Dr. Vancewas born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. Heattended the University of Alabama, studied mechanical engineering, and graduated in 2002. For three years he worked in the foundry of a nearby automotive plant. It was a great first job, but not one that would become hiscareer. Hewanted a career that was more hands-on where hewas actually doing the work hetrained for instead of mostly being behind a desk; a career in which hewould be in control of hisfuture, not a corporation; a career that would let himfocus on hisinterests, allowing himto remain passionate about hisprofession.
After a chance conversation with a young local dentist, hebegan to realize that dentistry would satisfy hisprofessional goals and desires. Dr. Vanceleft engineering and went back to school at UAB while working at hischildhood dentists office as a dental assistant to make sure that heenjoyed it.
Dr. Vance graduated from UAB Dental School in June 2011. While in dental school, Dr. Vance conducted research involving the performance of cosmetic dental materials. This research was later published in the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry. In July 2011 he began a General Practice Residency (GPR) at UAB Hospital. A GPR is an elective, extra year of training for general dentists to advance their skills before they enter private practice or another area of specialty. In this program he treated patients with complex medical and dental conditions, completed a wide range of general dentistry procedures under the guidance of veteran professors, trained in oral conscious sedation and implant placement, and completed rotations in oral surgery, ENT, emergency medicine, anesthesia, and community outreach clinics. It was also during this program that Dr. Vance made the decision to open his practice in West Homewood. In 2017 he took over the office of Dr. James Gillespie and moved his practice to St. Vincents downtown campus in Birmingham, Alabama.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Vance loves cycling, lifting weights, and playing guitar. When time permits he and his younger brother, composer & content creator Jamie Vance, work on passion projects together like creating their own video game & writing comedy. They want to be the next Duplass Brothers when they grow up, apparently!

Dr Vance is really the best. I have been to several other dentists in Birmingham and my experiences at Advance Dental have far surpassed others. He's really understanding and has even helped worked around my hectic schedule with medical school. He is also very reasonably priced. Even though I don't live in Birmingham anymore, its worth making the drive to be seen by him. His office staff and hygienists are great also!

This is hands down BEST Dentist in Birmingham. Dr. Vance and his Staff are Extremely Friendly and Accommodating. They make you feel very comfortable during your Entire visit. I 10/10 Recommend going here.

Dr. Vance is, without exaggeration, the greatest dentist I've encountered. He took time to listen intently to each and every of my observations. He took time to explain every step and facet of the procedure. I left the office with a fully-informed view of the state of my dental health. All staff were top-notch. Gratitude.

This guy right here! He is one of the best Dentist I know. Having worked in the dental field for 8 years, I can be very particular about who touches my mouth. I fully trust this man with my oral health. I travel hours to see him and I get free dental at my job. That's how confident I am in his work. He is very knowledgeable, kind, and meticulous. I've never had one issue, he gets it done right the first time. It also helps he is a very enjoyable person to be around and the staff is lovely. He's my number one, highly recommended you make him your number one too!

Dr. Vance is far above and beyond the best dentist I have ever visited. Professional, steady handed, excellent quality of work, and there is no doubt he only has his patients health in mind. A no nonsense aproch to correcting dental issues is one of many reasons myself and my entire extended family exclusively use Dr Vance's office for all of our dental care.

The entire staff at AdVance Dental is wonderful. I had a tooth pulled on Friday, first one I've had pulled since I was a kid. I was well taken care of in every way. Very attentive. Been a patient there for almost 10 years and they've always taken care of me. Thank you Dr. Marc Vance!

Dr Vance is a fantastic dentist and has worked on my teeth for years. He's patient, friendly, funny, considerate and gentle. My teeth have never looked better and he's defiantly my dentist for life. Highly recommend him.

I am so happy that I searched the internet over and over for Oral sedation that's how scared I am going to the dentist. So I had two visits with Dr. Vance my first visit was for consultation and to be honest guys I would give this office a 100 stars if I could, Dr Vance explained every single detail of both teeth that I needed to be extracted ( never happened in all my years of going to the dentist). My second visit was on September 1, 2020 the actual day I did the extraction I used Oral sedation and I believe the price is very affordable compare to other places in town. I don't remember how long it took for Dr. Vance and his assistant (she was very nice and welcoming) to get done but I know I was pain free going home and even up until today it's been 5 days pain free. I will be going back to this office for my regular cleaning and checkups I hated going before this, but Dr. Vance made my experience a mind changer, I even recommended my mom who will be making her appointment after the holidays and I am taking my eldest son there too I have been telling all my friends and family who hate going to the dentist about my experience here. Again thanks Dr. Vance and your team for making my visit a mind changer.

I absolutely LOVE AdVance Dental. I have been a patient there for over 3 years. Their office is very clean and has state of the art equipment. Dr Vance is extremely professional and has a very gentle touch. You will never feel any pain, I promise. His staff is also the best I've ever witnessed.... very friendly and professional.
