I love being an orthodontist. It gives me the opportunity to meet wonderful people and have a lifelong impact on their lives. There is nothing more rewarding than working with patients and their families and seeing the changes we can make together.
I come from a dental family: My father and sister are orthodontists, and my brother is an endodontist.I received my Bachelor of Science in biology at Villanova University, where I competed on the Division I varsity tennis team. I undertook my dental and orthodontic training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.
I am committed to offering each patient the best treatment options, customized to the persons specific clinical and personal needs. I hold steadfast to high standards of clinical excellence, and have gained board certification in orthodontics.
My husband Eben and I love living in Durango. Hes fortunate in being able to work remotely as an editor for the Harvard Business Review. Together we enjoy playing tennis, hiking, travel, and adventuring with our amazing dog, an Irish Wolfhound named Rosie.
Dr. Daniella Phillis and our team are experienced professionals, and weve witnessed these incredible transformations for years. We find it deeply rewarding to give people individuals whove become our friends smiles that ensure their confident personalities shine!
Starting with the first, complimentary visit, we take time to learn what our patient or the parent, if were seeing a child expects from treatment. Following the exam, Dr. Phillis designs a treatment plan that addresses the persons clinical and personal needs.
But there are additional, though less visible, benefits to orthodontic treatment. When teeth are correctly positioned, its easier to keep them and the gums healthy and clean through good home oral hygiene practices. This reduces the likelihood of future dental or gum disease.
The process of aligning teeth also improves the bite. Teeth meet properly, which allows food to be thoroughly chewed, and there is lower stress on the neck and facial muscles, as well as the jaw joints.
As a team, Dr. Phillis and our staff are dedicated to maintaining a welcoming and professional environment where you are heard, safe, and treated with respect and compassion. We will always see and care for you as an individual, not another patient, and be attentive and responsive to you and your situation.

A million thank you a to Dr. Phillis and her team would never be enough. Being a 35 year old getting braces felt very daunting, but here I am 19 months later with an amazing smile! I could not be happier! Dr. Phillis and her team were always kind, patient and professional. I will miss seeing them every couple of weeks. Thank you Smile by Design!!

At 27 years old I finally decided to get braces and get a smile I can be confident about. From what I had heard A Smile By Design is the best place to get the work done. The staff was extremely nice and professional. The work environment was very clean and always upbeat. They took all the necessary precautions needed during the current pandemic. Dr. Phillis and the staff really went above and beyond for me and made sure all my concerns were taken care of and the finished results were just what I was hoping for.

Toni, age 59, was deeply appreciative of Dr. Phillis' precise attention to detail and astute understanding of adult orthodontic concerns. Dr. Phillis and the staff are amazing. As a 38 year-old going in for my first orthodontist appointment, they assured me that they would improve my smile without intensive operations such as multiple-tooth removals, as prior dentists had believed it would take. The staff is wonderful and friendly, and I felt completely comfortable in their hands. After less than 2 years of treatment following 20 adult years of awfully crooked teeth, I finally got my braces off today - it's amazing how that time flies when you know how much it will improve your confidence in the future. Very professional and clean. Great with my 7 year old son. We had wrong advise given to us from our normal dentist so we scheduled with them after a recommendation from a friend (that works in the dentistry field) for a second opinion. During our consultation, Dr. Phyllis and her Manager, Lisa were so insightful and knowledgeable about my sons condition and took the time to answer all my questions in depth with full an education lesson on what exactly his condition was, the steps to correct them and our options. They also are so flexible and considerate of the custody agreement and allowed us to included his father over FaceTime so he could be involved and informed as well. I would rate well above 5 stars if possible!

Dr Phillis went above and beyond. The entire staff at a smile by design are top notch, if I could give them 100 stars I would!! I went in16 months ago just to see what she recommended, as a 30 year old woman I was hesitant to jump on the braces wagon but I walked out yesterday with the smile of my dreams! Dr Philis is a superior professional and a perfectionist, I also feel like I've made a new friend! This was by far the best investment I've ever made myself. Thank you smile by design! All my kids will come here and all my friends know how I feel about my new smile.
