Please forgive any typos-so excited to post about Dr. Lighter that I'm writing all of this from my phone!! Dr. Lighter is absolutely phenomenal. The only way I can explain just how great a dentist Dr. Lighter is will be to explain my dental history. Long review, but if you're looking for a phenomenal dentist in Queens, or anywhere near Queens, Dr. Lighter really is the best you will find. He is worth a drive in from Long Island it a train ride from Manhattan. Friendly staff, comfortable, clean office, state of the art equipment, and most importantly--a rare dentist who sees and works on his patients from start to finish. I couldn't tell you the names of other dentists because they usually show up and do a very quick look at your teeth and xrays, AFTER the hygienist has done the cleaning. Appointments are scheduled with one of many hygienists and you find yourself hoping you don't see the actual dentist because typically they're only giving their time to the patients who have issues and need work and will therefore be spending more money. Just the way it is now-but not with Dr. Lighter. I am so thrilled to finally have found a true dentist who genuinely cares about his patients, treats his staff with courtesy and respect, and is in my neighborhood--YAY!!! For 30 years I have been a daily 2-4 cup black coffee drinker, weekly red wine drinker, and was a heavy cigarette smoker off and on between the ages of 16-50. Being completely honest--until the age of 12, I really don't remember brushing my teeth at all. Middle-class upbringing with both parents highly educated, but they just weren't the type to stand behind six children to make sure we were brushing our teeth. I recall my first dental visit at the age of 12, no idea what prompted the visit, but it was special for me as the dentist was quite surprised and made a big deal of the fact that I already had all four wisdom teeth, no cavities and not a single issue with my teeth. The wisdom teeth did eventually begin cutting into my jaw at the age of 17 and I had all four pulled. At any rate, in spite of my very poor dental hygiene as a child, I still have never had a cavity, all of my teeth are perfectly straight, and sparkly white. The thought of cavities or losing teeth is just frightening so as an adult I have been diligent about making sure I get my teeth cleaned at least once yearly, sometimes twice yearly. This means no matter what state I'm living in or visiting I find a dentist, so over a 30 year period I have had dental visits in Alabama, Kentucky, California, Georgia, New York, Texas, Tennessee, and im sure a couple more states. The last time I found a dentist who actually took care of his patients from start to finish, with the hygienist assisting the dentist, was 28 years ago in a small Northern California town, until today-when I visited Dr. Lighter's office.
