Dr. Joel Chasen grew up in Cheshire, CT. After graduating from Choate Rosemary Hall in 1992 he moved to Atlanta where he earned his Bachelors degree from Emory University. He then went on to obtain his DMD degree from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2000. Continuing his education in Boston, he completed his specialty training in endodontics (root canals) at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. After finishing his training in Boston, Dr. Chasen moved back to Cheshire to join Advanced Endodontics of Connecticut. He has been in full-time private practice limited to endodontics ever since.
Although he focuses most of his energy into his passion for clinical endodontics, Dr. Chasen has also involved himself in scientific research. He has performed studies on the factors that influence the success/failure of endodontic treatment, and investigated the possible link between endodontic disease and cardiovascular disease. His research has been published in the Journal of Dental Research as well as the Journal of Endodontics.
Dr. Chasen is a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists, a past-president of the Meriden-Wallingford-Cheshire Dental society, and currently sits on the board of directors of the Schilder Institute for the Advancement of Endodontics. He has been repeatedly recognized as a 'Top Endodontist' by Connecticut Magazine and the USA topDentists survey. He enjoys learning about and playing with technology and spending time with his wife and two sons.
Dr. Andrea Gentile-Fiori grew up in City Island, NY with her parents and twin brother, Andrew. In 1983, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then attended the State University of New York Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine where she earned her DDS Degree upon graduation in 1987. Dr. Gentile-Fiori completed a one-year residency in general dentistry at Stony Brook University Hospital in 1988. She then completed a two year specialty training residency in endodontics (root canals) at Nassau County Medical Center in NY, serving as chief resident in her second year. After completing her specialty training in 1990, Dr. Gentile-Fiori moved back to City Island with her husband and began her endodontic career in private practice in Queens, NY. When her husband, John, accepted a position with Sikorsky Aircraft, they moved to Connecticut to start their family and she began practicing in Meriden, CT. In the years that followed, Dr. Gentile-Fiori worked tirelessly to grow the practice into what has now become Advanced Endodontics of Connecticut, including engineering the expansion into southern Connecticut with the opening of a Stratford office.
Dr. Gentile-Fiori is a proud member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Meriden-Wallingford-Cheshire Dental Association, the Bridgeport Dental Association and the American Association of Women Dentists. She has been repeatedly recognized as a 'Top Endodontist' by Connecticut Magazine and the USA topDentists survey. She enjoys traveling, spending quality time with her husband, four children and four dogs, and being a dedicated hockey mom.
Joshua Dembsky, a native of central New Jersey, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University in 1996, before attending dental school at the University of Pennsylvania. After receiving his dental degree in 2000, Joshua began his military service as a dental officer in the United States Navy. In 2001, he completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Naval Dental Center Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida, before fulfilling his 4 years of Naval service at Naval Dental Center Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk and Naval Air Station Oceana. He then went on to complete his residency in Endodontics (root canals) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2006, and practiced endodontics in private practice in New Mexico before joining the team at Advanced Endodontics of Connecticut in 2007.
Dr. Dembsky is a Board Certified Endodontist and has won numerous awards including the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship and the Pierre Fauchard Dental Leadership Award. He has conducted original research at the University of Pennsylvania, Louisiana State University, and the Smithsonian Institution, and has lectured at multiple dental society meetings. He has been repeatedly recognized as a 'Top Endodontist' by Connecticut Magazine and the USA topDentists survey. His personal interests include travel and the outdoors and he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

I want to first say my experience was the best I could make it and i will say is Dr. Gentile and Dr. Dembsky from the time I met them until l I left the company are amazing doctors and treated me with dignity and respect. They exemplified what it means to be professionals and I can' thank them enough for that. My former coworkers were awesome in both offices, they worked hard and like me, were committed to patient experience and customer care. My only issue is the fact that one cannot preach the message of family and the importance of family and feeling included but does not posses a genuine bone in their body. I realized my place in this company when one of the doctors invited me to their home for a birthday celebration. I am an Veteran and a minority. I did not think being at a gathering could be more uncomfortable and that the host himself would do nothing to make me feel welcomed. I was watched and followed like I was going to steal something. I felt like that black sheep, pun intended. When i brought my concerns to this doctor he basically said that I was the problem and he felt bad I didn't have a good time at my amazing party, reiterating nothing was wrong with his party. It doesn't help that no one can remember seeing an African American employee, yet alone an African American male ; though the office manager claims he is black yet doesn't identify as such in any way shape or form. I'm certain my presence was not expected and to make make it even worse, I was even told by this doctor that when I first arrived to his home I startled his wife and she stated to him you "didn't tell me he was black." All in all, this doctor made everyone's experience and time there uncomfortable and miserable. Though he is talented, being a great doctor is not an excuse for being a horrible person. Though my departure was not expected, I took a position that offered me more benefits and an increase in pay. I was not the greatest employee But I went above and beyond for doctors, patients and my fellow coworkers. Any referring office or patient can tell you how committed and dedicated to making their day a lot better than it was before calling; just look at the reviews. This particular doctor took it so personal with me leaving that when contacted by another employer he stated inaccurate statements and took his personal feelings against me and the inconvenience of my departure as a means to hinder my growth as a father and citizen. Any human being willing to try and ruin the life of another because they moved on to another position to better their chances at providing more for their family is not a good person, even if they're great at saving teeth. This particular doctor, along with the office manager are liars, manipulators, and self centered cowards. I would recommend Dr. Gentile and Dr. Dembsky but that's where my respect and admiration ends. Hope this helps -ECL

