Dr. Robert Busan is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board Periodontology, and is also an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society.
Dr. Busan grew up in southern California, and received his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Economics, as well as his Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees at the University of California at Los Angeles. He then completed a 3 year post-graduate residency in periodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In addition to working in private practice, Dr. Busan was a Clinical Assistant professor at the university in the Department of Periodontics until 2014, when he transitioned to full time private practice.
Dr. Leonard Bernstein was born and educated in California. He went to dental school at UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles) where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Upon graduation, he received the senior award in Periodontics, the senior award in Oral Pathology, and was inducted into the honor dental fraternity, Omicron Kappa Epsilon. Dr. Bernstein attended USC (University of Southern California) for his Periodontal Residency. At USC, he participated in periodontal research on the bacterial causes and effects on periodontal disease.
Dr. Bernstein met his wife at UCLA. She is a native Rockfordian and they chose to return to Rockford. They have 3 daughters and have been married over 30 years. Dr. Bernstein has been a practicing Periodontist in Rockford for over 25 years.
Dr. Bernstein and Dr. Busan believe in treating patients with scientific based, proven, modern, yet traditional methods, with fees that are reasonable and customary. Along with this, we are a member of several preferred provider plans with a number of different insurance companies.

Dr Busan helped my son with an injury to his teeth and gums. He took the time to meet and talk with the Orthodontist and Dentist to coordinate a plan for recovery. He was very professional and thorough for the procedures and follow ups. He and his staff are super friendly and very good at explaining things.

I had came in to get a tissue graft and was seen by Dr. Busan and I can't say enough about him, he was amazing. He is very professional, caring and thorough with explaining everything. I was super anxious about having surgery, but Dr. Busan did everything to make sure I was okay. Also, the day after the surgery Dr. Busan made a follow up call to me to check how I was doing and I was shocked because most of the time it's the nurses who follow up, if that. He really shows he cares. Also, his assistant Mela was amazing and even let me hold her hand during surgery. I would 100% recommend this place, you will not be disappointed. I had a great experience with every member of this office!

Dr. Busan extracted my upper right molar (#3) yesterday and I had no pain during the procedure. He was very professional, thorough and on time. I would definitely recommend him and use him again, if necessary.

I was very pleased at the friendliness of the staff, the professionalism in the office and the personal care provided by Dr. Busan and his staff. I was greeted warmly and did not have to wait long for to be called in and examined. My oral exam was completed by the Doctor and assistant. Full X-Rays were taken right in the office. Dr. Busan explained his concerns and what I was seeing on the X-Rays. He and his assistant were very patient with me as we discussed issues and options for treatment. I really appreciated their time.

Dr. Bernstein did excellent work with both of my gum grafts. He worked quickly, and I had no facial bruising after the procedure. I was also impressed that he called me himself the next morning to make sure everything was ok. I would highly recommend!
