Facial surgery has traditionally beenperformed by Otolaryngologists, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons and they provide facial trauma services for your local hospital. These specialties also perform reconstructive surgery resulting from trauma, birth defects or cancer. There is no one best educational route to becoming a facial surgeon. Many of these specialties resident programs offer cosmetic surgery training or a post-graduate fellowship training in cosmetic surgery. What is important is the experience in their specific residency or any fellowships related to cosmetic surgery and many of these residencies, including Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, do not perform facial cosmetic surgery procedures, yet are immediately given faithful respect that they are qualified in facial cosmetic surgery. These three specialties have laid the foundation for facial cosmetic surgery but many other specialists can perform cosmetic procedures such as a Dermatologists and Opthamologists and have equally contributed to the advancement of the surgical techniques that we currently use today.

The techniques and instrumentation used in facial cosmetic surgery today arise from broadly overlapping disciplines in which many different specialties have contributed in their particular expertise. For example, Dermatologists have made many strides in skin rejuvenation, hair transplantation and liposuction. Likewise, Ophthalmic Surgeons have contributed to eye enhancement surgery; Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons have developed new techniques for correcting deformities of the jaw and mouth, and Otolaryngologist/head and neck surgeons have made great contributions to facial plastic and cosmetic surgery. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons have then taken the foundations and improved the techniques to help lay the framework of current understanding in cosmetic surgery techniques.

Unfortunately, cosmetic surgery has become a fierce competition for patients with certain specialties believing they possess the skills and knowledge to perform facial cosmetic surgery better than the other. This has become apparent with certain specialties who advertise that their discipline is the only one qualified to perform such procedures, unfortunately this is a misrepresentation of the facts at the expense of the patient. This turf battle was played out in California where the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Direction of Governor Schwarzenegger completed an extensive look into the training of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and concluded We found that Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons have sufficient education, training and experience to perform elective facial cosmetic procedures. While there may be some variation in the offerings of training programs, recent graduates of residency or postgraduate fellowship programs have completed comprehensive programs of study that provide them with a solid foundation to perform cosmetic procedures and the clinical skills to obtain documentation of their skills. Practitioners who are already providing elective facial cosmetic surgery surgical procedures have proven their clinical competence to perform the procedures and it appears that the written and oral examinations for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (board) certification and other related certification examinations are comprehensive and cover a wide range of topics applicable to facial cosmetic surgical procedures.

It is imperative when choosing a cosmetic surgeon to consider the following issues. Cosmetic surgery is a major decision and careful thought should be given to choosing a provider. Any reputable cosmetic surgeon will welcome your questions and want you to be completely comfortable with his or her qualifications.

While there are very competent surgeons that are not board certified in their specialties, these certifications are extremely high achievements and require years of training and the completion of demanding written and oral exams that designate the best surgeons in the field.

Some surgeons employ others to perform certain aspects of cosmetic surgery, such as Botox or dermal fillers. Dr. Johnson performs 100% of all the cosmetic surgery services he offers in his Clermont, FL practice.

Keep in mind that surgeons specialize in different areas of cosmetic surgery and most are not experts in every area. The surgeon who did a fantastic facelift on a friend may not be the most experienced to perform breast augmentation or rhinoplasty.

Photos can give you some indication of a surgeons ability, although you must realize that they cannot guarantee the result you will achieve. Each patient is different and the surgeon can help determine what kind of results you should expect.

Cosmetic surgery is performed in various facilities such as hospitals, surgical centers and office settings. Advanced Faces provides facial cosmetic surgeries to the people throughout Clermont, Leesburg, Windemere, and the greater Orlando area in facilities that have been accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC) or the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

At Advanced Faces, you will be given Dr. Johnsons personal cell phone to be reached after your surgery at any time during the day or night. Before the surgery, he is available for phone consults or reevaluation to answer any questions. This is a big commitment for the patient and he/she needs to know that Dr. Johnson is equally committed to him or her.

  • A doctor who is willing to combine several major surgeries into one operation. While this may save on anesthesia and surgical facility fees, safety must be the primary concern. Not only is surgery traumatic on your body, but the surgeon and staff tire out as well.
  • We cannot stress enough how important it is for you to thoroughly get to know your cosmetic surgeon before beginning any treatments. At Advanced Faces, we are an open book, and invite you to ask any questions that you might have.

If you are in need of a facial cosmetic procedure, or oral and maxillofacial surgery in Clermont, Windemere, Leesburg or any surrounding Orlando areas, and would like to get to know Dr. Johnson, please contact us by calling 352.242.0627.

I was taking Xgeva to strengthen my bones & it did something unusual---it grew a new jaw bone in my mouth. Dr Johnson was recommended by my dentist. Dr. Johnson proved to be a very knowledgeable, competent & capable Doctor & gave me the confidence he could solve my issue --- and he did.

