Dr. Arun K. Sharda enjoys working with his patients, helping them maintain healthy, confident smiles and avoid any potential dental problems. Active in North Carolina since 1996, he has more than 31 years of experience in clinical dentistry. He has practiced in England, Scotland, and the United States. He has assisted in research on a variety of dental topics, including cosmetic dentistry, oral cancer, and dental emergencies.
Born and raised in Kenya, East Africa, Dr. Sharda, began his dental education at BirminghamUniversity Dental School in Birmingham, England, where he earned Honors in Oral Surgery and Restorative and Preventative Dentistry.
After graduating, he practiced at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland. He moved to the United States in 1993 and went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, where he was awarded Honors in Fixed/Removable Prosthodontics.
In addition to practicing dentistry, Dr. Sharda has volunteered his time at nursing homes, schools, and free dental clinics. His plans for the future include continuing these volunteer efforts as well as teaching dentistry.
Dr. Sharda and his wife, Asha, live in Greensboro, where they are active in the community. They have two sons: Ashish, a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, and now working at the Attorney General Office, and Alok, a senior at UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. In his free time, Dr. Sharda, enjoys playing tennis; traveling to visit family in England, Canada, and Kenya; listening to classical music and reading. He is an avid sports fan, especially enjoying English football, which Americans know as soccer.

Dr. Sharda received his Bachelor of Sciences in Psychology from Duke University. He then received a research position at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. The year following his research experience at Harvard, Dr. Sharda completed a Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences in North Chicago, Illinois.Upon completion of his Masters degree, Dr. Sharda completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the UNC School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. Dr. Sharda then went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry through East Carolina Universitys community service learning centers in order to give back to those communities in need. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Sharda and his wife moved back to Durham.
Dr. Sharda offers comprehensive treatment planning covering all aspects restorative and cosmetic dentistry including cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, and extractions. Dr. Sharda has the expertise to offer many complex procedures in-house, including endodontic treatment (root canals) and surgical extractions, as well as dental implants. We offer cosmetic smile design with Invisalign clear braces, teeth whitening, and cosmetic fillings as well as partial and full dentures.
