Dr. Scarpella was born in Denver, and raised in Broomfield, Colorado. Upon graduating from Broomfield High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was trained to be a dental assistant, a dental hygiene technician, and a dental laboratory technician.

After completing a five-year tour in the Navy, Dr. Scarpella returned to Colorado and completed his undergraduate education at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. From there he studied dentistry, and in 1987, received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.

Dr. Scarpella has National Board Certification, as well as, Central Regional Board Certification. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Colorado Dental Association, the Northeastern Colorado Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a past president of the Colorado Dental Association.

Due to his high standards for excellence and ethics in dentistry, Dr. Scarpella has been selected by his peers to be a member of the prestigious Pierre Fauchard Academy, as well as the International College of Dentists.
