Dr. DOcchio was raised in Bethlehem, CT and graduated from Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, CT. He then attended Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA, earning his B.S. in Biochemistry. After college he worked for two years as a Medicinal Chemist for Pfizer, Inc. in Groton, CT, where he fell in love with the Connecticut shoreline. Following his work for Pfizer, he attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine graduating in 2004, earning various awards including the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Award and the International College of Dentists Award. Following graduation, Dr. DOcchio completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency, also at UCONN.
He enjoys performing all aspects of General Dentistry, especially Cosmetic and Esthetic Dentistry, as well as working with pediatric patients. Dr. DOcchio is a part of the UCONN School of Dental Medicine and is active with the Alumni Board. He has also been involved in performing humanitarian dentistry in developing countries such as Peru, Haiti and Paraguay.
Outside of work he enjoys various outdoor activities, including running, hiking, cycling and fishing. He completed the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Boston Marathon as part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Societys Team in Training. He has participated in the Cape Cod Getaway Bike Ride to support the National MS Society where he rode 150 miles from Boston to Provincetown.
Dr. DOcchio lives with his wife Kalyn, their son Carlin and their dog Jersey, in their home in Ivoryton, CT. He loves spending time with his family and friends and taking advantage of all the wonderful things that New England has to offer.
Kathi is a Connecticut native and she and her husband have two grown boys. She enjoys spending time at their cottage and hanging out on the boat. During Kathis vacation you will always find her at a warm destination with white sandy beaches.
Laura graduated in 2005 from the University of Connecticut with a Marketing and Psychology degree. She then earned her Degree in Hygiene from the University of New Haven in 2011. Following graduation she completed an internship where she volunteered at a Romanian orphanage teaching children about oral health and hygiene. Laura has a very gentle touch and always has a good story to tell.
An interesting fact about Laura is that she is a twin. In April 2013, Norwich Magazine named Laura and her twin sister two of Norwichs most beautiful residents and they made the cover! Outside of work she enjoys spending time with friends, working out, hiking and she is always up for experiencing new things.
Nastassia graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of New Haven. After graduating Nastassia volunteered on an Indian Reservation in South Dakota. She is passionate about all aspects of dentistry, believing great health starts with the mouth. Nastassia has great relationships with all her patients and hopes to get them to their greatest dental health possible and then maintain it. Nastassia lives in Madison with her husband, daughter and son and their Italian Greyhound. Outside of work she enjoys time with her family (all of which are nearby), yoga, forensic shows and decorating her home and yard.
Rachael graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Porter and Chester Institute in January of 2020. She was originally born in Virginia Beach, but moved to Connecticut when she was three. She currently lives in New London with her two cats, Tucker and Spot. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with friends, finding new places to eat and riding her dirtbike.
Heather graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Porter and Chester Institute in January of 2020. After school she externed at Advanced Family Dentistry for a couple of months. She has worked in a Pediatric office where education is key in making the environment comfortable for children. She is looking forward to bringing her experience with kids to the practice. She also loves the outdoors and animal care. Anywhere there is a cute cuddly creature you will find her.
Catherine is our newest front desk member. She was born in Hoboken, NJ and moved to CT at 11 years old. She currently resides in Norwich, CT with her fiance Eddie. During her free time she enjoys traveling, visiting new restaurants, and spending time with family including her 10 year old son and friends. She has traveled to Thailand, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Mexico, Aruba, Columbia and Puerto Rico. Catherine is excited about working at AFDOL and eager to learn new things within the dental field!
She and her husband live in Old Lyme and are very active in the community. She has two grown children and a wonderful dog named Brit. She enjoys traveling to her favorite Island of Saint John and baking fabulous cakes for staff members birthdays!
