Dr. Ella Shuster grew up in Westfield, New Jersey, and she now practices dentistry at Academy Dental Care in her two offices in Westfield and Chatham, New Jersey. Dr. Shuster is comfortable with all aspects of general dentistry root canals, fillings, crowns, bridges and implants and she is especially interested in cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign orthodontics, restorative dentistry, and dental sleep medicine.
Dr. Kobos graduated Magna Cum laude from Tufts University and then went on to graduate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She continued her education at Overlook Hospital's General Practice Residency in Summit, NJ where she received training in oral surgery, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry.She is gentle, warm,and family-focused.
A New Jersey native, Dr. Mendia attended Rutgers University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition. He then earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Mendia completed a post-doctoral residency in Dental Anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Dr. Mendias anesthesia training involved hospital rotations through various specialties. During each rotation, he provided general anesthesia in the areas of dentistry, general surgery, otolaryngology (ENT) surgery and obstetrics. Today, Dr. Mendia has found his niche in ambulatory anesthesia with pediatric and special needs patients. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at Rutgers University School of Dental Medicine and provides lectures and continuing education courses on sedation and medical emergencies in the dental office.
He is also a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists, New Jersey Dental Association, and American Dental Association. He holds certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Dr. Heather Kobos is everything you could ever dream of in a dentist. She knows her patients and takes the very best care. Her staff is exceptional, professional, and kind. Dr. Kobos practices her oath daily, and she has truly improved the quality of my life by taking great care of my teeth. I LOVE going to the dentist. OUTSTANDING in every way.

Everybody who works in this office is friendly and professional. Our family LOVES Dr. Kobos, especially my daughter who wants a sensitive dentist. They referred me to an endodontist for a root canal, and he turned out to be great. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

I recently had a chipped filling in my front tooth replaced at Academy Dental on Main St. I was quite impressed by Dr. Kobos as she tended to my tooth. I expected a fifteen minute appointment, same as I had at my previous dentist for the same issue years back. But Dr. Kobos took care to make sure my tooth looked perfect, apologizing several times for taking so much time to "get it right". She told me that front teeth are important because they're what everyone sees so she wants them to look good. I couldn't be happier with the results.

I am so impressed with the extent of safety, cleanliness, and care Dr. Shuster and her staff have taken and provided. I felt very comfortable with my experience while getting my teeth cleaned.
