Dr. Nathaniel Chan was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. After completing an Honours B.Sc. in immunology at the University of Toronto, he moved to Boston to attend Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Since graduating, he has undergone advanced training at the Las Vegas Institute for smile design and neuromuscular dentistry. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University.

Dr. Hur is currently an assistant professor of Periodontology at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is a recipient of the fellowship award sponsored by American Academy of Periodontology Foundation.

Dr. Hur is a member and peer-reviewer for the two main publications of American Academy of Periodontology: Journal of Periodontology and Clinical Advances in Periodontics. He is a member of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR).

Biography Although a native of California, she and her husband now live in Boston with their Alaskan Klee Kai, Maverick. In her free time, Dr. Rowan enjoys oil painting, photography, scuba diving, and traveling.

Lindsey graduated from Mount Ida College in 2008. Lindsey has been working with Dr. Chan at Advanced Dental Arts since 2009. She enjoys getting to know her patients individually to provide high-quality dental care. We are lucky to have such a gentle and qualified dental team member. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her family and friends!

Janice joined the team in 2014 and is responsible for overseeing operations throughout the office and is also a dental assistant. She has two sons and enjoys being a mom, spending time at the beach, traveling and shopping. Janice says that everyone here is fabulous and she loves coming to work. We all work great together as a team.

Fangfang has been in the dental field since 2012 and joined our team in 2016. She loves to see what dentistry and its cutting-edge technology can do to restore patients oral health. She enjoys seeing before and after pictures of patients treatment and its positive impact on their lifestyle, working in a busy practice and continuing to learn. Fangfang grew up in Southern China, which is the Dim Sums hometown, and she is fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin. In her spare time, Fangfang enjoys working towards advancing her education.

Oral cancer includes cancers of the lips, tongue, floor of the mouth, cheeks, throat (pharynx), sinuses, and hard and soft palate. While oral cancer can usually be successfully treated when detected early, most cases of oral cancer are not detected until they have progressed into a more serious, advanced stage that is much more difficult to treat. One American dies every hour from oral cancer. Age is the primary risk factor, and although tobacco and alcohol are contributing factors, studies suggest that Human Papillomavirus (HPV 16/18) plays a role in more than 20% of oral cancer cases.

In order to provide you with the best possible dental care, it is essential that our dentist is able to accurately evaluate and diagnose your oral health. One of the state-of-the-art tools we use to do that is panoramic X-rays. While standard X-rays, called bitewing X-rays, provide us with a view of a few teeth and the supporting bone structure, panoramic X-rays allow us to view the full upper and lower dental arches including all of the teeth, upper and lower jawbones, and the surrounding facial structures. An intraoral camera is a tool we use to get a closer look at different parts of your smile. The intraoral camera is a small, pen-shaped tool that we can use to take color, high-quality photos of your teeth and gums, as well as other structures in your mouth as needed. Because the intraoral camera is so small and easily maneuverable, we can use it to see angles in your mouth that we cannot easily view with the unaided eye. We may utilize the intraoral camera to better evaluate your oral health and to diagnose dental problems like tooth decay and periodontal disease, as well as tooth damage like a cracked or chipped tooth. The intraoral camera is also useful in following up after a treatment has been completed.
