Dental radiographs, or X-rays, are an important part of a thorough dental examination. Among many things, xrays can expose hidden tooth decay, reveal a tooth abscess, cyst or tumor, show impacted or extra teeth, and also reveal bone loss from periodontal gum disease. A digital x-ray allows us to take an image of the tooth or teeth that almost instantaneously transfers to a computer screen. The digital images that are produced can be enlarged and manipulated to provide a more accurate diagnosis. Digital xrays are much quicker than traditional xrays, allowing more time to be spent with the patient, and also provide nearly 80% less radiation than a standard x-ray.

Although x-rays are a very important diagnostic tool, they cannot reveal everything that is going on in your mouth. That is why we also use an intraoral camera. Intraoral cameras are a highly advanced diagnostic tool that allows the patient to see for themselves first hand some of the images we see in your mouth. The camera gives us the ability to view magnified images of the entire mouth on a monitor so youll be able to see problems, such as worn or broken fillings, cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities next to fillings and excessivewear.

Endodontics, more commonly known as a root canal, is a procedure where the nerves of the tooth, are removed, usually due to the fact that the tooth is infected and is causing pain. Rotary endodontics is a method of endodontic therapy that utilizes an electric handpiece instead of manual files, which expedites the process allowing the procedure to be performed more quickly and comfortably.
