As a native of Raleigh, I have always known I wanted to make both my home and my career here. My family has been right here for four generations, so we have deep roots in this area. I went to undergrad at NC State University majoring in Zoology, minoring in Design and Economics, and was a Caldwell-Fellows Scholar. NCSU is a legacy in our family my father, mother, uncle, sister, in-laws, and wife all graduated from NC State so needless to say, I was destined to be a Wolfpack fan! I attended UNC School of Dentistry and graduated with honors in 2006, also receiving the Hillenbrand-Lupton Award for Academic Excellence in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the graduating class. During school I frequently visited with Dr. Adams, who was also my familys dentist, and knew then that this is where and with whom I wanted to practice.
My wife, Taylor, also a Raleigh native, and I married in 2003. We met at Sanderson High School, started dating our senior year and have been together ever since! We have been blessed with two adorable and quite active children: our son, Jennings, and our daughter, Emma. In whatever spare time I might have, I enjoy hanging out with our families, going to the beach, fishing, keeping a project of some sort going, exercising, and watching as much football as I can manage!
We have been fortunate to attract a population of patients that become family as well as clients in our practice. Your wellbeing is always our preeminent concern. Many of us have been working together here at Adams and Cheek for many years. We have a strong sense of family amongst ourselves as we serve you. The commitment we have to one another breeds confidence for you as our patient(s).
Seemingly a simple concept has become less than the norm in doing business in todays world. It means the world to us when a patient feels and says, I trust that you will do what is best for me. We appreciate your confidence and will continually work to build a mutually trustworthy relationship. We abide by the simple and basic principle of doing what is best for the patient at all times.
We provide Platinum service for reasonable fees. We understand dentistry is not inexpensive especially for those without insurance. Our goal is to provide top 1% service / dentistry for upper middle class fees. Our goal is to do it RIGHT the first time. We know your time is valuable. We will make the best use of your time possible when in our office.
We are fully aware that many patients are not fond of visits to the dentist. Our goal is to earn your trust and confidence over time. We have overcome fears of MANY patients with compassion, even hand holding if necessary. Medications to minimize your anxieties can be prescribed on an individual basis if needed.
Life is too short not to have fun throughout the day. We hope you will hear laughter in our office. Please know that we are very serious about the quality of dentistry we provide, but also know that we like to have fun while working with you. We have found over the years that a few ounces of laughter help provide a more comfortable setting for you as the patient as well as make our work environment a happier place.
Often times patients are unaware of the quality of dentistry provided to them. As your health care provider, it is our responsibility to ensure that the product we deliver to you is the best available. We have to be consistently diligent in scrutinizing our work to be sure you receive the best dentistry available.
We are committed to educating ourselves and our staff to provide you the best services available. We well exceed the norm in continuing education annually. Be assured we never rest on our laurels but rather consistently challenge ourselves to work to the next level of excellence. Educating you as the patient is also a prime focus for us. We firmly believe that the better educated you are, the better decisions we can make together regarding your dental care. We also firmly believe that the more you know about how to enhance your homecare, the better. We are in the business of helping you achieve optimum dental health. Education in this arena is invaluable.
Doctor Adams, Donna, and all of his staff are best people that I have ever dealt with. All Dentists should be as kind and caring as Doctor Adams and his group. They offer excellent care to their patients that is above and beyond what anyone would expect. I cannot thank Doctor Adams, Donna and his staff enough for my life changing smile that they gave me. Always a great experience for going to the dentist (not easy for me) I hate going to the dentist but love these folks! Lena (office mgr) is so sweet and professional. I can't say enough about this practice. Everyone is too notch from the receptionist, to the Assistants and Hygentist to the Dentist. They work as a team and you can tell everyone who works there is very happy to be there. I have received nothing but excellent service! I highly recommend them!

Highly recommend Adams and Cheek dentistry. Both my husband and I are patients here and we have had great experiences. They are truly honest and kind which is hard to find. Also, every referral I have received from them has always been amazing.

Dr. Adams and his staff are THE BEST! You're not "just another face" there! They genuinely care about giving you excellent care and service! Dr. Adams is extremely knowledgeable and stays up-to-date with the newest treatments. His staff makes it easy to get an appointment, even when an unexpected situation happens! It's always a pleasure to visit their office!

Do not let Dr. Adams touch you with a 10 foot pole. In May 2022 I had NO tooth pain, went in for a filling due to spacing. Dr. Adams recommended getting 2 other teeth filled in same area since I would already have numbing medication. I trusted his judgment and agreed, immediately after I was in pain. Not your normal feeling lil numb afterwards I was in pain. Was told to let meds wear off, may take a few days to feel better. Their office never checked on me, I went back into the office with hopes of feeling better afyer making an appt. Dr. Adams told me "if he had to guess" it was 1 or 2 teeth that may need a root canal. At this point I've paid over $900 and have pain, possibly need 2 canals??? I had no pain before my visit! I was not comfortable moving forward. Found another dentist and yes needed 2 canals now I've spent well over $6k. Save yourself!

I've been going to Dr. Adams for years, and it's always been a great experience. The entire staff at A&C is the perfect blend of personable and professional--it's refreshing to be treated as a person and not just a chart number. I know my smile is always in great hands!

I initially chose this practice to have a dentist that could do more than that basics without referrals, as going elsewhere requires more time, and more costs. I was certain I needed some work, but would stretch it out to use my insurance wisely. During my first visit with Dr. Cheek, he referred me out to have a root canal re-treated and suggested I wait until the beginning of the year and have a crown redone. He had a nice practical bedside manner and I was thrilled. I did not complete the referral re-treatment after the endodontist presented me with a $2000 quote, which does not make financially sense to do over an implant for $1000 more and would be permanent. On my second visit with Dr Cheek he asked why I didn't get the re-treatment while also saying my crown needs to be replaced soon as it is peeling away. His tone turned accusatory after I told him I would have to wait until the beginning of the year to have insurance cover more of the costs. His words "well, you won't make it that long with the pain". I do not have, nor ever had any pain to this day, so he must be confusing me with another patient. His pushing hard to have the work done does not make any logical sense. The behavior was very narcissistic. A practitioner that is committed to their patients has compassion and understanding. I liked everything up until the end of the second visit. I have not balked at any costs, and in the past 4 months my family has paid his practice around $3000 cash plus $3000 from insurance. I'll pay a bit more for a great dentist, but I don't deserve to be treated as I'm an idiot.
