Dr. Adly Awayes was born in Catskill New York to Dr. Abdelgaffar and Maha Awayes (affectionately referred to as Baba and Yum-ma). He moved to Milford, Delaware at age 4 where he grew up and attended the schools of the Milford School District; graduating high school in the late 1980s.

Starting at the University of Delaware, he later transferred to Temple University so he could roommate with his sister who was attending dental school in Philadelphia. Dr. Awayes attended Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry followed by a Residency at the University of Connecticut School of Dentistry and a Fellowship at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Haven Connecticut.

Upon returning to Delaware, Dr. Awayes worked for the State of Delaware providing dentistry for the Department of Corrections, gaining much-needed experience especially in emergency dentistry so he could better serve his patients needs. When he opened up his private practice a year and a half later, September of 1999, Dr. Awayes began providing general dentistry and pediatric dentistry as well as a much-needed emergency dental service to southern Delaware.

In 2004, the first step to a digital office came about with the acquisition of a CEREC unit which allowed in-office porcelain restoration, designing, and milling. In 2006, digital x-rays were introduced followed by complete digital record keeping in early 2009.

In 2006, Orthodontics and pediatric interceptive orthopedics were introduced followed by Invisalign orthodontic treatment. Parallel to orthodontic treatment in the office was the development of a Sleep disorder practiceand the initial start to jaw/headache treatment in the practice.

In 2007, Dr. Awayes received his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry for active pursuit of continuing education well beyond the required state licensing laws and is slated to advance to Master of the Academy of General Dentistry in 2017.

In the summer of 2012, Dr. Awayes received his fellowship in the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and updated the equipment and training protocols. This allowed for treating more advanced head and neck pain, temporomandibular pain and disorders, and migraine headaches related to the muscles associated with chewing and jaw function.

Dr. Awayess interests and hobbies include plastic model construction of ships and aircraft from World War I and World War II as well as exploring different cities and collecting university banners from their bookstores, marking the territories hes visited.

I found Dr. Awayes to be funny, genuinely compassionate and very willing to educate me on my oral health. He was one of the few dentist accepting new patients, so I'm glad I found him. He and his team provide excellent care.

I was with Dr. Alwayes for almost 10 years. The staff was usually very kind and good with my kids. I am not a dentist so I assumed he was doing a good job, that was until we moved and my kids had to start seeing another dentist. The new dentist spent months "fixing" what Dr. Alwayes did. One of the main things being my oldest child's front teeth. Three of them were broken and Dr Alwayes fixed them. I was never satisfied with how they looked, they were bulbous and the texture was strange; but as long as they were functional. The problem was there was no space left between the teeth which caused cavities so we had to get porcelain caps. Now the teeth look as if they were never repaired. As they should have from the beginning.

Dr Awayes and the whole staff could not have been any better and compassionate in helping me get through an emergency situation, on Monday evening the week of my sons wedding in Knoxville Tennesse, they went so far above and beyond any doctor or dentist I've ever dealt with. He fit me in and was able to help me so in all of the wedding festivities and photos I was able to be 100%. Thank you and you now have a new patient and I would highly recommend the Dr and all of his caring staff.

Had a emergency dental problem. Tooth was killing me. Called that morning and was in there 30 minutes later. Staff was friendly(especially the Philadelphia Eagles fan). Sorry I forgot your name, but you really put me at ease. Didn't get my tooth pulled, but I think the decision was the best. Left painless about a hour later with prescriptions for everything that I needed until I was able to book with oral surgeon.

I don't know what these negative reviews are about but Dr. Awayes answered an email I sent through his website on Thanksgiving evening after I had broken a tooth on that Tuesday and my dentist of 11 years couldn't take care of it either Tuesday, Wednesday and not until Monday late afternoon. Dr. Awayes came out on the day after Thanksgiving even though the office was closed and checked the tooth ready to make any emergency repairs necessary but said it would be OK until Monday and was stable. I asked him to see me Monday and he did, at 9AM. The office was busy but I was taken back soon after registering and doing all the necessary paperwork as I had never been there before. In the end, he repaired the tooth and then saw something he wanted to check further so did a full 360 degree xray. As it turned out it was just a difference in structure and not an issue. He spent a LOT of time with me even though his office was buzzing with activity. I felt badly taking up his time. Because of the way I was treated I have now switched to his practice.

Not very accommodating when need to schedule appointments. Insist that I schedule my daughter and I's appointments for different days.

LOL MY SON DIDNT LIKE THE RUDE IGONRANT ARROGANT DOUCHEBAG ANYWAY BUT I THOUGHT HE WAS JUST ROUGH AROUND EDGES, BUT NOW I SEE WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT NOT TO MENTION HE GOES BACK AND FORTH FROM PATIENT TO PATIENT THE WHOLE TIME YOU ARE THERE, YOU SPEND MORE TIME WITH THE DENTAL HYGIENIST THEN HIM... THEY ARE NICE THO ITS ASHAME THEY WORK FOR AN ARROGANT PERSON

I have had only positive experiences in this office (inc cleanings, multiple fillings, tricky crown replacement). What I appreciate most is Dr. Awayes attention to pragmatic clinical decision making. I have received care from other dentists who will recommend care just based on the black and white, or on increasing numbers, rather than on the most sound practical care for the patient and their situation. Dr. Awayes is very involved in the flow of his office and has been attentive to the schedules of his working patients and to not offering so much numbing medication that you look goofy going to work (but also makes sure to check that you are comfortable). His office is not as fancy and glossy as some other dental practices, but he also doesn't charge premium prices for the same quality of care.

Rude people on staff, dentist doesn't spend time with patients but Bill's insurance for his time, doesn't matter to him what you want or need it's his way or not at all. Dont dare miss one APPOINTMENT or your gone, so god forbid you forget your APPOINTMENT your kicked to curb like a bad habit !!! He obviously doesn't truly care about patients or it might just be discrimination because we are poor and have medicaid and I cant pay the higher premiums than other insurance companies...

I have been going to Dr. Awayes for about 10 years now for regular cleanings and staff is always efficient and thorough. Just had a crown placed yesterday and was dreading it - and I'm shocked there was no pain - during or after. Dr. Awayes explained the procedure step by step and even let me watch my crown being created in the office. Quality dentistry is expensive, but considering the expertise of the practitioner and the cost of state of the art equipment it is completely justified and worth it. My crown looks great and feels fine so far! I am floored to be honest with Dr. Awayes skill and attention to detail. I live in Rehoboth and his office is worth the trip!
