A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum disease, and in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including three additional years of education beyond dental school. They are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease, and are also trained in performing cosmetic periodontal procedures.
Dr. Acharya, board certified in Periodontics and dental implant surgery, can treat more problematic periodontal cases, such as those with severe gum disease or a complex medical history. She can offer non-surgical and surgical treatment options specifically suited to patient needs and preferences.
Originally from Pulaski, Virginia, I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Virginia and my general dentistry training at Boston University. I then continued on to the University of Pittsburgh and completed my residency in Periodontics and Dental Implant surgery. I became Board Certified in May 2011.

Extremely satisfied with gum surgery and dental implant. They explained the process and care needed following procedures. Recovery went very smoothly. Pain control (without narcotics) was very effective. I have nothing, but high praise for everyone I encountered in this practice.

One of my coworkers referred me to her and I am so glade that she did. I had been looking for some Periodontist for over five years that would take my insurance and not rip me off. Periodontal Health Associates told me I need to have all this stuff done in order to fix my problem which was upward of $10,000. After change to Crossroads dental Dr. Hatch didn't think I need that type of surgery. Dr. Acharya was very honest with me and didn't try to give me something I didn't need just to run up the cost. Very satisfied!

Dr. Acharya is a real treasure! I was very nervous about getting work done on my gums in regards to gum recession and put it off for a while. Her office is clean, efficiently run, with personable staff members. The three people I interacted with were exceptional and made the visit pleasant and enjoyable! Dr. Acharya is very knowledgeable, caring, professional, and efficient. She was there when I had questions and on call. I felt more confident about my smile again after my visit, exam, and the procedure. Wonderful practice and experience!

Dr. Acharya and her staff are wonderful. Both of my teenagers required frenectomy procedures to complete their orthodontia treatment. The procedure was beautifully executed and Dr Acharya made the process very easy for my boys.

Exceptional experience. The staff is professional, kind, genuine and easy to work with. Each appointment started on time and was both efficient and thorough. I was referred to Dr. Acharya through my dentist for a gum graft. During my consultation she explained the procedure in-depth, took time to answer questions and most importantly was compassionate and trustworthy. After the initial consultation, her team called to review the estimate and answer any additional questions. I had a question a few days after the procedure and when I called the office (thinking I'd have to leave a message for the doctor), Dr. Acharya came to the phone within seconds. She answered my question and provided great suggestions. There were no surprises throughout the process. Great customer service and I will definitely go back to Acharya Periodontics if needed, without hesitation!

I wasn't going to share my experience but I read another review with the same experience so I thought I would share. I scheduled an appointment in December for January to do an implant. No preauthorization was done. Then I got hit with over a 1000 dollar bill. I see things have not improved unfortunately.

I was referred to Dr. Acharya through my dentist for a frenectomy and a gum graft. She explained the procedure in-depth, she took time to answer all of my questions, and most importantly was honest and trustworthy. She gave me an upfront cost on the procedure and it was exactly what I was quoted. I will certainly be going back to Acharya Periodontics for any other procedures.
