oral sedation for patients with dental anxiety so that they can relax during surgery.Patients who choose sedation will likely feel tired or groggy after their procedureand will need a friend or family member to drive them home after treatment.

Once he is sure you are comfortable, he will make small incisions in your gums and place the titanium implants into your jawbone. Placing each implant will generally take between one and two hours. The length of surgery will depend on how many implants you receive and other factors individual to your case. After surgery, you will feel mild pain for up to 10 days. Over-the-counter medicine can be used to manage any discomfort.

In the months following placement, the bone tissue in your jaw will fuse with the titanium implant in a process called osseointegration. For your implant to be successful, the titanium post needs to fully integrate into the bone. Generally, this process takes six months for an implant placed in a top arch and three months for an implant placed in a lower arch.

An abutment is a small connector piece used to attach your crown, bridge, or denture to your dental implants. During this second surgery, a small incision will be made to expose the implant and secure the abutment. Dr. Curl will also take digital impressions of your smile that will be forwarded to our lab so that they can craft your custom restoration.

During the next four to six weeks, your gums will heal around the abutment. It is important to follow the post-op instructions provided by Dr. Curl. These guidelines will help prevent infection and promote healing.

In large part, you can care for dental implants in much the same way you care for your natural teeth. Follow these tips to ensure your dental implants and restorations stay stunning for years to come:

Whether you have a single crown or a full implant-supported denture, continue the habit of brushing twice a day. With implants, it's important to use low-abrasive toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Hard bristles are more likely to lead to gum recession, which can expose the abutment or implant.

Carefully floss around the base of each implant daily to remove plaque and food debris. Tools like a floss threader, interdental brush, or water flosser can help make cleaning hard-to-reach places easier. Water flossers are especially helpful for cleaning between implant-supported dentures and the gums.

Though implant-supported restorations are durable, they're not indestructible. Chewing on hard objects such as ice, pen caps, pencils, or your nails can damage your implants and crown, bridge, or denture. Using your teeth to open packaging can lead to damage as well.

Continue to visit the dentist twice a year so your oral health can be monitored and your implants given a thorough deep cleaning. Twice-yearly checkups will help ensure potential problems are caught and treated before they become bigger concerns.

If you're missing teeth, you'll know the challenges that gaps in your smile can bring. Chewing easily, speaking clearly, and sharing your smile aren't things thatneed to stay in your rearview mirror forever. Implant-supported restorations placed by Dr. Curl will give you something to smile about. Our office in The Woodlands, TX, provides state-of-the-art care for patients from Spring, Conroe, and the surrounding area.

You may need a root canal if decay has penetrated from the outermost layer of the tooth to the central chamber, known as the pulp. The pulp containsblood vessels andnerves. When this area is infected, it can result in painful symptoms including:

If left untreated, an infected tooth could eventually fall outor otherwise require extraction. To avoid more extensive and costly restorative procedures, it is important tovisit our office before your condition worsens.

Thanks to modernanesthetics, root canal therapy is often aspainless as receiving afilling. During the procedure, Dr. Curl willcreate a small pilotholeto access the inner chamber. He willremove infected tissue and reshape the canals. After thoroughly cleaning the canals, Dr. Curl can fill the spacewith a biocompatible materialcalled gutta-percha and place a temporary restoration. Your tooth may be restored with a composite resin filling or a custom crown a few weeks later.

During your second visit to our office, Dr. Curl will check for signs of infection. If none are detected, he willsecure your crown in place. With proper care, an endodontically treated tooth can lastfor a lifetime.

Root canal therapy is not an elective procedureand is intended to save your tooth from harmful infection. The procedure is covered by most insurance plans, and our office management can help you work with your providerto ensure youget the most of your benefits. For patients without dental insurance, a root canal is less expensive than tooth-replacement.

Root canal procedureseliminate pain caused by infection, and most patients experience immediaterelief once the infection is removed. If you are experiencing signs of a dental infection, schedule an assessment as soon as possible. You may call our office at (281) 367-6777 or submit an online contact formanytime. With over40 years of experience in dentistry, you can trust Dr. Curl to deliver the finest care available.

I chipped a tooth for the first time in my life and was extremely worried and had no idea what to do! I called my primary dentist and they seemed to have no concern and said the soonest they could get me in was a week from now... So the google search began and I started calling around to find someone to get me in the same day. Dr. Curl's office manager was extremely kind over the phone and was quick to get me in asap. I came in and the staff was all very kind, they got me taken care of in a timely manner (for a walk in appointment), and went over everything before proceeding to make sure it was something I was comfortable doing/paying for. Dr. Curl used a laser to fill in the chip and I kid you not it took less than 15 minutes! I appreciate everything and I will for sure be switching to Dr. Curl as my primary dentist!!!