Excellent service!! The staff was extremely friendly and the office was very nice. The doctor was very gentle when removing my wisdom teeth and I did not experience any pain whatsoever. If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would!

I had taken my adult Son on referral to Dr. Johnson's office to get four wisdom teeth pulled. My Son has Autism as well as a seizure disorder and Dr. Johnson recommended the procedure be done in a hospital setting for safety purposes. My Son had several cavities and our dentist did not want to take care of the cavities until the wisdom teeth were pulled. I would like to clarify that our problem was not with Dr. Johnson, but with a member of the staff that takes care of the financing. Apparently our dental insurance covers the dental work, however medical insurance would have to cover the hospital portion. Our insurance declined payment for it. I called Dr. Johnson's office to send a letter to the insurance company to dispute wheir decision and explain that they are not paying for dental work but are paying for the hospital stay because of his medical condition of having a seizure disorder. Apparently the insurance company did not understand through the letter that was sent the fact that they would not be covering the dental work, only the hospital portion. I called the insurance company and was going to dispute their decision myself but they recommended that it be done by the surgeon's office. I called Dr. Johnson's office back and told them what the insurance company had said and she seemed unwilling and agrivated at this point. My husband and I tried some other options we'd hoped were available to get our Son taken care of but to no avail. Due to Covid my husband was layed of from his job of 23 years and we like many families were trying to stay afloat and pay our mortgage and bills to feed our family of eight. At the time we were unable to afford several thousand dollars out of pocket to pay for the hospital portion ourselves. We were in a complete quandary about what to do. Meanwhile our Son's teeth were getting worse and starting to decay and he had to get some root canals done and kept getting infections in his mouth. Now he has an infection again and we called our Doctor over the weekend to get him on some antibiotics. He's in dire pain and complaining about migraines due to the oral pain. My husband had been called back to work so we decided that we would just pay out of pocket to get the surgery done. I was told that Dr. Johnson was on vacation and would not be back until September. I was also told that since we had not been their since December, we would have to start the process over again and be seen again. I told her I was very frustrated because my Son was in a lot of pain and can she help advise me on something else we could do or someone else we could see to get this taken care of sooner but she went back to the fact that Dr Johnson would not be back until September at a time we were going to be out of town. I told her but my son is in pain now and is their anything she could advise me to do right now as a professional. I asked if it were her child and he was suffering now, and needed something done now, where would she go? At this point I was in tears. Her response to me was, and I quote, "I would have had it taken care of a long time ago". Then she went on to talk about how I'm willing to pay out of pocket now but not then. I was livid. Never have I had anyone in a few words imply that I'm not a good Mother who didn't take care of my disabled Son. I guess having no income during Covid was something that needed to be explained. Or the fact that we aren't a wealthy family but an average American family who pays a fortune for medical insurance to keep our medically needy young adults in a position to be able to receive the best medical, dental and vision care cause Medicaid provides such substandard care, especially for dental work. It makes me realize where people with disabilities stand when they are on their own. I'm sorry, but one thing I would expect from a dental office is compassion. Even if it's too much to ask for a second letter of dispute to the insurance company in hope that the dental office is willing to fight for their patients, the least I would expect is the show of some compassion.

I recently had my child evaluated by Dr.Johnson and my experience was exceptional. From making the initial appointment to checking in with the front office staff, being taken back by the assistant to meeting the doctor himself. While leaving this review, i came across a review left recently by Nancy Koran, and i felt that it was much needed to respond to her review as i was actually in the office when her son was there that same day . I must say that as a witness those statements are all false. And i find it very sad to bring such a bad view and say such negative and false comments about his front office staff, especially when she wasn't present to the appointment herself. As a parent whom was there with my child, my experience was great, and this goes to the entire staff there. You will not be disappointed.

Unprofessional no Ettique coming from Andrea front office , was seen being rude and disrespectful to a young boy scared about his appt to see the Surgeon not comforting , used slang words in front of the entire waiting room area , in front of a parent , when asked to speak with and office manager ignored the patient and started to answer incoming phone calls ! My advice is run from this office ! Don't schedule any appointments here! Not a trustworthy parents choice of an office not kind to kids , could be taken as discriminatory to children ! No not the place to go! Not sure if the reviews are up to date but this one is 8-16-21 Office staff Andrea non apologetic terrible rudeness discriminatory towards a child! Terrible staff!

I had lower jaw surgery in June and similar upper jaw surgery in September. Dr. Johnson and crew were amazing. The procedure was fully explained. Appointments were properly made. All went well on the day of the surgeries due to the competencies and experience of the doctor and assistants. I received phone call follow-ups to make sure all was going well. Claudia was my guardian angel through all of this! I highly recommend Dr. Johnson and his office staff!
