Dr. Anna Abel graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and practiced dentistry for more than 20 years. In addition to providing dental treatment, Dr. Abel maintains a commitment to helping patients be the happiest that they can be with their smiles. Her favorite procedures are cosmetic services such as veneers and oral surgery, including bone grafts and dental implants. Dr. Abel has a profound passion for dentistry. She was deeply invested in training by the late Dr. Peter Dawson, the author of the best-selling dental textbook Evaluation, Diagnosis, and Treatments of Occlusal Problems, and is considered one of the most influential clinicians and teachers in history dentistry. She also has trained with the Academy Aesthetic Dentistry and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Abel frequently volunteered at Northern Virginia Dental Clinic. She has received numerous awards for the exceptional service and time she has offered to provide care for low-income patients. She has also volunteered for and participated in many mission trips with the not-for-profit organization, Operation Smile, to offer free services to children in need worldwide. Beginning in 1996, Dr. Abel has maintained active involvement in organizing fundraising efforts to support the organization and carry out frequent mission trips successfully. She has offered free dental treatment and surgery for children with cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial deformities.
Along with Dr. Phan, she volunteered in 2007 and 2009 as a chairpersons assistant for Operation Smile to arrange fundraising events for various mission trips. Since 2006, she has also been involved with the non-profit organization Hope for Tomorrow (HOPE), which provides health care, human services, and education about healthy practices to underserved communities. She has been the Director of Dental Missions of the organization to help arrange and prepare for domestic and international missions to provide free dental services, offer necessary goods, services, and relief to impoverished countries worldwide.
In addition to practicing dentistry and active service with volunteer efforts, Dr. Abel loves music. She served as a board member for the Loudoun Lyric Opera in 2010. She is also dedicated to personal health and regularly works out at the gym. Dr. Abel is an active member of Our Lady of Lavang church, where she volunteers as a Sunday School teacher, and a frequent volunteer at Our Lady of Hope Catholic School, where three of her children enrolled. Dr. Abel and Dr. Phan are committed to teaching children about the importance of dental health. Together, they sponsor several local schools to educate children about oral hygiene and to promote healthy practices.
Dr. Chuong Phan graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry and has practiced dentistry for more than 20 years. His favorite clinical procedures include Orthodontic Treatment and Root Canal Therapy. Dr. Phan has dedicated himself in training to update Endodontic Treatment with many well-known endodontist educators. He also has been trained in orthodontics by various educators such as the American Orthodontic Society, Progressive Orthodontic Seminars, Gerber Ortho Studies. He also received training from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
In addition to his work at Abel Phan and Associates, he regularly volunteers at Northern Virginia Dental Clinic to offer care to low-income patients. He has received numerous awards from the clinic for providing outstanding care and volunteering an extensive amount of his time. Dr. Phan has also participated in multiple missions with Operation Smile since 2004 to provide free services to children in need in numerous countries. With this not-for-profit medical service organization, he has worked in disadvantaged regions to perform free surgery for children with cleft lips, cleft palates, and facial deformities and offers dental treatment to kids worldwide. Dr. Phan was also a chairperson for fundraising events for Operation Smile in 2007 and 2009. Since 2006, he has also been involved with and committed to Hope for Tomorrow (HOPE), a non-profit organization that provides health care, human services, and education about these practices to underserved communities. He was a team leader for Hope For Tomorrow in 2010, 2014, 2017, 2019 to help arrange and execute international missions to Vietnam and Cambodia to provide free dental services to patients with Hansens disease, HIV+, minority communities.
Along with Dr. Abel, Dr. Phan is committed to increasing awareness about personal health. Together, the doctors sponsor several local schools to offer oral hygiene education and promote healthy dental practices.
When Dr. Phan is not practicing dentistry or volunteering, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Abel, and their three daughters, Annie, Angelica, and Alina. He loves traveling, gardening, music, and he is dedicated to playing guitar and composing music.
Simona has joined Abel Phan & Associates Dental Practice since March 2021. She is truly thankful for having found a great team to work with every day. With over 10 years of experience in the dental field, Simona is passionate about caring for her patients oral health through gentle care and education.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Virginia Community College in 2011 with an A.A.S. in Dental Hygiene. Simona believes that learning is a lifelong process thus, she strives to provide the best care possible to her patients by keeping up with the newest innovations in the dental industry. Her recent focus has been on advanced non-surgical care for periodontal disease- oral DNA and saliva test laser bacterial reduction therapy, Perio Protect trays. She has always carried the passion of the art of healing and prevention to her patients.
