Dr. Slaven Graduated with a doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) degree from the University of Michigan in 2002. He also received a Master of Dental Surgery (M.S. D) in Periodontics from Indiana University in 2006.
He is also certified by the State of Missouri in General Dentistry and Periodontics. Dr. Slaven also holds certifications form the American Board of Periodontology and the Northeast Regional Board in local anesthesia.
He has been practicing all aspects of family and cosmetic dentistry in Wentzville and surrounding suburbs over the past years. He enjoys his involvement with organized dentistry and he is a member of American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, and the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Slaven is very devoted to excellence in quality patient care by participating in national and international seminars, ongoing continuing education and lectures, and he has mastered the latest techniques in cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Graham Tinker graduated cum Laude with a degree in biochemistry from the University of Missouri in 2011. He attended dental school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City where graduated with honors in oral surgery.
Dr. Tinker became interested in dentistry while on a mission trip to Honduras in which he assisted the dental team as they cared for the needs of the local population. He continued to donate his time and expertise to the underserved populations in both St. Louis and Kansas City at public health clinics while in dental school. Dr. Tinker participated in this years MOMOM hosted in Columbia. Outside of work he enjoys snowboarding, playing soccer, and watching Mizzou athletics.
Having grown up in central Missouri, it brings me much joy to be able to return to the area and serve the local populations dental needs. I love cultivating relationships with my patients and satisfying their dental needs from relieving them of pain to improving their self-confidence by enhancing the esthetics of their smiles. Dr. Carissa Bruening was raised in the small town of Fredonia, Kansas. Her interest in dentistry was initially sparked when her hometown dental office asked her to work for the summer when she was 14 years old. Growing up, Dr. Bruening enjoyed her science and health courses and after her time spent working in the dental office, she began researching dentistry as a future career.
Carissa graduated magna cum laude from Kansas State University in 2012 with a degree in Kinesiology/Pre-dentistry. She then attended the University of Missouri Kansas City, School of Dentistry and graduated in May 2016, with academic honors.
Dr. Carissa Bruening was recently married to her husband and now ActOn colleague, Dr. Andrew Bruening. In her free time she says, I love times of relaxation with my husband, especially after two years of a long distance relationship, but I also love being active in sports. Basketball, volleyball and tennis are my favorite sports to play, but as I get older, I realize I will be playing more golf in my future. Dr. Bruening also enjoys training for and participating in half marathon races.
Dr. Bruening grew up in the St. Louis area and studied Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Missouri Columbia before graduating with honors from the School of Dentistry at the University of Missouri Kansas City. He is an alumnus of Psi Omega dental fraternity and is currently working towards a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry and accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
The Iowa Dental Association named Dr. Bruening an honor clinician at their regional dental conference, and the Midwest Dental Conference awarded him 3rd place for table clinic presentations. In 2013, he traveled to Uganda for a dental mission trip and is planning to do future work in Africa, South America, and Thailand.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bruening enjoys photography, reading, cooking, brewing beer, and playing golf.
