Dr. Carlsten has been at 433 Lloyd Avenue in Providence, RI since 1979. He is particularly proud to be affiliated with Health Services of Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. He currently serves as Diplomat for the National Board of Dental Examiners and the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners. Dr. Carlsten is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, attaining Deans List each semester and earning his B.S. Degree in Biology.
Prior to private practice, Dr. Carlsten, while serving as a dentist in the US Air Force, was Chairman of the Library Committee and Continuing Education Committee. He completed rotations in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontics, Endodontics, Pedodontics, Oral Surgery, and Prosthodontics. Dr. Carlsten is a proud father of three and grandfather of seven. He enjoys skiing, kayaking, biking, swimming, hiking and playing squash.
Also, he loves The Arts: the Rhode Island Philharmonic, all the visual arts, and the theatre. He also makes a feeble attempt to play the piano. Advocating, supporting, and protecting the environment remains an important concern to Dr. Carlsten.
Dr. Carlsten recognizes and appreciates (for himself and on behalf of his patients) the essential contributions of each and every member of his staff. Individually they are exceptional; collectively they form a superlative, cooperative team whose singular focus is on the best caring for each individual patient.
Keri, a graduate of Lincoln Technical School and our newest dental assistant, has been with us since 2007. She also is x-ray certified and likes - in addition to routine skills constructing whitening trays and temporary crowns. One of her greatest attributes is her caring attitude and her very upbeat nature. She considers each day a festive day at Advanced Dental Care. Away from the office she continues her fun at the beach or roller blading not at the same time!
Tracy, Registered Dental Hygienist has been with Advanced Dental Care since 1999. Add to that ten years prior experience and you know why I have so much respect for her skills. Not just from years of working, but more from a caring attitude. Hands on experience and continuing education bring us a wealth of knowledge and skills. Underlying this is a commitment to educating our patients regarding prevention of disease and maintenance of health. Tracy also has a wonderful husband and two great kids.
Lynn, our ever pleasant and caring treatment coordinator, has been with us at Advanced Dental Care since 2006. Having previously worked in a periodontal office, she brings that additional specialty knowledge to our practice. Our patients appreciate her patient explanation of their treatment needs and insurance concerns. When not with her loving husband George, or visiting her sons, Michael and Joe, she relishes time with her grandson Braedon.
Katie, our senior dental assistant, started her education and training at CCRI. Already having been an Advanced Dental Care team member for six years, I look forward to the next six years, with her by my side. Katies advanced skills include construction of handcrafted temporary restorations and fitting of customized night guards. She also is a certified Zoom 2 technician, taking great pride and gratification in developing a whiter and brighter smile for our patients. Yes, Katie does have a life outside of our office! Camping and beach going are favorite activities with her husband Jamie, wonderful son Harrison, and daughter Hayden.
Diane, Registered Dental Hygienist, is unfortunately only able to spend one day a week with us. Both we and her patients would wish for more. The value of 20 years experience and caring is immediately sensed by all our patients.
