Dr. Hugh Smaltz attended Murray State University for his undergraduate studies in Chemistry and Mathematics. He completed his graduate studies at The University of Louisville, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1989. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, and CerecDoctors, a dental technology study group that uses state-of-the-art technology to help patients needing one-visit crowns and custom implants.
Dr. Brenda Barrow Smaltz is from Fort Pierce, Florida. She attended Stetson University, where she played on the women's volleyball team while studying Biology. She later graduated from the University of Florida with her B.A, and in 1987 she was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery(DDS) from Emory University. She met Dr. Hugh in Louisville in 1988, while completing her General Practice Residency. They married in 1989, and have shared the challenges and joys of working together while raising a family. She enjoys coaching volleyball, gardening, and teaching bible study to all age levels.

The entire team makes every appointment easy and comfortable, from the time you are greeted at the door until your dental appointment is finished. The practice is Five Star - office, equipment, safety, staff and the dental team. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

For 15 years Dr Smaltz ha taken care of me. When he made suggestions for what I should. do to better my teeth situation they always paid off for me. When I didn't and went my own way I paid for it and it was not good. This old man is still learning and Dr Smaltz is my Dentist.

I had a great experience. Suzanne the dental hygienist was super kind and made me feel comfortable. The dentist really seems to care about your teeth and making sure not to do any unnecessary work.

Great experience with everyone here. I've been coming here for my last few cleanings and the staff is very nice and professional. They do a great job of making you feel comfortable and keep you informed on everything they're doing while in the chair.

Kaitlyn is by far the best dental hygienist I've ever seen. Very personable and kind. The rest of the staff are some of the friendliest people I've met. I just had my first appointment and cannot recommend them enough if you are the type of person that gets stressed when you think about being in the chair!

Everyone at "A Better Way Dental" was amazing! Brittany and Dr Smaltz explained everything that was to be done and I felt so comfortable there! The dental room I was in was so relaxing, clean, with a spa touch like neck cushion and warm face towel when finished! It was such an amazing dental experience, I even received a beautiful new customer gift bag with lots of goodies in it, plus homemade honey, love it!

My first time there and I have to say that I had the best experience. We all know what it's like to dread the dentist but not here. The receptionist to the dental hygienist to the Dr. were all amazing. I can not brag enough about it and my teeth are so clean so they know what they are doing. Helped me feel comfortable and took the extra step to give me numbing stuff before cleaning. Loved it!

i could'nt have asked for a better dentist. Katlyn was awesome very nice. She hooked me up with some new music to listen to. Arlene and Yogi at the front desk was very nice too. Dr Smaltz was very very nice to me. I will be referring my family and friends,anybody needing dental care to Dr Smaltz.

Very kind and professional staff. I went in for a cleaning and left same day ordering my Invisalign. They took the time to evaluate me and do my x rays same day without making me schedule a follow up appointment, which I appreciate! Now I've begun my Invisalign treatment and am 6 months away from a perfect smile. Thank you Dr.Smaltz & staff.
