Adams Oral Surgery was established in1985and has been responsible for providing outstanding oral and maxillofacial surgery ever since. Our specialty is in the area of dentoalveolar and implant surgery.We offer our patients an atmosphere of caring and comfort, with an emphasis on anesthesia services to optimize their experience. Our business is located in Hanover at 249 Allegheny Avenue and in Gettysburg at 455 South Washington Street.
The surgeons at Adams Oral Surgery are assisted by a highly trained and experienced team of nurses and administrative personnel. Eachprocedure performedin our office isassisted by at least one licensed nurse and all of your scheduling and financial needs are met by an administrative team with a combined experience of over 55 years.
Dr. Adams earned his Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University where he also lettered in both football and lacrosse. He was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1977 and after a one year internship at Baltimore City Hospital he returned to the University of Maryland for his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed his residency in 1981.
Dr. Adams passed his board examinations and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 1983. He established Adams Oral Surgery in 1985, opening offices in both Hanover and Gettysburg.
Dr. Adams has been active in organized Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for many years on both a state and national level and has been honored with induction into both the American and International College of Dentists.
Dr. Tempel earned his Bachelor's degree in General Arts and Sciences from Penn State University in 1990. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry in 1994. He completed a General Practice Residency followed by a four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the U.S. Army. Dr. Tempel had a distinguished 12 year Army career during which he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, served in the Special Forces, and earned the Bronze Star while serving as a surgeon in Afghanistan. He taught oral surgery residents for four years before leaving the Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Dr temple is fantastic and the staff are very nice and helpful with any questions you may have. Definitely would recommend. Unfortunately they didn't take my insurance but they give you an accurate cost prior to procedure. No hidden surprises.

This practice refused to allow me into the room with my SEVEN year old for a tooth extraction. I am livid that they would have the audacity refuse me entrance. This is unacceptable.

Dr Tempel is very caring,& detail oriented. He never rushes you & ensures you're fully aware of specifics. You can ask any questions & he is always very patient. Add to this the availability to be put out for more intense procedures, like implants, makes them perfect in my eyes,& I'm very nervous with dental work.

Everything and everybody seemed very kind and professional, I've had excruciating pain from my wisdom teeth and they got me an appt within the week and we're very pleasant to deal with!

If this establishment is out of network for your insurance, do NOT go here because they WILL balance bill you. I'm happy with Dr. Tempel and the extraction of my four wisdom teeth. However, I am very disappointed with the rest of the experience and would not go back. The office is switching to online records as of December 2018, which are difficult to use compared to online records I've dealt with at other doctors' offices. Staff did not respond when I contacted them regarding the difficulties I was having. When I went in for the appointment even the receptionist had trouble figuring out the problem. They also cancelled my follow up appointment without telling me and I found out when I showed up.

Terrible experience! Waited over an hour with no end in sight before we finally gave up and left. Though there were numerous patients in the waiting room, nobody ever came out from the back in that hour.

I needed a painful tooth extracted. I called on a Thursday and they offered me an appt one month out. I asked them to put me on their cancellation list. They called Friday and offered me an appt on Monday! I was thrilled! Dr. Tempel was so nice and personable! All of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I was in and out in under an hour. Overall, the experience was phenomenal!
