Dr. Arun K. Sharda enjoys working with his patients, helping them maintain healthy, confident smiles and avoid any potential dental problems. Active in North Carolina since 1996, he has more than 31 years of experience in clinical dentistry. He has practiced in England, Scotland, and the United States. He has assisted in research on a variety of dental topics, including cosmetic dentistry, oral cancer, and dental emergencies.
Born and raised in Kenya, East Africa, Dr. Sharda, began his dental education at BirminghamUniversity Dental School in Birmingham, England, where he earned Honors in Oral Surgery and Restorative and Preventative Dentistry.
After graduating, he practiced at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland. He moved to the United States in 1993 and went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, where he was awarded Honors in Fixed/Removable Prosthodontics.
In addition to practicing dentistry, Dr. Sharda has volunteered his time at nursing homes, schools, and free dental clinics. His plans for the future include continuing these volunteer efforts as well as teaching dentistry.
Dr. Sharda and his wife, Asha, live in Greensboro, where they are active in the community. They have two sons: Ashish, a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, and now working at the Attorney General Office, and Alok, a senior at UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. In his free time, Dr. Sharda, enjoys playing tennis; traveling to visit family in England, Canada, and Kenya; listening to classical music and reading. He is an avid sports fan, especially enjoying English football, which Americans know as soccer.

Dr. Sharda received his Bachelor of Sciences in Psychology from Duke University. He then received a research position at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. The year following his research experience at Harvard, Dr. Sharda completed a Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences in North Chicago, Illinois.Upon completion of his Masters degree, Dr. Sharda completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the UNC School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. Dr. Sharda then went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry through East Carolina Universitys community service learning centers in order to give back to those communities in need. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Sharda and his wife moved back to Durham.
Dr. Sharda offers comprehensive treatment planning covering all aspects restorative and cosmetic dentistry including cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, and extractions. Dr. Sharda has the expertise to offer many complex procedures in-house, including endodontic treatment (root canals) and surgical extractions, as well as dental implants. We offer cosmetic smile design with Invisalign clear braces, teeth whitening, and cosmetic fillings as well as partial and full dentures.
Visiting the dentist is not an easy experience for everyone, and at A. K. Sharda DMD PA, we are always sensitive to those concerns. Dr. Sharda's office completed an ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL JOB on 2 crowns for my front 2 teeth. I had worn braces before, and at this point in my life, didn't desire to wear then again. Having the crowns put in made my smile look ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Thank God for Dr. Sharda and his EXCELLENT TEAM!!!

Incompetent and inconsiderate staff in scheduling appointments. I scheduled an appointment that was verified the day before with insurance information and the day of the appointment they send a notification my appointment is at a different time.

I love this dentist. They treat you like family and always make you feel so welcomed. I've been a patient here for almost 10 years. The service is so great that I've traveled from over an hour away for the last five years because all though I moved, I didn't want to replace my dentist.

I have been a patient of Dr.Sharda since 2015. Up until a year ago I was extremely happy with the office. They hired a new staff recently that is extremely rude and unprofessional. I have scheduled an appointment 3 times and each time for some reason my appointment never ends up in their system. When I try and fix the appointment times, the receptionist is extremely rude and unhelpful. The last time I was in the office, the receptionist was speaking badly of a child patient to another patient who was completely unrelated! So unprofessional!

Experience at this practice was extremely unjust . My children were scheduled for their appointment at 10 :00 am . I unfortunately was 4 minutes late to their appointment . I received a letter in the mail stating my children should seek care elsewhere ? Mind you that my children are 8 and 10 and have been going there for quite sometime now . Highly disappointed and dissatisfied say the least .

. I was a new patient and secretary at front desk Judie was exceptional! She assisted me with an issue I had before my appt the day before. Professional and courteous. This practice is amazing. Everything about it is amazing. I am pleased to see a smaller practice functioning so well with smiles on the face constantly. They are opened to talking about anything and encourage you however they can when it comes to dental work. The staff are crossed trained so everyone knows something and points you in the right direction. I love everything about this practice and definitely recommend to anyone.

Very safe. They are following the CDC guidelines. Mask required until thr work begin in your mouth. Dr. Sharda was able to work with my schedule and dental needs without any issues.
