Abilene Pediatric Dental Associates, PLLC, offers the Big Country some of the most knowledgeable dentists in the industry. From dental hygiene and pediatric dentistry to oral sedation and hospital treatments, you can trust us to help calm your children in treatment and instill oral health for a lifetime.
You wont find pediatric dentists more comforting or qualified than ours. Our office staff, dental hygienists, and board-certified specialists have experience handling the most timid and energetic kids. Weve all been educated in behavior management for children, which helps us make children and parents truly comfortable.
Our training is more specialized than general dentistry. We often treat children whove had negative experiences, are apprehensive about treatments, need special behavior management, or require extensive care. It is our vast experience in pediatrics that helps us calm nerves and provide excellent childrens dental care.
Abilene Pediatric Dental is proud to serve families with disabilities and special needs. We believe in a family-oriented approach to dental care. No one understands your childs needs more than you, and we will work with you to determine the best approach. Our goal is to prioritize a good experience for all children at their dental visit.
We work with children having a variety of special needs, which includes: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Sensory Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Respiratory Diseases, Hearing and Visual Impairments, Cleft & Craniofacial Anomalies, and many other conditions.
The goal of our services is to monitor dental growth and instill best practices in children, ensuring they care for their teeth throughout life. All of our treatments and services are provided by caring doctors and staff, which is the key to successfully avoiding patient anxiety and traumatic dental experiences.
We treat the youngest patients, as well as preteens and teenagers, managing the concerns and behaviors of each age group. When it comes to pediatric dental services, we truly have your childs interests at heart.
Dental X-Ray The American Dental Association states the following: Radiation exposure associated with dentistry represents a minor contribution to the total exposure from all sources, including natural and man-made. This means that dental x-rays are safe.
All x-rays in our office are digital, which emit 70% less radiation than conventional film x-rays. At most exams, x-rays will be needed for our dentists to evaluate your childs oral health, focusing on the bone and tooth structure under the gums.
N20 or Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) For some treatments, our doctors use laughing gas to help calm your child. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recognizes nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation as a safe and effective technique to reduce anxiety, produce analgesia, and enhance effective communication between a patient and health care provider.
Oral Sedation Our doctors use various medications to sedate a child. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) states that Oral Sedation can help increase cooperation and reduce anxiety and/or discomfort associated with dental treatment.
Selection of medications is based upon your childs overall health, level of anxiety, and dental treatment recommendations. Once administered, medications may take up to an hour before your child shows signs of sedation and is ready for dental treatment. Most children become relaxed and/or drowsy and may drift into a light sleep from which they can be aroused easily. Unlike general anesthesia, oral sedation is not intended to make a patient unconscious or unresponsive.
Some children may not experience relaxation but an opposite reaction such as agitation or crying. These also are common responses to the medicines and may prevent us from completing the dental procedures.
Hospital Treatment The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) states that some children and developmentally disabled patients require general anesthesia to receive comprehensive dental care in a safe and humane fashion.
We will never administer general anesthesia in the office. Our board-certified pediatric dentists are on staff at both Hendrick Medical Center and Abilene Regional Medical Center. They utilize pediatric anesthesia groups to treat the children safely in the hospital.
I have dedicated my life to advocating for children and their oral health. The dentistry I perform on baby teeth is temporarythose teeth eventually fall outbut the experience, friendship, and dental attitude I instill in kiddos will last a lifetime.
We do not believe in using negative reinforcements when dealing with children, no matter what their level of cooperation might be. When it comes to treatment, we practice evidence-based pediatric dentistry and make recommendations for patients as if they were our own kids.
Board Certification is a significant achievement that not all doctors attain. Choosing to become board certified in a specialty like Pediatric Dentistry, requires further, extensive, specialty-specific training of 2-3 years after dental school. Once training is complete, you must pass two board exams. One is written and the other is oral.
Board Certification is an extra step that a doctor chooses to take to demonstrate their commitment to lifelong learning, to know the latest advancements in their specialty, to practice at the top level of their profession, and deliver the highest quality pediatric dental care to your child.
The mission of Abilene Pediatric Dental is to provide comprehensive dentistry for infants, children, and teenagers, including those with special needs. The goal of our services is to monitor dental growth and instill best practices in children, ensuring they care for their teeth throughout life.
We aspire to provide the highest quality of childrens dental care in a loving, compassionate, Christian environment. We endeavor to treat our patients as if they were our own kids and to offer exceptional customer service to parents.
More than a dental practice, our office is designed to be family friendly. We believe that visiting the dentist can be an enjoyable experience for the child and the parent. To match this philosophy, Dr. Seth designed the office to include a game room, an 850 gallon fish tank, wall murals, and a rocket crashing into the building for the kids. Our entire team of trained professionals is committed to making the dentist office a happy place for your child.
Dr. Seth attended the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio, receiving his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2008. He went on to complete his residency training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio and became certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2011. Dr. Seth is trained in all aspects of Pediatric Dentistry. While dedicating his professional career to childrens oral health, Dr. Seth is a man for all seasons. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, he attended Eastwood High School where he was heavily involved in sports, playing football, basketball, and baseball. As a biology major at McMurry University, he continued to play baseball and help the Indians (now War Hawks) win two American Southwest Conference championships (2001, 2004). In 2004 Dr. Seth was 1st-team Academic All-American catcher and male Scholar Athlete of the Year for McMurry University and for the American Southwest Conference.
These days youll find Dr. Seth spending time with his dad (a retired high school head football coach of 30 years) on the sidelines of Friday night football games in the Big Country, from 6A to 1A. During dove season, hes often perched next to a tank or sunflower field trying to get his limit. Otherwise, Dr. Seth is trying to break 100 on the golf course, supporting his beloved Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (even though he lives well behind the enemy lines of the Texas Rangers), and most often enjoying time with his wife and family.
Dr. Seth is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and in the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

After graduation Dr. Adam moved back to the Brownwood area and joined a general dentistry practice for two years. Finding his calling to serve children, Dr. Adam started practicing part time at APDA before joining the practice full time in July of 2013. He has loved every minute since then.
While attending dental school, Dr. Adam met the love of his life, Lacie, who wandered into his back yard randomly, he says. They have two daughters, Dylan and Chase, and enjoy spending time as a family RVing across the state.
As a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Paul is dedicated to continuing education, evidence-based practices, and adherence to the AAPD Guidelines. After dental school, he focused his education on pediatric dentistry by completing a Pediatric Fellowship at THE Ohio State University and then further completing his Pediatric Residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Paul joined APDA in 2016. Most days you will find him running around the office like an over-sized kid, telling corny jokes, purposely confusing Disney stories, or rolling around on his skate shoes. He is also credentialed and on staff at Abilene Regional Hospital and Hendrick Medical Center.