I went to this practice based on a referral from my dentist and was IMPRESSED by all the staff (including Eric at the front desk) AND the quality of the work. Dr Dembsky took his time explaining the procedure, did it quickly and painlessly and kept me "smiling" the whole time. I've had a root canal in the past and can confidently say this was my best experience. They got me out of pain and on my way! So appreciative and here to say that if you've got teeth problems and want an easy, painless, guiltless procedure, go see them!

I've had (unfortunately) two root canals in the past year here. Everybody was very friendly and personable, exactly what you want when you're getting a last resort procedure. Great experiences both times.

I've taken my mother in law a couple of times and the experience has always been a pleasant one. The doctor informed me on every procedure and made me aware of any discomfort or side effects she may experience. The staff is very friendly and personable. Eric is a wonderful addition to the staff and fits the role perfectly. Thanks guys, see you soon :-)

Start to finish had a great experience (as great as possible anyhow for getting a root canal). Would highly recommend. If you need to get a root canal, ck out the Stratford branch of AE

Find a doctor that you trust and will get the job done right the first time. Don't waste your time or money with this doctor. Dr. Dembsky has performed 3 root canals for me 2 of which failed and required tooth extraction. He was overly cautious with my teeth stating that root canal was not required. Shortly after on vacation I got another abscess in that area (very painful). He eventually treated one tooth and again 6 months later an abscess appeared in the same area. So he went back and did a second root canal to the tooth behind it. I later experienced abscesses in the area after the root canal and caps were done again over about 1 year. I eventually opted to have the teeth extracted all together instead of risking wasting more time and money on root canals.

Really bad! One of the girls on the phone (Rebecca) who supposed to have good customer service and should know to not hang up on people was so rude and giving an attitude when she is supposed to be doing her job. This place only cares about money. They will charge you 300$ extra with insurance for an emergency pedicure, this place was referred from my dentist office and I called my dentist to refer me to somewhere else.

I went in for an emergency root canal on tooth #9 (my left front tooth) because there was an infection in my gum above the tooth that had formed that year. It was very last minute and in the last couple weeks of December 2019. I had lived about 7- 8 years with trauma to my tooth because a previous dentist worked on it and said it was impossible to fix the trauma (the truth was, SHE couldn't fix the trauma). So she sealed it up like if it was a cavity. Awful experience. So when I went to see Dr. Chasen I already felt uncomfortable due to not so awesome dental experiences. He honestly is very educated in what he does, his personality brings comfort, and his experience brings confidence. It was honestly a miracle in my perspective, the tooth was very fragile, infected, and discolored (yellow). Dr. Chasen didn't promise success which was very honest but he did advise me that it was worth a shot, because if I lost the tooth I could be looking at an implant (which was true after many evaluations by different doctors). He was able to cure the tooth, within weeks my gum looked better. My tooth doesn't cause me pain nor discomfort and it looks great as we proceeded to do internal bleaching which was then balanced out by Dr. Monteiro at Goldberg and Marcus. I can now bite into apples without fear of pain or loss. I would recommend Dr.Chasen to everyone I know.

My wife was a patient of theirs back in 2016. Out of nowhere, three years later, we get a bill from them for $599. They told us twice over the phone that they would forgive the debt since it was their mistake, then we get a letter telling us they're sending it to collections. We spoke with a member of their team who was incredibly rude and condescending, who said that after further consideration they weren't able to remove our balance. I see from the other reviews that we're not the only person this has happened to. Needless to say we won't be sending any additional business their way and I recommend you do the same if you're considering this practice.

Sometimes the competency of a dentist is not just measured in his/her work, but how much respect is given to their patients. My insurance apparently shorted them $22 for a treatment in 2015. I never received any bill requesting payment, until today over 4 years later. The bill boasted a blatent statement that they had a glitch in billing and want their money. This group provides high-level dentistry in root canals, etc. which fetches a high billing rate. This insignificant amount, to me, is their greed. So, I will not return to this practice ever and I am mailing their $22.
