My name is Dr. Michael W. Fuqua. Welcome to our family practice. I am a native of the Rio Grande Valley. I was born in Weslaco and grew up in Edinburg. I graduated Edinburg High School in 1980 and Pan American University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. I graduated from the University of Texas Dental School at Houston in 1990 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
I have been practicing dentistry since July 1990 and I am the owner of Advanced Dental Associates in Harlingen and Weslaco since October 1991. I have served the Rio Grande Valley Dental Society as Delegate to the Texas Dental Association, Hidalgo County Director, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President and President.
I am married to Laura Fuqua and ours sons Blake attends St. Joseph Academy at Brownsville and Miles attends Texas A&M University at College Station. I believe that what sets us apart at Advanced Dental Associates are the relationships we form with our patients. We provide quality care with a family feel.

Unfortunately, review went from 100 's to 2. I was apprehensive about going to the dentist after being without insurance for 2 years, plus I am new to the area so I needed to rely on reviews. After my visit here today, this is my dental office from now on. A hundred 's! Very nice, very professional and extremely friendly. Explained everything in detail with approximate costs and made suggestions for the best care going forward. And having someone who understands the insurance and can explain it to me, is so reassuring. Got my teeth cleaned, feels great!Thank y'all! Update, and it's disappointing. Broke a tooth, made appointment. I missed the one voicemail the afternoon before to confirm if I'd be there and because I have a metal roof, VMs do not come through. Before 8am appointment day I get VM, call and leave message that I will be there and to call me please if they cancelled my appointment. No call, I show up, no appointment. So yep, I'm upset, it's Friday and I have a broken tooth. So I get it, people miss their appointment but then others have to pay for that by getting theirs cancelled if they miss a VM? Oh and BTW, not everyone has VM. So not sure what to do next, my insurance only pays for that first visit with x-rays, etc., once a year.

Amazing experience from beginning to end. I hadn't been to the dentist in years so my teeth definitely needed some work. Front desk, specifically Cassy, was great at providing best treatment plans in terms of what worked best for my pocket and what was recommended by the dentist and hygienist. Jesse deep cleaned my teeth perfectly. I also had extensive work done by Dr. Iheanacho and his assistant, including the extraction of my 4 wisdom teeth, and I felt absolutely no pain. The entire staff is professional, friendly, and most importantly great at what they do.
